Patient 7 ~ Reader Friday

Patricia Bradley Reader Friday 1 Comment

Patient 7 by Sabrina Wade is this week’s Mystery Question. Here’s the first paragraph: I shouldn’t be doing this. That’s what I tell myself as I turn off the main road and slip beneath Mercy Bridge. I kill the headlights the moment the concrete surrounds me.

But first the photo and verse. I was outside late one afternoon when I looked toward the woods and saw these visitors. I didn’t have my phone, so I quickly borrowed one and snapped this photo. Two seconds later, they bounded away. The bucks are still in velvet, meaning they haven’t shed the covering on their antlers. I love that verse and thought it fit the verse.

Now for Patient 7 by Sabrina Wade. Here’s the cover and back copy:

A psychiatric patient who predicts murders… down to the details.

Patient 7 by Sabrina WadeDr. Rachel Hadley has barely absorbed the shock of her ex-husband, psychiatrist Dr. Colton Hadley, vanishing when County Detective Lane Archer uncovers something Colton left behind: a set of taped interviews no one was supposed to find.

On the tapes, Patient 7, a man Colton was never supposed to treat, calmly predicts four murders before they happen, including the victims, locations, and timing.

Even more chilling, Patient 7 has had no contact with the outside world in over six months.

As Rachel and Detective Archer race to uncover who Patient 7 really is, the first predicted murder comes true.

Then the next, and the next.

Now, with each clue dragging them deeper into a deadly pattern, Detective Archer must identify the next victim before the killer strikes again, while Rachel begins to fear that Colton’s disappearance was never the beginning of this nightmare.

It was part of the plan.

Because if Patient 7 knows how this ends, the final murder may not just explain why Colton vanished.

It may be the one no one sees coming.

My Take:

BN100 left a comment that she was reading Patient 7 a couple of weeks ago on the Friday blog, and the title intrigued me, so I hopped over to Amazon to see what it was about. The back copy drew me in, then I read the first chapter, and I quickly downloaded it from KU. Patient 7 by Sabrina Wade is a fantastic psychological thriller. I could not put the book down.

I was quickly drawn to psychiatrist Dr. Rachel Hadley and Detective Archer Lane, both burned by love and married to their jobs. The twists and turns of the story kept me flipping pages to see what was happening next…and the ending will blow you away. Each character is so well written. This was my first book by Sabrina Wade, and it won’t be my last.

Okay Readers, what are you reading this week? Leave the title or first line in the comments, and I’ll enter you in an August drawing for … something, not sure what, but I’ll come up with something. lol

Here’s Friday’s song. I hope you enjoy!

The verse and the picture are a perfect fit! Patient 7 sounds intriguing! I am reading The Woods Next Door by Susan Specht Oram.
