When Silence Breaks, by Elizabeth Goddard is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: “Secrets can’t stay buried forever.”
But first the photo and verse. My granddaughter, Ashley, took this on her way to work the other day, and I loved it. The cloud looks like an angel praying. What does it look like to you? The verse–that’s the one I camp out on when I have something major going on in my life.
Now for When Silence Breaks, by Elizabeth Goddard. This is the beginning of a new series, Mercy Ridge Book #1. Here’s the cover and back copy:

My take:
Oh, my! This is a riveting, fast-paced story that I couldn’t stop listening to. The story quickly drew me in, and Goddard’s description of the Cascade Mountains put me there. This story had twists and turns that took me by surprise, and I usually can figure out who the bad guys are early.
Both Ryder and Sarah were great protagonists, and I loved Ryder’s mom. She was a sweetheart. Once again Elizabeth Goddard has knocked it out of the ballpark!

I think the sky looks like God is talking to someone because there are always streaks in the sky in movies when a character gets a revelation from God.

The photo brings peace to me. I see the angel praying, too. Only Jesus brings perfect peace as the verse confirms. I enjoyed your song choice, too.
I recently read “When Silence Breaks” and all I can say is WOW! Elizabeth can certainly hold your attention.
“Mei Lin inhaled the scents of diesel and old upholstery as she would the finest incense, watching the skyscrapers shrink in the rear window —and willing the bus to move faster.” This is the first line from “Shadowing You” by Robin Patchen which I’m reading now. Robin is another author who can really weave a story you can’t put down.
Tim, I have Elizabeth’s book on my desk, just waiting until I have time to read it. I was a first reader on Robin’s book. I agree with your comment about her books.

Looks like two angels to me. In front of the big angel I see a small Scottish Terrier. I agree with Tim—this pic brings peace. It also seems strange to see flatlands instead of mountains! Ha! 🙂

My first thought when I saw the picture was of the Great Shepherd watching over His sheep. After someone mentioned an angel, I can see that also. Great verse! I can remember singing Victory in Jesus with the congregation way back in my childhood. By the time I was in my teens, I could tell you the page number in the hymnal we used at church (I think it was page 242), but I no longer needed the hymnal to know the words.
As I shared with Tim, I have Elizabeth’s book on my desk, hoping to get to it in the next couple of weeks. First, I will be reading Defending the Innocent Target by Carol J. I am currently reading Masquerade Marriage by Anne Greene. It is a very different type of book than I usually read. It is a Christian historical book set in Scotland during a war. Once I figured out the Scottish terminology, I began enjoying the story.

I definitely see the angel in the sky, and the dog, and even a bird standing still to the left of the angel! I agree with others, it is very peaceful.
I just finished “Anchoring You” by Robin Patchen, which was excellent, and decided to start the next one in the series, “Shadowing You”, which I can tell is going to be very good as well. I know I need to read the one you reviewed, it will go on my growing list!
