Really Really Dumb Criminals 21 is this week’s Mystery Question, again one from the archives. I hope you enjoy!
But first the photo. I hate that I didn’t give credit to the photo posted on Friday’s blog It was taken by a friend in Tupelo from his deck late one evening. I’ve always thought it was such a beautiful photo. Now for the one this week.
My son-in-law Jeff has been early morning fishing again and snapped this awesome photo. Can’t you just feel the stillness? It immediately reminded me of the verse. Fits perfectly, doesn’t it?
Now for this week’s Mystery Question ~ Really Really Dumb Criminals 20. As usual, three crimes are true and I made up one–can you guess which one? Leave your answer in the comments, and I’ll enter you in the August drawing for a book from my library!
- A man stated to police that he was assaulted at a local tavern earlier that evening. The 62-year-old man was highly intoxicated and drove his truck to the police station to report the assault. He was quickly taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
- When a man was pulled over by a state trooper for driving erratically, he offered the trooper $1000 to let him go. The man was not released (to his chagrin) … he didn’t pass go … and he did go straight to jail, where he was unceremoniously booked not only for suspicion of DUI but also attempted bribery.
- The dognapper didn’t see the hundred-pound Doberman in the fenced-in yard when he scaled the fence and grabbed the poodle until it was too late. When the Doberman barreled toward him, he dropped the poodle and tried to get back over the fence. The barking brought the owner outside, and he called the police. The dognapper wasn’t hard to spot running down the sidewalk with the seat of his pants ripped out.
- A man kidnapped three employees at a fast-food restaurant and once he had them in the car, he asked where the “good water” was. One of the employees quickly said it was inside the store. The kidnapper climbed out of the car to go inside and the three men grabbed the car keys and ran.
And the answer is…#3! Congrats to all who guessed correctly!
Now for this week’s Mystery Question ~ Really Really Dumb Criminals 21. As usual, three crimes are true, and I made up one–can you guess which one? Leave your answer in the comments, and I’ll enter you in the August drawing for a book from my library!
- Would-be robbers confidently entered the lobby of a business, hid their hands in their jackets like guns, and demanded money from the woman at the front desk. Unfortunately, there was one flaw in the plan – the “business” was actually a police station.
- The would-be bank robber was nervous. So nervous that after he handed the teller the note, he gave her his gun instead of the bag to put the money in. The quick-thinking teller turned the gun on him and held him until police arrived.
- Drive-thru windows aren’t meant to accommodate 6’3″, 270-lb. linemen, but one got stuck when servers at a Taco Bell failed to get this particular former football player’s order right, and he went ballistic. There he remained, half inside and half outside the Taco Bell, until the police arrived to dislodge him, and then arrest him.
- An 18-year-old really, really wanted a yacht, but he couldn’t afford one. So, he decided to steal one. Unfortunately for him, the 45-ft. vessel he picked was still tied to the dock. When the teenager fired up the engine for a joyride, the yacht inched forward and was quickly yanked back into the dock, alerting everyone that something fishy was afoot.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments, and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!
Now for this week’s song:

I feel the peace and calm in that picture and verse. How beautiful! And I love me some Elvis! His gospel music was the best.
This week I’m going with #2.

My s-i-l, Jeff, takes some awesome photos, Gail on Lake Okeechobee. Elvis is one of my favorites, too. We’ll see next week if it’s #2…

Author

Peace!!! The photo and song were perfectly paired!!
No sadness, no sorrow, no trouble-amen
1 & 2 are both really dumb, but I choose 2.
Author
That’s a great word for that photo, Charlotte–it made me think of that verse. We’ll see if it’s #2 next week…
Love the song Peace in the Valley by Elvis Presley
I’m going with #1
Author
Me, too, Crystal. We’ll see…
These are all unbelievable. I am going with #1
Author
They are, aren’t the, Sharon! I stand amazed every week at how dumb criminals can be…We’ll see if it’s #1 next week…
Lovely picture and verse.
I will choose #1

Author
We’ll see!
What a wonderful song. I will say that you made up number 1.
Author
I love that song, Deborah.
I’ll go w/ #4 this week but am glad you always find more of these.
Great photo & song.

Glad you enjoy them, Delores. We’ll see next week!

I’m glad you enjoyed them, Caryl. We’ll see next week if it’s #2.
Gorgeous photo, Pat. Jeff captured the shot beautifully, especially with the reeds in the water. Frame-worthy!
Sure makes you want to belt it with Elvis, doesn’t it?
Going with #2

Jeff did a great job, didn’t he Barbara! I’m glad you enjoyed the post! We’ll see next week if it’s #2…
I love those quiet water shots. Many good points in that verse, but today the one that stand out to me is that Jesus does not give to us as the world gives. How wonderful is that!!!
On to the crazies.
#1. Maybe know what kind of place you’re trying to rob.
#2. Rehearse first to avoid embarrassment.
#3. It’s only fast food. Sheesh.
#4. Way to go, captain dumb-bell.
None of these folks seem to know what they’re doing. I think you made up #1. Who doesn’t know what a police station looks like? Especially, once you get inside. All those uniforms might be a clue.
Author
The uniforms definitely should be a clue, Tim. Just remember, we’re dealing with dumb criminals .
Jeff’s picture is so beautiful, and you’re right, it’s peaceful, too. I had that verse on my phone screen last year. (This year I have Phil 4:4.)
Hm, let’s see … I pick #1 because even if you’re drunk or something you would know if you’re walking into a police station (what with all the patrol cars out front and the uniforms and whatnot).
Author
You would think, wouldn’t you, Priscilla? Be anxious for nothing is one of my favorite verses.
Very nice photo and verse. I hope that he caught something. I am going with #1.
Author
Gloria, he catches quite a few, but releases them. I think the water is not really good. Even though it is peaceful looking. We’ll see you next week if it’s number one.
Lovely photo & verse! God’s peace is so different than the world’s peace! I think #2.
Author
Amen Becky. God‘s piece is the best. We’ll see you next week.
My guess is #1
I love the picture and verse! I have always loved Elvis’s gospel music. Thanks for sharing it.
Author
Carolyn, Elvis is one of my favorites. We’ll see you next week is number one.
Jeff certainly captured a magnificent view! The majesty of God! I agree you can feel the peace and Pat, you paired it with the perfect verse and song! Thanks to both of you for sharing this with us!
These are all really dumb crimes! I can honestly see #2 happening.
#3 is so ridiculous it’s probably true but I’ll guess it’s the one you made up.
Thanks for the laughs!
Author
Love your logic, Mary G. Yes Jeff does capture some really good pictures. We’ll see you next week if it’s number one.

Author
We’ll see you next week, Mary…
You always have great pictures, whether yours or someone else’s. And you match just the right verse with each one. The song goes well with the picture and verse continuing the peaceful theme.
I think something is fishy about #4. Someone who really wants something usually wants it because they have hung around and viewed it. In so doing, it seems they would see that gravity alone does not keep the yacht at the dock.
Author
I’m so glad you enjoyed the photo and verse, Edward. And the song! We’ll see how your logic works out next week…
#3 and really love the Elvis song!
Author
I’m glad, Shelia! We’ll see next week if it’s #3.
I think one. Love Elvis singing gospel music!
Author
We’ll see, Judy. And I thing Elvis’ greatest hits were gosepel!
My guess is #2.
