Even More Fun Facts

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I really wish the atmosphere present during this season could be with us all year!

This time last year I was on the Hallelujah Boat on the Sea of Galilee! Those are the Golan Heights you see in the background.

I didn’t meet my NaNoWrMo goal of 50,000 words since edits on Standoff, the first Natchez Trace Park Rangers book, came in and that killed two weeks of the month! But I am now past 50,000 words on Crosshairs, the second book in the series!

Now onto last week’s mystery Question: Four fact, three are true; one is not. Can you guess which one isn’t true?
  1. A flushed toilet rotates the opposite way in the Southern hemisphere.
  2. Lassie was always played by a male dog.
  3. The Bard never used the name William Shakespeare.
  4. At one time ‘girl’ was used for any child, male or female.

And the made up one was #1! I would have thought it would have reversed in a different hemisphere. lol.

And the winner of November’s drawing for a book from my library is…Linda Horin

And the winner of the Thanksgiving $10 Amazon gift card is…Edward Arrington!

Congratulations!!

Now onto this week’s Mystery Question. Again
  1. The largest bill issued for public circulation is a $5,000 bill.
  2. Silence is golden but the longest anyone has been able to tolerate total silence is 45 minutes.
  3. We all use x’s in our texts and notes to represent kisses but did you know it was first used n 1763 for that purpose?
  4. A jiffy is an actual amount of time–33.4 picoseconds.

Okay Super Sleuths, what’s the fact that I made up? Leave your answers in the comment section and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a $10 Amazon gift card. Since this month, the 16th will be the last Super Sleuth post until January this will be a weekly drawing so get your comments in by Monday night! That’s a drawing for a $10 Amazon gift card on the 9th and 16th!

I’m going to go with number two this time. I just feel like some people could enjoy total silence for a lot longer than that. Like seriously, I read for like 1-2 hours non-stop, and surely you could easily get so distracted you don’t notice it’s been silent for awhile. Though I probably don’t have any experience with true silence, since I have 8 siblings!! 😛

Pat, I think you’re being sneaky. I’m going with #1 again this week. Your wording implies current usage, and not past usage. Those were all good ones, though. There are some things in life I wish were really over in a jiffy.
I applaud you’re writing goals getting met. Anyone can write fast, but writing well takes real talent, and that is what you have.

Pat, it feels good to win again! Thank you for the work you put into making it possible and all the interesting trivia you share in these posts. I agree with you about the first “fact” last week. After choosing the wrong answer, I looked that one up and realized that the only logical way it could be true is if they constructed toilets to release the water into the bowl from the opposite direction. My logic failed that time because I didn’t think about the way they are manufactured. Having rambled about that, I am choosing #1 this week. I should KNOW the answer since I spent my career in banking, but I don’t. I worked in IT and never handled the cash.

I’m going to go with #1 this week on the off chance you’ve tried to trick us and use the same number as last week, lol!

Thanksgiving was spent with my sister-in-law. We always travel four hours and spend the weekend with her, this year she bought a house so it was fun to celebrate the first holiday in it. My niece and her cooked the traditional turkey meal and I brought up my homemade pumpkin pies. It was a short trip, but great family time since we don’t get a to see them a lot. The weather was cold but sunny, so that’s something!
