Lynette Eason’s Active Defense–What I’m Reading

Lynette Eason's Active Defense; 2 Cor 4:6

Lynette Eason’s Active Defense is what I’m reading this week. And I’m here to tell you, this is a book that will be very hard to put down once you start it.

But first the photo and scripture. 1 Corinthians 4:6 is one of my favorite scripture verses to quote–it has such a cadence to it that lifts me up. And I thought the photo went very well with it.

Now on to Lynette Eason’s Active Defense

Lynette Eason's Active DefenseAs a former field surgeon in Afghanistan, Heather Fontaine is used to life-or-death situations. She just didn’t expect them to follow her home. When she returns from a party to find that someone has broken into her house–and threatened her friends–she assumes it is the stalker who has been following her and creeping her out. She hopes to find safety and peace of mind by leaving the city and hi

ding out in a small town. But trouble has followed her even there.

Luckily, a stalker isn’t the only one watching Heather. Travis Walker has been secretly watching out for her for weeks. As the owner of his own security agency, it’s what he does. Together, Travis and Heather must figure out who wants her dead–and why–before it’s too late.

Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason will have you looking over your shoulder as you dive into this fast-paced, suspense-filled story about losing control and finding something even better.

My take on Lynette Eason’s Active Defense:

Oh, wow! Just when I think Lynette Eason can’t outdo herself, she writes another book! Active Defense is full of interesting characters and twists and turns you don’t expect.

I was captured in the first chapter when Heather Fontaine tried to save a suicide bomber. That would be enough to scar anyone and when an opportunity comes up, she takes a furlough back home to the States. She has friends who care about her, one in particular. She’s been on Travis Walker’s radar for some time now. And it helps that he has his own security firm, especially when someone tries to kill Heather.

Heather was a great heroine, brave, strong, but broken. And Travis hopes he’s the man to help her put the pieces back together. Brought up in the foster care system, it’s hard for Heather to open up to anyone or to trust. I loved the way Eason worked this out.

Another character I fell in love with was Ryker, a teenage boy that helped them. Just like Heather’s father beat her, Ryker’s father did the same thing. They connected almost immediately.

This was just a great book that I really enjoyed reading and think my readers will, too.

Thank you for sharing this scripture as it was what I needed. Mama transitioned to heaven four weeks ago tonight and I feel like I’m in a dark tunnel but for the light of Christ. Blessings

I’ve had you in my prayers, Lucy. Even as we rejoice for our loved ones when they go to Jesus, it hurts. And while I wish I could call my own mother back from heaven for my sake because I still miss her, she is in a place I can’t even imagine. I do promise it gets better. We never quit missing our loved ones, but time helps it not be so raw.

Thank you for sharing your photo and matching Scripture. Jesus is indeed the light of the world; creator of all light!

I discovered Lynette Eason soon after I started reading Christian suspense almost 10 years ago. I couldn’t get enough of her books, and have never been disappointed by her. I read “Active Defense” right after it came out, and I completely agree with your assessment. It’s a part of a great series called “Danger Never Sleeps”.

Toni, I really wish I could listen to audiobooks, but somehow I just can’t process them…I find myself drifting off and thinking about what I need to be writing. lol Thanks for stopping by!

A great picture and Scripture combination as always. You could start a sideline making posters to sell. I look forward to these.

I don’t recall how long I have been a Lynette Eason fan, but have been on her influencer team through the past several series. I enjoyed your comments about this book. She has another in the series coming out sometime this summer, I believe it is.

Thanks, Edward! I hadn’t thought about making posters…of course it’d have to be in my spare time…of which I have none. lol I’ve been a Lynette Eason fan since before I was published. We’re in several groups together and I’ve met her at a few conferences, the last two Writers Police Academy where we get to learn all kinds of ways to kill people. lol Thanks for stopping by!

I have several Lynette Eason’s books on my shelf….though I hate to admit I haven’t read any of them yet or any other ones by her. It’s a matter of having too many books to choose from & I really need to be in the mood for suspense. This last year with the pandemic, I’ve shied away from that genre and have read more contemporary. I’m thinking of easing back into it because there are many authors that I love their writing and many more “new-to-me” that I want to read.

Thanks for your thoughts on this book Patricia! This series is one I can borrow from my library 🙂
