More Crazy Laws #37 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 42 Comments

More Crazy Laws #38 is this week’s Mystery Question. Since no odd crimes caught my attention this week, I decided to go back to the crazy laws. What gets me is, there are that many of them out there!

Now for the photo and verse. I’m not sure where I snapped this photo, only that I took it on January 11…so I checked my Jesus Calling journal, and that’s the day Delores Topliff and I went to Pickwick (a lake on the Tennessee River about 20 miles from my house). I’m assuming that I took the photo at Pickwick. 🙂 And I thought the verse fit perfectly.

Now for last week’s Mystery Question about Criminals and Their Getaway Cars. Three of the following statements are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. Carjackers took a man’s car and had to abandon it because they couldn’t drive a stick shift.
  2. Police caught two people at a Tesla charging station suspected of stealing more than $8000 in electronics from a store a mere 10 miles away. Seems they forgot to charge their getaway car before the job.
  3. After stealing over $5,000 worth of tools and stuffing them in his backpack, the thief called an Uber to pick him up in front of the store he was robbing. Unfortunately, the Uber driver was late, but the police were not.
  4. A woman discovered her Tesla had been stolen. Her app showed the location of her car with the battery range down to 15 miles. Police followed the stolen car until it ran out of power and came to a stop.

And the answer is…#3. Congrats on all who guess correctly.

Now for this week’s More Crazy Laws #37. Three true laws and one made-up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. It is illegal to plant rutabagas in your front yard on Sunday.
  2. Ambling and strolling is a misdemeanor here.
  3. Riding a merry-go-round on Sundays is considered a crime in this state.
  4. You may be convicted of a Class 4 felony offense, punishable by up to three years in state prison, for the crime of “eavesdropping” on your own conversation here.

Okay, Super Slueths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!

Last month’s winner of a $10 gift card is…Megan!

What a beautiful photo! The words of the verse you chose are embedded in this lively song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E_ZIruw_DA

    Congrats Megan!

#1. Who’d want rutabagas in their front yard anyway?
#2. Can’t amble or stroll? Who’d want to live there?
#3. No merry-go-round on Sundays? Bah Humbug!
#4. A class 4 felony for listening to yourself? What does that even mean?
I listen to myself all the time. I definitely would ride a merry-go-round on Sundays. I will amble and stroll whenever and wherever I please unless it would be trespassing. No planting rutabagas on Sunday? I can live with that. I think you made up #1, Pat.

That Scripture certainly does give us hope, especially in the rough times.

My heart and eyes love the vivid colors in the photo, Pat, and my brain sees a big crab, three alligators, a whale and a catfish.

I got the correct answer last week, YES!!!

Now this week, oh my! They are all quite a challenge. I’m going with #3 again. If the carnival or whatever is open on a Sunday and the merry-go-round is there, people will want to use. If the whole park is closed on a Sunday, then it’s no problem for anyone.

Gorgeous photo Pat! Thank you, Pat for the many beautiful photos you have shared over time! I so look forward to them.
    Congratulations Megan.
#4 is very confusing to me. Lol If this is an actual law the lawmakers must have had a nip! Lol If you made this one up Pat your creative juices were in overdrive! Lol
    I’ll guess #1 – I wouldn’t plant rutabaga anywhere

Beautiful picture. I agree that the verse fits perfectly.

I’m scratching my head over these laws. The fourth is so over the top that it has to be true. If you made it up, I hope we don’t have any lawmakers in our state that think like that, because we certainly have enough would quickly vote for it. I’m selecting #2 because that would just be downright unsociable to have such a law.

Awesome photo and verse Patricia, and what beauty the LORD does give us to gaze upon!! Your photos always make me smile.
This week’s crazy laws, I was going Say What??? They’re all way out there, but I’m going with the majority and picking #1. Maybe it’s legal to plant them in the back yard only, or how about not at all? I’m not a fan either of rutabagas.
    Congratulations to Megan!
