Snowbound Amish Survival; SOS 2:11-12

Snowbound Amish Survival by Mary Alford is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: Outside the wind howled around the corner of the house with enough fury to shake windows.

Now for the photo and verse. This photo was taken in March of 2016 when I drove over to Memphis to research material for Justice Buried, which was set at the Pink Palace. I think Song of Solomon 2:11-12 was the first Scripture verses I memorized. Why those verses, I’ll never know. But every spring when I see the first blooms I remember them.

Now then…

Because I’m reading several books for endorsement, I don’t have time to read two long books a week. So, for the next couple of weeks, I’ll be reviewing shorter books. I have to say I am really enjoying them! I loved this one in particular. Well, I really love them all! lol I’ve heard people say they don’t like Amish books, but I think if you read this one, you’ll change your mind. Mary Alford is a USA TODAY bestselling author and her books are full of fantastic suspense!

Here’s the back cover and blurb: From USA TODAY bestselling author Mary Alford

She’s caught in a snowstorm…

with a target on her back.

When armed men burst into her patient’s house looking for her, Amish midwife Hope Christner barely escapes with her pregnant friend. Now running through a snowy forest with enemies in pursuit and a blizzard raging, Hope has no choice but to turn to the closest neighbor, her ex-fiancé, Hunter Shetler. But facing the heartbreak of their past is just as frightening as the attackers on her trail…

From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.

My take:

Snowbound Amish Survival is a fast-paced suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat all the way through the book! Hope and Hunter are great as the hero and heroine of the story. Neither of them will give up, even when it looks like they can’t escape the men who are looking for an Englischer who returned to the West Kootenai community after the men killed her husband.

To escape the men, Hope has to drive a car, something she’s never done before. Not only that, she has to deal with her feelings for Hunter as he protects them. The two were supposed to have been married years ago, but Hope’s dad accused Hunter’s family of stealing timber from him. When Hope took her dad’s side, it destroyed their plans. And now they’re on the run from the men in the middle of a terrific blizzard.

This is a book I believe suspense readers will love. I couldn’t put the book down, and it kept me up until past midnight with me saying Just one more chapter…

I will be reading this book partly because I have spent time in the beautiful West Kootenais and would love to read a story set there. Great plot scenario. Thanks for reviewing.

That photo is stunning, Pat. Beautiful! The Scripture you chose is a perfect fit.

“The stack of cash on his desk was as close to genuine currency as squeeze cheese was to Brie.” is the first line of “Malicious Intent” by Lynn Blackburn. This is the second book in her series “Defend and Protect”.

I love that first line, Tim. And I’m glad you liked the photo and verse! By the way, I was in a zoom call with Lynn yesterday! I have the first book, and now I need to get this one.

Truly lovely photo, Pat. I looked hard for a snowflake, but didn’t see one. 😉
I read this verse twice a day, since it’s this month verse for a calendar I’m using.

This was a great review. I agree with Priscilla, a snowstorm setting is scary and isolating. You definitely piqued my interest in this book.

Lol sounds like a plan! We’re supposed to get snow from 2-5a.m. But, I don’t want the Spring flowers to be frozen. 🙂 Ms Siggs

I enjoy Amish stories and most I read are suspense. This one sounds like a good one. I have been reading the Alaska K-9 Unit series this week. This is from my next one:
K-9 officer Maya Rodriguez took in a sharp breath as she stepped out onto the quiet upper deck of the Alaska Dream cruise ship.

Maybe it was just his conscience weighing on him, but Dalton Brandt shrugged the backpack a little higher as he hiked through the San Bernardino National Forest.

I tell ya…my last name. The IT guy last night typed Giggs. I said, “oh, that’s a new one. I haven’t that one before.” Lol

I love this picture, and I hope to read Mary’s new book. I’m reading Love’s Fortress, a dual time novel by Jennifer Uhlarik.

Pretty picture! The Love Inspired books are fun for a quick read. I’m reading The Winter Rose by Melanie Dobson. “Sunlight broke through the mist like a spotlight in Hollywood, the crimson globe guiding Grace Tonquin and the twelve children in her care”.
