Reader Friday ~ Tell Her No Lies

Patricia Bradley Reader Friday 23 Comments

This Friday I want to tell you about this fabulous book I read two months ago. I thought I’d reviewed it on my blog, but when I got to looking, I couldn’t find it. But Tell Her No Lies by Kelly Irvin is a book you don’t want to miss!

Here’s the back cover copy:

Combining romance and suspense, bestselling author Kelly Irvin’s Tell Her No Lies is a high-stakes race for the truth.

“A moving and compelling tale about the power of grace and forgiveness that reminds us how we become strongest in our most broken moments.”—Library Journal review of Upon a Spring Breeze

Even the most admired families have secrets to hide . . .

Nina Fischer carries a camera wherever she goes—so she can view life through a filter. Safely. After her mother abandoned her to the streets, Nina has kept people at a distance, including her uncle, who adopted Nina and her sister. Wealthy and proud, he is a good man, a fair judge, and someone many in San Antonio admire.

But when he is murdered, and the detective assigned to the case accuses Nina of the crime, she knows she must act. She’s determined to use her journalism background to find the real killer. The two men in her life want to help, but can she trust them?  She’s known Rick since they were children, but now he’s an attorney whose political aspirations seem more important than Nina’s tragic loss. And then there’s Aaron, a news videographer; using their friendship could break the biggest story of his career.

Following the evidence leads Nina on a journey of discovery into her father’s shocking masquerade as a law-abiding, family-loving Christian. Unlocking these secrets could prove fatal, but it’s the only way Nina will ever be able to trust love again.

Combining romance and suspense, bestselling author Kelly Irvin’s Tell Her No Lies is a high-stakes race for the truth.

My take:

All I can say is, WOW! I started this book during my five-hour layover when I flew home from the Writer’s Police Academy’s Murder Con, and I almost didn’t want to get off the plane because I only had a few pages left to read. 🙂 Even though I didn’t get home until one a.m., I took the time to finish the book because I had to know how it ended. Every time I thought I had it figured out, there was another twist. Kelly Irvin is a master storyteller.

I’ve read Kelly Irvin’s Amish books, but this was her first romantic suspense that I’d read but it won’t be her last. I see that a second book released in June, Over the Line, and that one has gone to the top of my TBR table.

Pat, thank you for introducing me to so many good authors! Looks like I’ll be adding Kelly Irvin to my list. Keep those recommendations coming!
I’m currently reading “Dead End” by Susan Sleeman. She is one of my favorite authors, and this book is terrific.

Pat, I just finished “Tell Her No Lies”, and I echo your “WOW!”. This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. The plot had all the twists of a tornado, and the characters were just fantastic. I even liked the bulldog police detective (took awhile, though). Thanks for the tip. I’m about to start “Over the Line” as soon as I finish Rachel Dylan’s “Fatal Accusation”.

I have not read Kelly Irvin’s books yet….Amish or her newest suspense ones. I know I must remedy that very soon as I’ve had other reader friends rave about her writing! I’m glad I have access to my sister-in-laws Overdrive digital libray account becuase I can borrow from there. I am sorry you stayed up so late reading it, but that just tells me it’s one to stay up finishing till the very last page!

Congrats Debra on the win by the way! Happy reading 🙂
