Romeo’s World ~ Reader Friday

Patricia Bradley Reader Friday 31 Comments

Romeo’s World (Mike Romeo Thrillers Book 11) by James Scott Bell is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: We were playing volleyball on the beach because C Dog and his ringer friend challenged me and Sophie to a game.

But first the photo and verse. Our own Priscilla Bettis took this photo of the Harvest Moon over fields of Coastal Bermuda for a truly stunning shot–thanks Priscilla! I thought the verse went very well with the photo. 🙂

Now for the cover and back copy of Romeo’s World by James Scott Bell:

Romeo's World by James Scott BellShe closed her eyes and said, “This is hell.”

“Far from it,” I said. “No torments here, just people who want to help you. I work for one of the best lawyers in the city. He can straighten out any tangle you’re in.”

“Who said anything about a tangle?”

“What I meant was—”

“Forget it,” she said. “You’re very nice people. So I need to tell you, don’t get involved with me. It’s best you don’t know anything. I don’t want to go into it any further, okay?”

Mike Romeo just wanted a quiet morning of volleyball on the sands of Paradise Cove. But when a light plane plunges into the Pacific, he fights the chop to rescue a woman from the cockpit. She will not give her identity and begs Mike to take her to a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley.
Where she disappears into the night.
When Mike tries to find her again, he runs head-on into a web of murder, money, and betrayal—with a target on his back.
Which means the killers have crossed the line into Romeo’s world.

It will not be a pleasant journey.

My Take:

The volleyball game didn’t last long before Mike Romeo was rescuing a woman from a plane that crashed into the ocean. Then she disappeared and came up dead. Mike, being who he is, couldn’t let her death go unsolved. The story takes twists and turns that kept me reading until midnight so I could find out what happened. Book 11 in the Mike Romeo series is a classic Mike Romeo, and one you don’t want to miss. You don’t have to read the others to enjoy this one, but you’ll want to go back and read them all (if you haven’t).

You can read it in KU or buy it on Amazon.

Okay, Readers what are you reading this week? Leave the title or first line in the comments, and I’ll enter you in an October drawing for…something. 🙂

Now for the song for Friday. This is one I heard Sunday afternoon and knew I wanted it for Friday’s blog. I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for reading my blog and my books!

How exciting that there is a new Mike Romeo book out! Hey, I recognize that picture, LOL! I am reading The Truth and Beauty by Andrew Klavan. It’s a nonfiction book about seeing Christ in the work of the Romantic poets. The first line: “I don’t understand the Sermon on the Mount,” I said.

I love that photo, Priscilla! The verse expresses God’s faithfulness to always give us what we need.

I’m going to have to start reading more of James’ Romeo books. I wonder if he is related to mathematician and author Eric Temple Bell? I remember a very long time ago I read a science fiction book of his.

I’ve just started reading “Watched” by Jerusha Agen; #3 of her Windy City Westons series. The first line is “‘I wished I was dead.’ Carrie Mason dabbed the damp tissue below her eye to catch another tear. ‘But you’ve made me want to keep living’.”

Great photo, Priscilla. So interesting to see a moon shot in the middle of the day. Lol

Romano’s World sounds like quite the suspense story, Pat. I like i ternational stories! Would you believe I haven’t read any of James Scott Bell’s books. . . yet?

I’m behind on my reading and still haven’t started my book from last week. Sooo no book title from me.

I just finished A Date with Santa by Debbie Macomber and thought it was one of her best Christmas stories.
Gabrielle Donaldson was surprised the unopened letter hadn’t burned a hole through her purse.

Wow! What a beautiful rendition of What a Friend We Have in Jesus! I started to open your email earlier today, but I have never had any real success responding to your blog on my phone. My laptop works much better, and it wasn’t convenient to get it. I was visiting my wife in the hospital. I believe she would have enjoyed the song. I will certainly play it for her tomorrow. After surgery to remove her gall bladder last Thursday, complications developed. She has been in the hospital since last Saturday afternoon. She’s improving now but will probably be in a rehab facility for a few weeks to regain her strength. With all that has gone on, I have only had time to read a few more pages of the book I started last week – no new one to share this week.
