Elizabeth Goddard's Critical Alliance; Job 37:16

Elizabeth Goddard’s Critical Alliance is this week’s Reader Friday! This book kept me up past midnight two nights in a row, finishing it! Here’s the first line: “Her world was spinning out of control. Correction. Not her world–her body.”

But first, the photo and verse. The photo was taken from my drive one afternoon when I saw these beautiful clouds. I knew I had to snap a picture of them. Of course, the battery on the Canon was down, so I used my cell phone camera and it turned out pretty good. And I love that verse from Job.

Now onto Elizabeth Goddard’s Critical Alliance: Here’s the back copy and cover:

Mackenzie Hanson’s special set of skills opened the door to a successful career as a professor of cybersecurity at a Michigan university, allowing her to put her criminal past behind her. But when a long-ago partner in crime delivers a cryptic message about her father’s tech company being under cyberattack, she heads for Montana to secure exposed assets, close security breaches, and hopefully save lives.

Diplomatic Security Services special agent Alex Knight is back home in Montana to decompress from a mission gone wrong. But even as he’s trying to relax, he’s drawn into another mystery, complete with suspicious deaths, lethal threats, and whispers of espionage that all have one thing in common–a beautiful cybersecurity expert with a dark past.

When the situation turns deadly, Alex and Mackenzie will have to work together to find the answers they need–before someone silences Mackenzie for good.

USA Today bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard weaves a tangled web of nail-biting suspense and heart-stopping romance in this fast-paced conclusion to her Rocky Mountain Courage series.

My Take:

Wow! This book grabbed me with the first chapter and didn’t let go until the end! I really like Mackenzie and Alex. Goddard did a great job with these two characters. Mackenzie is smart, especially when it comes to cyber attacks, and all the way computers can be hacked. It was scary just thinking about some of these things happening. One of the things I really liked about the story is the way Alex treated Mackenzie as an equal. And the romance was good too. Not too much, but enough to have you rooting for them to get together.

In addition to protecting Mackenzie, Alex wants to find out who is vandalizing the monument that was erected in honor of his dad and two others who gave their lives to rescue the survivors of a plane crash. I love that characters from the first two books show up in this story. And the setting–Goddard made me want to move to Montana!

This conclusion to the three-book series is full of twists and turns and surprises. You can find buy links here.

Great photo of those clouds, Pat. The Scripture you chose to accompany it was perfect. Those clouds looked poised, reflecting God’s perfect knowledge. I’ve also flown through similar clouds, and the view reminded me of God’s great power.

    Love your trailer for “Deception”.

“Critical Alliance” is high on my queue, and will be read in the next week or two. I love Elizabeth’s books. And I’m with you on Montana (except for the cold winters). I just finished “Wild Montana Skies” by Susan May Warren, and it takes place in and around Glacier National Park. I have so many good memories of that park from decades ago.

“A MAN’S ALTER EGO is nothing more than his favorite image of himself.” is the first line from “Catch Me If You Can” by Frank Abagnale, Jr. It is the autobiographical book from which the Spielberg movie was based.

Thank you, Tim. I’m so happy with the praise from everyone on the book trailer. 🙂 Makes staying up ’til midnight worth it. lol The book you’re reading sounds so interesting.

Tim, I read that book a few years ago. I also remember him speaking at a bank operations conference I attended in the early 2000s. Enjoyed the book and hearing him talk about his esacapades.

Of course I immediately saw pictures in those clouds. Today, there is a fire-breathing dragon in the lower left! Lol Such a wonderful clear shot of the clouds, I love this! The Scripture is perfect…and in Job. I was surprised.

I was excited to read your review of Elizabeth’s Critical Alliance as my ordered copy should arrive any day. Since it appears to be a midnight page turner, I’ll need to remember to start it early in the day.

Oooh, The Deception trailer was a good one. Cannot wait to read it!

Today, I hope to start On Distant Shores by Sarah Sundin. “If only the plan would keep flying over the Atlantic and straight back to Virginia where Georgie belonged.”

Thank you, Barbara! I did manage to not have crazy videos showing up after the video ended and that took ’til midnight. lol. But I pulled the video from Vimeo instead of Youtube. 🙂 And do start Critical Alliance early!!

And I wondered what you would see in the clouds and you did not disappoint!

The midnight perseverance paid off, because the trailer is amazing with a clean cut at the end! Yay you! So, what was the first pic YOU saw in the clouds?

Great photo and scripture for it. Critical Alliance is a great read. I enjoyed it.

I just finished this and it is so good. A visit back to Rock Harbor and visits by old characters, like Bree. Another one to keep you up late.

Pat, I love the clouds. My wife and I were in western North Carolina last Friday viewing some waterfalls as we made our way home. We saw some of the most beautiful clouds we’ve ever seen. Often that day, we would see white clouds in one direction, gray in another, and dark clouds elsewhere. At times, we could also see patches of white clouds. We enjoyed it so much. The scripture goes well with the picture.

I read the first book in Elizabeth’s series and enjoyed it so much. I look forward to this one. I’m reading Robin Patchen’s latest book being released in about two weeks. The title is Lineage of Corruption.

Beautiful picture. The verse fits it so well. Elizabeth’s book sounds really good. I’m reading Twin murder mix-up by Sami A. Abrams. Cool air blasted from the car vents. I’m really enjoying it so far. Looking forward to reading Deception! The first three books were so good.

I have some serious catching up to do with Elizabeeth Goddard’s books! I love her writing.

I just finished “The Extraordinary Death’s of Mrs. Kip” by Sara Brunsvold….oh my word this book is beyond amazing! I’d have to say it’s my top book of the year….which is a rare thing for me to say. It just stands out above the rest. A tale of sacrificial love beyond boarders & a friendship forged in the ashes of life. I think you’d enjoy this one Patricia. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who loves deeply emotional, life-changing Christian fiction novels.
    First few lines:
“Clara Kip had prayed repeatedly to die in Sao Paulo. It truly seemed the smallest of requests. People die in Brazil every day. What’s one more? Especially one who had dreamed of the country most of her life.
The Lord, however, gave her Kansas. “
