Fatal Finale (The Erin Delaney Mysteries Book #3) by Nancy Mehl is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: Kaley’s eyes opened, and she tried to focus on her surroundings.
But first the photo and verse. Yes, clouds again. 🙂 I saw the volcano-shaped cloud last week as I walked to the mailbox and knew I had to have it. Luckily, I had my phone with me, and I quickly snapped it. Barbara, what do you see this week? I love that verse and thought it went well with the cloud.
Now on to Fatal Finale (The Erin Delaney Mysteries Book #3) by Nancy Mehl. Here’s the cover and back copy:

But Erin works for the Sanctuary Police Department, and Kaely’s husband is with the FBI, putting her in an impossible situation. As Erin races against time, she’s forced to crack the kidnapper’s chilling puzzle before it’s too late.
My take:
Oh wow. Fatal Finale drew me in from the first paragraph and kept me listening all the way to “The End”. This is the third book in the series, but it is a standalone, meaning you don’t have to read the first two to know what’s going on. But trust me, you’ll want to.
Kaley Quinn has been one of my favorite characters from Nancy Mehl’s books, as well as Erin Delaney, and Fatal Finale has both! I listened to it and enjoyed the narrator’s voice in this twisty suspense. It’s always refreshing to see female characters portrayed as intelligent and brave.
It’s hard to write about the story without giving spoilers, so I’ll just say that suspense/mystery readers will love it. The plot is excellent, and the twists and turns keep coming. You’ll find it hard to put the book down for any reason.

Thanks, Priscilla! It was a most unusual cloud. I think you’d enjoy Nancy’s book. And Anne Graham Lotz’s book sounds like something I would like. As a side note, I have a friend, (let’s say E) who had a rather strong personality, and one of her friends (let’s say A) was going to introduce her to some of her friends…A told E that her friends were a little intimidated by her, and even a little afraid. E looked at A and said, “Since I’ve never met them, their opinion of me had to come from you.”
Ha, what a witty comment from E! Wish I could think fast on my feet like that!

This might be the first time that the book I’m now reading is the one Pat chose to feature on Reader Friday. And I agree 100%, it is one hot page turner. Nancy certainly can invent the most interesting characters. I think I’ve read most of her books, including the earlier ones in this series. All have been really good. I also love it when authors include characters from earlier writings. It makes them seem to have a life beyond just a few books.

Well, my first reaction to the clouds was “whoa.” That is one neat volcano cloud. I definitely saw the head of a snowman, and maybe a snowman jr., too. Then there was a frog’s face looking at us, an alligator, shark fins, islands and lots of partial hearts. However, the volcano places #1
Love Nancy’s books. This one sounds especially intriguing. Good review, Pat. You are correct, Nancy always has a lot of twists and turns.

I am on my library’s wait list for Fatal Finale. I have read the first two books in this series and the Kaley Quinn series and liked all of them. Nancy Mehl is a great author.

I have been watching for Nancy Mehl’s latest book at the public library. They don’t have it yet, but I’ll keep looking. Interesting side note. I have posted well over a thousand book reviews on Amazon. A few times, I have had to make a slight revision before Amazon would accept a review. My worst experience with them was a Nancy Mehl book. Their email said revise and resubmit. When I attempted to resubmit it, they had blocked my account for that one book. I never got that review posted.
I am reading Canyon of Deceit by DiAnn Mills. I believe someone else has already shared the first line, but I’ll share it again.

Audio book by Natalie Walters Living Lies. Loving this book. Natalie does a wonderful job of suspense and wondering why Lane wants to give up so easily. A tough topic but she covers it very well.
