Reader Friday – House on Foster Hill

If you follow my blog, then you know Justice Buried has been nominated as an American Christian Fiction Writers’ Carol Finalist in the romantic suspense category. Yay! It’s one of three titles to make it to the finals. Jaime Jo Wright’s House on Foster Hill and Susan Sleeman’s Fatal Mistake are the other two.

I thought I’d see just what Justice Buried is up against…Oh, my! Both books are real page-turners! This week I’m going to review Jaime Jo Wright’s House on Foster Hill. Here’s the back cover copy:

Kaine Prescott is no stranger to death. When her husband died two years ago, her pleas for further investigation into his suspicious death fell on deaf ears. In desperate need of a fresh start, Kaine purchases an old house sight unseen in her grandfather’s Wisconsin hometown. But one look at the eerie, abandoned house immediately leaves her questioning her rash decision. And when the house’s dark history comes back with a vengeance, Kaine is forced to face the terrifying realization she has nowhere left to hide.

A century earlier, the house on Foster Hill holds nothing but painful memories for Ivy Thorpe. When an unidentified woman is found dead on the property, Ivy is compelled to discover her identity. Ivy’s search leads her into dangerous waters and, even as she works together with a man from her past, can she unravel the mystery before any other lives–including her own–are lost?

My take:

This time-slip novel really held my attention. It was hard to believe it was Jaime’s debut novel! The plot was so tightly woven and with twists I never saw coming. I was drawn to Kaine Prescott right away and to Ivy Thorpe – Jaime has a knack for writing characters the reader cares about. She wove the historical part in seamlessly, and the spooky old house added to the suspense.

The House on Foster Hill is a book I believe mystery/suspense readers will love ~ What an honor to be included as a finalist with this fine book!

You can purchase House on Foster Hill on Amazon for $1.99 right now!

Come back next week for a review of Susan Sleeman’s book, Fatal Mistake.

The winner of July’s drawing is Priscilla Bettis!

I have read The House on Foster Hill and devoured it! Gossamer Pond was great, too! I still have to read Susan’s book, although I have a few of hers.
Can’t wait to start yours, Pat!

Congratulations! I’ll need to check on these books. I recently finished the second of your Justice books. Recently I’ve been ordering too many ebooks and real books and getting a bit behind in my reading.

Oh, Christine! How well I know how you feel…I keep ordering and not reading those because I’m reading the ones I bought last month! 😉 The 2nd Justice book is the one that is up for a Carol. Thanks for stopping by.

So many books and so little time, Mindy! I have made myself stop buying every book I want…it’d take two years at least to read the ones already in my library and on my Kindle! Thanks for stopping by.

I read Jaime’s book right after it was released and enjoyed it. I have not read Susan’s yet. I look forward to your review of hers. Justice Buried is a tough one to beat.

This sounds great – suspense, contemporary, and historical all rolled in one! Thanks for the recommendation! I’m getting caught up on some reading in Northern Minnesota, so I like $1.99 ebooks!

Thanks for your thoughts, I always love your precise reviews 🙂 Must be the benefit of being an author!
