The Temporary Family Rescue ;1 Chron 16:9

The Temporary Family Rescue by Jo Grafford is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: A winter storm continues to blast southeastern Texas, leaving an unprecedented trail of ice, snow, and power outages…

But first the photo and verse. I love this verse. It’s a comforting verse and reminds me to stay committed to God. I took the photo from the window of an airplane just before take-off. That’s one of the perks of flying early. 🙂

Now for The Temporary Family Rescue by Jo Grafford. Here’s the cover and back copy:

The Temporary Family RescueA cowboy private investigator who doesn’t want to spend another Christmas alone. A single mom in a pack of trouble, trying to lie low for the holidays. The snowstorm that blows in a few sizzling possibilities.

Following a chance encounter, East Whitlock hasn’t been able to get a certain sassy redhead out of his mind. Though the feisty single mom insists she can take care of herself and her small son, he can’t stand the thought of anyone so sweet and lovely being alone for Christmas — in a friend’s warehouse, no less. Every instinct in him is shouting that she’s in trouble, and he happens to have the right skill set to help her. With no family to spend Christmas with, it’s not like he has anything better to do, anyway.

Becky Pershing is preparing to go on the run. Before she hits the road, however, she manages to catch the attention of a former Texas Ranger working an undercover case. Though he’s a perfect gentleman, who makes her feel safer when he’s around, she refuses to flirt back. She won’t be in town long enough to date him, so why bother?

Until the snowstorm of the century hits, stranding her and her son with the one man in Texas whose kind heart she might not be able to resist.

My Take:

Oh, my goodness. I loved this sweet, Suspense story, especially since East kept calling Becky darlin’. The suspense kept me flipping the pages on my kindle to see what was happening next.

I so didn’t need to read until midnight Sunday night! In case you didn’t know I have a book to finish. I picked up The Temporary Family Rescue, thinking I would read a chapter to relax. Not! I got caught up in the story and kept saying just one more chapter… This was a thoroughly satisfying story.

Jo Grafford has written a whole series of these Inspirational suspense stories and I’m working my way through them. They’re small, about the size of a Love Inspired Suspense and if you’re looking for a quick read that will hold your attention, these will do it.

You can purchase The Temporary Family Rescue on Amazon and they’re in KU.

Don’t you love it when a book is so good it keeps you up past your bedtime? I am reading Dastardly Deeds at St Bride’s by Debbie Young, great fun! The first line: “What on earth was that circling her neck?”

Striking photo, Pat. And the verse reminds us that God is actively seeking us out to strengthen us. What a comfort!

“Temporary Family Rescue” sounds interesting, and I think you’ve once again found another great author for us. Any more, and I’ll be reading all day long. I’ll need an index to my TBR list.

“Was that the Windigo?” Nine-year-old Annie Vitanen yanked her little sister’s hand to pull her to a stop in the deep shadows of the pines. Chills trickled down her spine, and she stared into the darkness. “Did you hear that?” is the beginning of “Edge of Dusk by Colleen Coble; the first of a series. Windigo is a local, legendary monster, by the way. Thank you again, Gloria, for introducing me to Colleen Coble. Reading this book first would have helped me to better understand her second book in the series, “Dark of Night”.

Tim, when I first started reading Christian fiction on a regular basis, some of Colleen Coble’s books were the first ones I found at our public library. I’m always ready for another good read when I see her name on the book. I have read the one you shared from above, but I don’t think I have seen her latest one yet. That may be because I haven’t been to the library for a while.

Edward, I’m finding Colleen’s books really good. I’ve just pre-ordered the “Break of Day” which is the last of this series and due out July 4. It doesn’t hurt that the stories are set in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, a very beautiful part of the country, and unique in many ways. Since I’ve vacationed a number of times in that particular area, it has even more meaning to me.

Great photo! Did you see the bear’s head in the middle of the upper right clouds? 😉

The Scripture is also powerful…”to strengthen those who hearts are fully committed to him. Now that’s resting in the Lord!

The Temporary Family Rescue sounds like another intriguing one. Love page turners and always a good story including a Texas Ranger!

“Friends warm a room better than any fireplace,” is the first line in With Winter’s First Frost, by Kelly Irvin. I’m hoping to start it this afternoon.

    Bless you.

I’m reading Inheritance, the second book in the Collin Walker series by Colleen Snyder. “Glass shattered. Metal screamed as it shredded into a thousand shards.”
Colleen Snyder is a new-to-me author. I started Book 1, Verdict at the River’s Edge, on Sunday. I’m already almost done with Book 2, so yes, I’m enjoying her series immensely. 🙂

That’s a great photo and scripture. This sounds like a good book and the author is new to me. I am so glad that you are enjoying Colleen’s books, Tim. Don’t forget to check out her Rock Harbor series when you can. I just finished The Cairo Curse by Pepper Basham. This is another fun series. The first line:
    February 1914, Havensbrook
Gunfire erupted from outside, sending Frederick Percy, Earl of Astley, leaping from his chair.

Pat, as much as I love your picture and others like it, I’m not sure it’s enough to entice me to take an early morning flight. LOL! Of course, I can’t think of anywhere that I need to fly to for now. But, when I do, I’ll be doing all I can to get a mid-day flight. That is a great Scripture verse.

I’m reading Jody Hedlund’s The Last Chance Cowboy, scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day. Since it’s available for pre-order, I think it should be okay to share the first line. This is the final book in her Colorado Cowboys series.
