As this posts, I’m driving back from my research trip in Natchez. Photos to follow! My plans were thwarted once again by Mother Nature and that disturbance in the Gulf. Maybe next week…

I discovered Carolina Dream last year when I met the author, Regina Rudd Merrick, at a writer’s retreat. I won her book in a drawing, but I didn’t get a chance to read it until about a week ago. What a treat I’ve missed for a year! I loved this book and isn’t that cover beautiful!

Here’s the back cover copy:

Sarah Crawford wants more from life than to attend the wedding of her ex-fiancée. An unexpected inheritance in South Carolina comes at the perfect time, just as Sarah is willing to use any excuse to get out of town.

When she meets potential business partner Jared Benton and discovers that a house is part of the inheritance, she is sure that God has been preparing her for this time through a recurring dream. But will a dream about an antebellum mansion, many rooms to be explored, and a man with dark brown eyes give her the confidence to take a leap of faith, leaving friends, family, and her job behind?

My take:

Have you ever been at a point in your life where you wondered, “Is this all there is?” Not that everything is necessarily all bad, but you feel something is missing. That’s where Sarah Crawford finds herself when the story opens. She’s at loose ends. Her fiancé dumped her and is about to be married, it’s time to renew her contract with the school where she teaches, and she wants more out of life. That’s when the Crawford family learns they’ve been named in the will of a relative they’d never met, and Sarah is designated to check out what sounds too good to be true.

Jared Benton has worked hard under his mentor and business partner, Alex Crawford, and now he has to share the real estate business he’s poured his life into. Prepared to not like the new partners, he finds himself drawn to the petite Sarah.

What follows is a sweet romance and a story of seeking God’s will for your life. Merrick has done a great job with all of the characters, but I was really drawn to Sarah and Jared. I can’t wait until the next book in the series is released, which I understand will be soon.

You can purchase Carolina Dream at Amazon & B&N.

I think Diane Turpin, the book cover designer, did a great job, Edward. It is a very interesting book. Her next one is in revision and should be out soon. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Thank you so much, Patricia! You are such an inspiration to me, and I’ve so enjoyed the time we’ve been able to spend together talking all things books (and bathroom remodels!)! LOL! I hope you found Natchez as captivating as we did!

Well…Regina, when I wrote that opening, I had plans to go to Natchez, then there was ANOTHER disturbance in the Gulf with rain and thunderstorms forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, so I postponed my trip once again and forgot to change my blog post. lol And thanks for dropping in. I really enjoy out time together.

Looks like Carolina Mercy will be out on July 10th, so you won’t have too much longer Patricia! I’m definitely adding both of these to my want-to-read list. I love when I find good book recommendations from fellow reader friends!

Regina is a new-to-me author, so this will a real treat to read 🙂

I’m sorry that your trip to Natchez was thwarted again! What a bummer, hope you can go real soon though.
