Really Really Dumb Criminals 14 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Uncategorized 56 Comments

Really Really Dumb Criminals 14 is this week’s Mystery Question. It’s always fun to research these dumb criminals. It is amazing just how dumb they are. I hope you enjoy this week’s offering.

But first the photo and verse. I took the photo last week on a walk around my neighborhood. Years ago, almost every home in Corinth had azaleas around its house. It was always so pretty to drive around town and see them all. Alas, that generation has mostly passed on, and the younger one hasn’t replaced the azaleas as they too pass on. This one was almost hidden in the corner of a yard. And I’ve always loved this verse for spring.

Now for last week’s Mystery Question, Really Really Dumb Criminals 13. As usual, four choices, three of which are true. I made up one–can you guess which one?
  1. If you’re going to rob a store, don’t do it in the middle of a snowstorm. That’s what one guy did, and the police quickly tracked him to his apartment.
  2. Should you get caught trying to rob a bank, please don’t try to represent yourself in a trial, but if you do, don’t say to the judge: “I’d just like to point out that you can’t tell that was me on camera because I was wearing a hat.” It didn’t take the jury long to reach a verdict.
  3. Should you decide to get drunk like one guy did who stole traffic cones, be sure to remove the one on your head when you drop the ones you’re carrying when a cop comes along. He didn’t and wasted his robotic I’m-sober-walk.
  4. Don’t be like the guy who committed arson and then threw the gas can in a dumpster beside the burning building. A gas can with his name on it.

And the answer is the very popular #2. Congrats all who guessed correctly! (#3 was really funny, though and really happened)

Now for this week’s Mystery Question, Really Really Dumb Criminals 14. As usual, four choices, three of which are true. I made up one–can you guess which one?
  1. If you’re drinking and involved in a hit-and-run, like this dude, don’t go home, park your motorcycle in your garage, and then set fire to said garage to burn the cycle up in a fire. All because he thought that if there was no cycle, the police couldn’t charge him with DUI. They charged him with a lot more.
  2. It’s never a good idea to rob the house where you’re house sitting. That’s what this one chick did. Then she pawned the goods at the shop closest to the house, and the police quickly caught her. But the charges went from petty theft to criminal mischief when she poured bleach all over the house to “get rid of her fingerprints.”
  3. Don’t be like this guy who smashed up his car and claimed he hit a deer. He even went so far as to shave his dog and shove hair in the cracks.
  4. This is what happens when you embezzle from your employer and don’t listen to your lawyer. The client could have easily returned the money and been sentenced to time served. Instead, he fled the country with classified military technology and, of course, was caught. Time served turned into twenty years.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments, and I’ll enter you in an April drawing for a book from my library.
As you can see, I’ve been playing around with Bookbrush. 🙂 I love making graphics for my books!

And now for this Tuesday’s song:

It’s frightening to think these people are walking around among us. It’s hard to hoose, but I’ll go w/ #1 this week. It seems just a bit too far-fetched, but the others come close–especially dog hairs in the car dents… I

Beautiful blooms! I remember Tennessee Ernie Ford on I Love Lucy. He played Lucy’s silly country cousin who could sing. Anyway, I’m going with #4 this week because it sounds too sophisticated for it NOT to be made up.

Oh mercy! These are really far out. I’m going with #2 because I used to do a lot of housesitting. I can’t imagine doing all that to someone’s home. Terrible! I do hope you made that one up.

    The photo is stunning. Wow!

Your book brush photo does look like fun! You go, girl!

I think #1 is the made up scenario.
My mom always had azaleas. They are so pretty!
My parents listened to Tennessee Ernie Ford when I was a kid. Somewhere, I still have his religious album. I’m glad you shared that song. It brought back some fond memories.

Great photo, Pat. My mom was a big fan of azaleas, too. Among other things, flowers remind us there is a season for everything as the Preacher tells us.
Ernie Ford certainly had a great voice. Thanks for including that song today.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Where do they all come from?
#1. This guy’s reasoning makes no sense at all. Guess he qualifies for the category.
#2. If she’s house sitting, why in the world would she try to remove her fingerprints. They would surely be expected to be present.
#3. Was he trying to cover for DUI? Why else make it look like a deer hit him. Hmm.
#4. This one is really weird. He took money, but left the country with military technology. Was he out on bail? Something’s missing here (beside the money and classified info).
You made them all up. They’re all too dumb to be true! Well, I’ll guess #4 because it seems flakier than the others.

