Texas Cold Case Threat — Reader Friday

Texas Cold Case Threat; Ps 92:1-2

Texas Cold Case Threat by Jessica R. Patch is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: You got the wrong guy. If you haven’t read any of Jessica’s books, you are missing some good reads! More on that later…

But first the photo and Scripture verse. The photo was taken from the fifth floor of a condo on Destin Beach where I was visiting my grandson. It was just before dark and that’s why the blue hue. I thought the verse fit the photo nicely.

Now onto Texas Cold Case Threat by Jessica R. Patch. Here’s the cover and back copy:

Texas Cold Case ThreatWhen a cold case turns hot, an isolated ranch goes from refuge…to crime scene.

After a murderer sends her taunting letters, FBI behavioral analyst Chelsey Banks retreats to a friend’s ranch—and interrupts the housekeeper being attacked. When evidence connects the break-in to a cold-case serial killer, Chelsey’s best friend, Texas Ranger Tack Holliday, needs her help. With Tack at her side, this could be Chelsey’s chance to catch two killers—unless one of them gets her first.

From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.

Quantico Profilers

My take:

Jessica R. Patch’s writing just keeps getting better and better. This USA Today Best Selling author keeps the tension high in this twisty, high-octane book. Her characters quickly pull you into the story. And Tack Holliday..mmhhmm. He sounds like a dream with his broad shoulders and Glock on his hip…and don’t forget about his integrity.

Chelsey Banks is struggling with giving a profile that targeted the wrong man, and now that man is dead from a prison murder. It’s her fault. There’s no way she can make it right. Not to mention, the real mass shooter is running free and taunting her about her mistake. He’s also trying to kill her.

And then there’s the serial killer who is targeting women who have no one to protect them. When Chelsey and Tack go after him, he turns the tables and goes after them. He almost succeeds. This is a fast-paced story that won’t let you go until the very last page.

Like I said earlier, Jessica R. Patch is a fantastic writer, one that will keep you up past midnight if you’re not careful. You can find buy links here.

Okay, leave me the first line of the book you’re reading in the comments and I’ll enter you in an April drawing for a book in my library.

March’s winner is…Sally Jo Pitts!

Good review, Patricia. Lovely photo and verse, too. I’m reading a children’s book written by a blogger I follow. “The trial was held in Hanging Square, not far from Lowdar’s town gate.” It’s from a MG fantasy, The Lucky Diamond by Valinora Troy

That is a fantastic photo, Pat, and your choice of Scripture is a great match.

Thank you for introducing me to Jessica’s books. I agree, she is a great spinner of tales. I recently read this book, and all I can say is hang on to your Stetson!

“Gage Watson blamed the trouble on the bright, sunny day.” is the first line of “A Matter of Trust” by Susan May Warren. Susan is another author you introduced to me, and I’m so glad you did. “A Matter of Trust” is a fast paced rescue race down a treacherous peak in Glacier National Park. Wow.

    Congrats to Sally Jo.

Thanks, Tim. I’m glad you liked the photo and verse. 🙂 I love Jessica’s books and SMW’s too! What I learned from her is the reason I’m published. Thanks for stopping by!

I’ll have to admit, I did gasp when I opened this post and there was the lovely ocean scene. Wow, you captured the sky meeting the water perfectly. Amazing with the blue hues…and did you see the little dough boy in the clouds to the left of the lower middle? It surely is good to give thanks to the Lord. I’m glad God loves color!

You certainly got me interested in reading Texas Cold Case Threat, Pat. I haven’t read anything by Jessica Patch, yet. And the TBR pile continues to grow….

Fun blog, btw. Thanks for all the thought and creativity you put into them! I look forward to Tuesday and Friday mornings!

Lovely photo and scripture to go with it. I still need to read a Jessica Patch book. I am reading Sea Glass Cottage by Irene Hannon.

I love Jessica Patch!! In fact, I had reviewed for her when she first started writing for Love Inspired. It’s been FAR too long since I’ve read one of her books though, and need to play catch up 🙂 The draw for me to want to read it, is the heroine is an FBI behavioral analyst. I just love when a woman is in a non-traditional, strong role in a book. Makes for a very interesting read!

Beautiful picture to go along with a beautiful verse. Thanks for sharing it Patricia!
Congrats to Sally Jo Pitts on being the March winner!!

Have a great weekend everyone 🙂

Oh and I follow directions really well, don’t I?? LOL!! I forgot to leave the first line of what I’m reading, do her goes:

      “New York City
      New Year’s Eve 1882

Willow Dupre twirled on the ice, spreading her arms and guiding her body around the other skaters on the frozen lake of Central Park.” from My Dear Miss Dupre by Grace Hitchcock

Oh good to know the second book is just as good! I’m almost half through Miss Dupre and savoring every moment. Though it’s killing me not knowing who she will choose for a husband (I never spoil it by reading the end). I have my favorite, of course, but we’ll see! Pure torture, I tell ya…

Beautiful photo! I don’t know if you have ever heard the Pfeifer’s sing. They sing a song based on that scripture. Good choice.

I can’t share the first line of the book I am reading. I am doing a first read on Nerves of Steele by Susan Sleeman. Great story.

Beautiful picture with the different blue tones. Jessica’s book sounds really good. Going to have to check it out. I’m reading the Debutante’s Code by Erica Vetsch. If you lean out any farther, you’ll wind up in the drink.

Love the photo! Jessica is a writer to watch!
My first line comes from All That It Takes by Nicole Deese:
As the door to our new life swung open and my ten-year-old son rushed across the threshold to explore the second-story apartment, the you-break-it- you-buy-it policy flashed across my mind like a hazard warning.
    Just finished this fabulous book!

I enjoyed this review, and would love to read this book!
Here is my first line (actually its the first paragraph… 😉 ):
Mama thought I was asleep the night ‘fore I was sold. I wasn’t I was looking a the patterns of the shadows on the wall, but she couldn’t see my eyes from where she sat.
–Where the Last Rose Blooms by Ashley Clark
I can’t say enough good about this enchanting series. This is the 3rd book, and I really couldn’t say which I’ve loved most, they’re all really good.
    Happy Monday!
