What I’m Reading–Seymour Agency Siblings–four more author siblings who are in the Rafflecopter! But first, a word about the photo. It’s the same shot I’ve taken before, but on this particular morning, there was a beautiful reddish glow to the sunrise. Of course, it rained later that day…you know the old saying: red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red skies in the morning, sailor’s warning.

Now onto introducing you to four more Seymour authors!

What I'm Reading--12 Authors

First up this week on What I’m Reading–4 Seymour Agency Siblings: Jennifer Dornbush Jennifer Dornbush

Jennifer is a writer, speaker, and forensic specialist creating a diverse range of stories that shed light on the dark places of the human experience.

Her story creation is bred from a very unsheltered childhood as the daughter of a medical examiner whose office was in her home. She investigated her first fatality, an airplane crash, when she was 8 years old and from there gathered a decade of on-sight experience in death investigation and 360 hours of forensic training through the Forensic Science Academy.

The stories she creates stem from the unique range of human experiences. Because of her background, she does not shy away from telling stories about tough circumstances and how characters choose to deal with them. The featured book, Hole in the Woods is a riveting story ripped from the headlines. Jennifer took the court transcripts and created a gritty, fictionalized version. Like Danielle M. Haas’s Bound by Danger (which I forgot to mention in last week’s post) it contains strong language, violence, sexual content.Hole in the Woods

Another facet of Jennifer’s career involves her feature film, the inspirational God Bless the Broken Road. I missed the movie (and you can get it here)when it came out, but I read the book and it reads just like a movie–I’ll do a review of it soon!

Next up on What I’m Reading–4 Seymour Agency Siblings is Kathy Harris.

Kathy Harris is an author by way of a “divine detour” into the Nashville entertainment business. But what do you do when God places a fork in the road? This is what she says:

“After graduating from college, I had two dreams. One of writing. The other of working in the music industry. I chose the latter because the path that led to music was clear. I had a job offer, a place to live, and a plan.”

So, after graduating with a Communications degree, she moved to

Deadly CommitmentTennessee to work in the Christian music industry. That position soon transitioned into what would become a 30-year Country music marketing career

“Through the years,” she says, “I’ve looked forward to the time and circumstances that would lead me back to writing. Not long ago, I saw a clearing ahead where two roads appeared to merge – the road I was on and the other I had also dreamed of taking.”

And that time has come. Deadly Commitment released in October 2019. I reviewed it on my Reader Friday blog here.

Kathy writes romantic suspense and women’s fiction. Visit her website, read her Divine Detour blog or follow her on FacebookTwitter or Instagram.

Next up on What I’m Reading–4 Seymour Agency Siblings: LL Kaplan. Lisa (as I know her) is not yet published, but I believe that will soon change.
Lisa is an attorney and former prosecutor who spent twenty years as an FBI Special Agent. After never finding one X-file, she gave up and retired. Now she pLL Kaplanens crime fiction where justice prevails but doesn’t always end in handcuffs. She also enjoys writing stories featuring talking turkeys, clever cats and other snarky sorts. Here is one of the books to be on the look-out for:Slow Burn by LL Kaplan

ADA Casey McKittrick was orphaned at 5 years old when her home burned to the ground. Casey remembers the ragged flames rising from the rug and floorboards as she ran away and hid. The fire was ruled accidental, but only Casey knows she’s the real reason her family died. She’s hidden it well all these years, but on the 30th anniversary of the fire, her carefully constructed world begins to unravel. Casey is forced to realize that she and her guilty secret may no longer be safe.

Sinde LL Kaplan doesn’t have a book out yet, she’s giving away two $10 gift cards.

And last but not least this week on What I’m Reading–4 Seymour Agency Siblings is Ramona Richards.

I met Ramona way back in 2009 or 2010 at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers. After that, our paths crossed many times at other writers conferences. It’s been so much fun getting to know her! Here’s a little more about her from her website.

“I love making people laugh and sigh. I want to engage people with stories that thrill them, inspire them, and make them dream.

Y’see, I come from a long line of storytellers. At any family gathering, you could find me on the porch with the yarn spinners. My mother tells me that by the time I was three, I began making up my own stories.

In fact, most of the pictures taken of me during that time caught me either mid-tale or mid-song. This one was taken at a “dinner on the grounds.” I was about three, and, boy, did those crinolines itch!

Becoming a writer and speaker was merely a matter of time. So I hope you’ll “set a-spell,” and maybe find something you like.”

No cold case is more important than the one that destroyed her own family

Every small town has one unsolved case that haunts its memory, festering for generations below the surface with the truth of humanity’s darkness. Star Cavanaugh is obsessed with the one that tore her family apart.

Over sixty years ago, Daisy Doe was murdered and discarded outside Pineville, Alabama, buried without a name or anyone to mourn her loss. When Star’s father tried to solve the case, he was also killed. Now a cold-case detective with resources of her own, Star is determined to get to the bottom of both crimes. But she’ll have to face an entire town locked in corruption, silence, and fear–and the same danger that took two other lives. The only people in the town she can trust are her grandmother and the charming Mike Luinetti, and both of them trust a God Star isn’t sure she believes in. Can Christians so focused on the good really help her track down this evil?

Burying Daisy Doe may sound familiar–I reviewed it in October!

Pat, one of my devotionals today is from Matthew 16 and in verses 2 & 3, Jesus talks about the red sky warnings in that scripture. As many times as I have read that scripture I don’t remember making that association with the saying. How interesting that you used that saying and I read it in my devotional. And I recently read the passage in my reading in the Chronological Bible.

Pat, what a great picture! Those clouds look as though they were very nearly the same color of the clouds I saw at sunset on Tuesday. The glow of the rising sun through the trees is striking. I love that verse as it suits the picture so well.