They are quite flaky, Tim! I get these from lawyers whose clients supply the dumb deeds. lol
I was lamenting the lack of azaleas in our town anymore. Years ago the shrubs were at almost every house, and we drove around town in the spring looking at all the beautiful blooms. Alas, that generation has died off and the younger ones aren’t planting them now, maybe because of the hard winters. I lost three this year. Not sure I’m going to replace them…
Oh, we’ll see next week if it’s Dumb one #4…

I love azaleas, especially when someone else plants and cares for them. 🙂 We have two bushes, each a different shade of pink. I’m not sure I’ve seen any the exact shade of the ones pictured. That is a great verse for every season. I can’t recall hearing Tennessee Ernie Ford’s rendition of His Eye Is on the Sparrow. I wonder if he and Ethel Waters ever sang it as a duet?

These are all crazy. Seems Tim and I haven’t been hitting on much lately, even with us picking different ones. I’m choosing #1. It is beyond dumb. It is ludicrous. Trying to cover up DUI when involved in hit and run? Since there are so many crazy laws, I don’t know whether DUI or hit and run carry a heavier penalty. Maybe it depends on what you hit.

In finding these, Edward, I’ve decided that if they’d listent to their lawyer or just stick to the crime without doing something else dumb they’d be better off…of course we know they’d be better off if they didn’t do the bad stuff in the first place. 🙂

I think #3 is made up< but they are all really stupid things to even think about doing! Your flowers are absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks, Becky. I wish I had a bush like that in my yard, but it’s my neighbor’s and I get to enjoy it almost as much as they do. 🙂 Omce I had a bush like that one that covered practically the whole side of my house. Then a hard freeze that lasted over a week got it. I thought it was graveyard-dead, but it’s starting to cme out a little. It was a nice healthy bush until our ice storm. But adversity must make it stronger because it’s still here this time, bit back a little, but growing…

      We’ll see if it’s #3 next week…

Pat, the azaleas are gorgeous! When I moved to my condo many years ago there were five beautiful azaleas in front of my window. Alas, they only survived a few years.
I understand Eccl. 3:1 differently now than when I was young.
Although I’m in the minority, I’ll guess #3

I am picking #4. #3 is too strange to make up. Thanks for posting Tennessee Ernie Ford. He could sing the phone book to me, and I would listen all the way through. Such a beautiful voice.

I so agree Jenny Carlisle! He has one of those wonderful voice you never get tired of hearing. And he was a good man…don’t get too many of then in show business anymore. We’ll see next week if it’s 4…

They are certainly an Easter flower, Gail. And there are so many varieties. My mother-in-law bought a double bloom deep rose azalea with white in the center and planted it in the yard. Well, her son, my husband, didn’t see it mowed it down. She’d gone to town shopping and by the time she returned he had replaced it with anther one, and if she ever noticed, she didn’t say anything.

Pat, the same thing happened to a bottle brush plant I had. My kids surprised me for Mother’s Day by weeding my flower beds. They meant well but pulled up my plant by mistake. I never said a word.

We usually had our photos taken on the front porch at Easter when we walked out the door to chuch. Mother didn’t trust us to stay clean until after lunch. Easter was the one time I got a new outfit, and a new pair of shoes because I’d outgrown mine. that fit again!

      We’ll see if it’s #2 next weem!

hmmm… they all sound “dumb!” and to think three of these are true! I’ll guess #4, because it involves stealing military secrets…

Your flower picture is beautiful! I’ve never seen a mixture of the pink and white larger blooms, it’s stunning! I have three azaleas, one is really huge but a solid magenta pink. I wish they would stay in bloom all summer, they are a favorite.

Well, these crazy laws are hard and people can do dumb things, but I’m going to guess #2, she sounds like she could be blonde! Lol!

I love azaleas, Dottie. That one belonged to a friend and it used to cover the corner of her backyard, it was that huge. And I wish they could bloom all summer, too! Well see next week if it’s #2…and they all sound like blondes to me. lol
