Criminals and Their Getaway Cars ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 47 Comments

Criminals and Their Getaway Cars is this week’s Mystery Question. I read these earlier and knew I had to use them on the Mystery Question blog!

But first the photo and verse. Every year when honeysuckle blooms it reminds me of a simpler time. A time when I loved to make necklaces from the honeysuckle vines in our backyard. A time when everything was so much simpler and what was right or wrong was easily discovered. A time when life was so much easier and I wasn’t responsible for so much. John 14:27 reminds me of the peace that Jesus gives if I but take hold of it. I hope you enjoy it.

Now onto last week’s More Crazy Laws #36. Three true laws and one made-up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. This state makes it illegal to share your Netflix password with another person. (TN)
  2. Here it’s illegal to throw rice at a wedding.
  3. It’s against the law to outlaw a clothesline here. (VT)
  4. You can’t replace your hunting dog with a ferret here. (WV)

And the correct answer is… #2. It really isn’t illegal to throw rice in any state. Only one person guessed correctly and that was Diana– 🙂

Now for this week’s Mystery Question about Criminals and Their Getaway Cars. Three of the following statements are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. Carjackers took a man’s car and had to abandon it because they couldn’t drive a stick shift.
  2. Police caught two people at a Tesla charging station suspected of stealing more than $8000 in electronics from a store a mere 10 miles away. Seems they forgot to charge their getaway car before the job.
  3. After stealing over $5,000 worth of tools and stuffing them in his backpack, the thief called an Uber to pick him up in front of the store he was robbing. Unfortunately, the Uber driver was late, but the police were not.
  4. A woman discovered her Tesla had been stolen. Her app showed the location of her car with the battery range down to 15 miles. Police followed the stolen car until it ran out of power and came to a stop.
Okay Super Slueths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in an April drawing for a $10 gift card.

What a refreshing photo! Very peaceful. I agree, Pat, honeysuckles do bring back good memories of simpler times. It was always such a profound moment to suck out a minuscule tad of honey. lol

I’m going with #3. I think it would be hard to get 5k worth of stuff in a backpack, or have it displayed without lock and key. But then, I don’t know electronics!

I love that photo, Pat. I don’t recall honeysuckles being around when I was growing up in Michigan. Probably because my parents didn’t have any in our yard. That verse from John should always be on our minds.

Congratulations Diana for getting last week’s question right!

#1. A lot of people can’t drive a stick shift these days. Do they even teach that in driver’s ed. any more?
#2. Did these thieves think their EV would just keep going without a charge. If thieves are getting dumber, maybe there’s hope for less crime… Naw.
#3. Thieves depending on a ride share??? Maybe they are getting dumber.
#4. Once again the EV did the thieves in. I’m detecting a pattern here.
I’m going with #3 as the one you made up this week. That would just require incredible timing or stupidity.

Hi Tim! I hate it that you never experienced honeysuckle! Of course, it grows wild and any conscientious yard person would not have it in his yard since it tends to take over everything! We’ll see next week how your logic works with #3…

Tim, honeysuckle may have been a Southern thing. It grew all over fence rails and in the edges of the woods.

I love the photo and more stress-fee time. I wove necklaces out of clover blossoms–not honeysuckle, but I LIKE that idea.
I’ll also go w/ #3 but they’re all pretty funny except horrifying if true.

Pat, that is such a meaningful verse. I had to stop and look again at the honeysuckle before I recognized it. I’m not sure if there is any remaining on our property. I vaguely remember that we used to pull off a part of the flower and suck the nectar from it. I have forgotten now how we did it. How frustrating.

Regarding last week’s crazy laws, I read on some website that Connecticut passed a law in 1985 that forbade throwing rice at weddings.

All four scenarios sound too true to be false. Also, all of the criminals sound like blundering idiots. I’m choosing #3. I haven’t bought any tools in years, but it seems $5,000 of tools would be a lot to put in a backpack. Standing in front of the store to wait for Uber seems the height of lunacy. At least stroll down the street a ways to catch a ride.

Hi Edward! To get the nectar out of a honeysuckle bloom, pinch the end off and pull the stamen (?) out. The nectar comes with it. 🙂 And I did google about the rice, and it didn’t bring up any laws…shows you can’t always believe St. Googlia. 🙂 Love the way you reasoned your answer out…although have you priced the small electronic tools sold to work on stuff? lol We’ll see next week.

I think the made up one is #1. How could they have stolen the car in the first place and driven far enough to abandon the car if they couldn’t drive a stick? JMHO

Once again my son and I enjoyed your blog post and trying to reason out which one you made up. Our guess for this week is #2. Thanks for another head scratching post! 🙂
