I hope you enjoy our Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt! I’m Patricia Bradley, and I write suspense with a twist of romance. I’ve found it much easier to kill a character off than to get them together. LOL You can find more information about my books on my book page, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The newest book will release May 5, 2020, and you can find preorder links here.

Here’s what Standoff, the first Natchez Trace Park Ranger book is about:

The Natchez Trace National Parkway stretches 444 miles from Nashville to Natchez, the oldest town on the Mississippi River. It’s the perfect road for a relaxed pleasure drive. Unfortunately for park ranger Luke Fereday, lately it’s being used to move drugs. Sent to Natchez to infiltrate the organization at the center of the drug ring, Luke arrives too late to a stakeout and discovers the body of his friend, park ranger John Danvers.

John’s daughter Brooke is determined to investigate her father’s murder, but things are more complicated than they first appear, and Brooke soon finds herself the target of a killer who will do anything to silence her. Luke will have his hands full keeping her safe. But who’s going to keep him safe when he realizes he’s falling–hard–for the daughter of the man he failed to save?

I love that the story is set on the Natchez Trace near Natchez, MS, and I’d love to tell you a little about the Trace.

The Natchez Trace

The actual Old Trace

If you had been born in the late 1700s or early 1800s and you were traveling from New Orleans to Nashville, you would have made your way to Natchez, Mississippi and taken the 444-mile long Natchez Trace because it was too difficult to go upriver. The steamboat hadn’t been invented yet.

The modern-day Trace, as it’s usually called, commemorates the historic route created by bison in their quest for salt licks and food. Then came American Indians, pioneer settlers, traders and even General Andrew Jackson’s soldiers as they marched to New Orleans for the War of 1812.

During this time, the Trace was a very dangerous place to travel as bandits and robbers lay in wait along the lonely stretches of the Trace. One of the most notorious was the Mason-Harpe gang who had a hefty price put on their heads. Eventually, the gang members turned on each other to collect the bounty.

Most travelers traveled in groups for protection. Along the way were inns that were little more than four-room cabins with a dog-trot in the middle. Travelers often slept on the front porches or ground.

Fast-forward two hundred years and the Trace is still harboring evil in the form of murder and cartels running drugs from Natchez to Nashville and beyond. That’s where Luke Fereday steps in. He’s a special agent of the National Park Service Investigative Service Branch, and he’s out to catch the drug runners who killed his friend. Joining him is Brooke Danvers, who has a personal interest in the case.

Here’s the Stop #27 Basics: If you’re interested, you can pre-order Standoff, Natchez Trace Park Rangers on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, CBD or at your local bookstore!
