Reader Friday ~ Emergency Case

Happy Day After Thanksgiving and of course that means it’s Black Friday! I have a Black Friday deal for you! Richard Mabry’s novella, Emergency Case, is up for preorder on Amazon for .99! When it releases Tuesday, it will go up. 🙂 So grab it now. Here’s the back cover copy:

Dr. Kelly Irving knew her husband, attorney Jack Harbaugh, was acting strangely but figured they’d get through it. When she backed out of her garage that morning, she thought her car hit a bump. Instead, its progress was stopped by the body of a man her husband recently represented. Not only that, the dead man had been shot by her husband’s gun. The police who investigated made it clear that Jack was a primary suspect.

Kelly couldn’t decide if Jack was a murderer or marked as the next victim. As things continued to escalate, they were forced to put their marital differences aside and concentrate on keeping Jack alive while discovering who was behind the whole thing.

Here’s my review:

The first few pages of Emergency Case by Richard Mabry drew me in right away when a slam-dunk case turns into a prescription for murder. I identified with attorney Jack Harbaugh’s dilemma when the client reveals a crime that is about to take place before he can stop him. Jack should report it to the police, but he’s not certain he believes his client until he ends up dead in his drive.

Emergency Case kept me turning pages as the suspense mounted. Dr. Mabry does a great job of putting his characters in jeopardy. I also enjoyed the interaction between Jack and his wife, Kelly. A great read!

I have an ARC copy of Emergency Case and will give it away to one lucky commenter. Just leave a comment telling what’s your favorite thing to do on Thanksgiving. (It may be after I return from Israel).

I love time with family, though it’s not all my family. My husband and mother in law do 90% of the cooking. I was dishes .

My favorite thing to do at Thanksgiving is to invite people to our home who don’t have family in town or don’t have a place to celebrate the holiday.

My favorite thing for this Thanksgiving was our son held hands with us and actually thanked God for his new job. To my knowledge he hasn’t prayed in years. I am thankful for God’s mercies and His answer to prayer

That’s great, Paula. My grandson and his family didn’t make it to my house, but everyone else did. Then everyone but me headed to Little Rock to see him for a few days. I wish I could have gone, but with a deadline and trip to Israel it was impossible.

That is fun, Tammy. This year was the first time in 8 years that my oldest daughter made it to my house. We’ve seen each other, but I always go to Florida to see her and my younger daughter and her family.

One of my favorite things to do during Thanksgiving is catch up on all the rest and family time I miss during the school year as a 2nd Grade teacher.
