Detection (Benson First Responders Book 4) by Lisa Phillips is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: Thirty minutes after they left the conference center full of PD officers from around the country, Mitchell Gaines spotted the change in his dog.
But first, the photo and verse. I took this after walking 330 yards up to the observation deck. It was a little hazy, but the view was spectacular! I took several photos that I’ll probably share in the coming weeks. The verse is one I like that pairs well with the one in Psalm 37– “Wait patiently for the Lord to act..”
I cannot understand how anyone can look at the beautiful world and think it all happened by chance.

When the attacks keep coming, these two will have to fight together for the future God has for them. Or see it all swept away.
My Take:
This is a great romantic suspense story with twists and turns that will keep you flipping pages long after bedtime. Both Tessa and River are great characters–willing to face danger to help someone else. This is a non-stop, action-packed novel with suspense, dogs, danger, romance, and intrigue.
The plot is intriguing, and I love the character arc for both characters. This is a story that readers of Lynnette Eason will enjoy! You can get it on Amazon!

“She just had to get through the airport. Fifty yards and then she was free.” (WEST by Susan May Warren). This is the final book in The Hunt for Alan Martin series. It is an explosive, emotional ending – an awesome live story. I was really wrapped up in the story, to the point of tears rolling down my cheeks. I really, really recommend this book and the entire series.

Beautiful picture, and I love the verse. Detection sounds like an exciting story! I am reading The Auschwitz Escape by Joel C. Rosenberg. It’s a book about Jewish people in WWII (obviously) and a Christian pastor who tried to help them. It’s a difficult read emotionally, but it’s SO good! The first line: “Evil, unchecked, is the prelude to genocide.” It was a phrase Jean-Luc Leclerc had once read in an old book.

Joel C. Rosenberg is a fantastic writer, Priscilla! I find it very difficult to read WWII stories…But I did read Exodus by Hermon Wouk when I was in the 10th grade–stayed up all night to finish it.
It sounds like a really interesting book.

Pat, your photos make me imagine I’m right there looking at that beautiful scenery. No way is chance involved. All we see in nature is intelligently designed and created by the God of the Bible.
I enjoy Lisa’s books, but haven’t read any in this series. With the town named Benson and reference to AZ, my first thought was the Benson that is about 45 miles SE of Tucson. But, it appears this Benson is in the Pacific NW.
The first line of “Hunting an Arsonist” by Jessica Patch is: “He was dead. And she’d never hear his voice again.” This is the 6th book in the Colorado K-9 Unit series and takes place near Denver, CO. Like most of Jessica’s books, this one grabs you and doesn’t let go.

Thank you about the photos. I love taking them, but of course they don’t do the view justice. It’s so awe inspiring to stand and look at the beauty around you when you’re on a mountaintop, Tim. I haven’t read this one of Jessica’s, but it’s on my TBR list. I wish you could meet her…she is such a sweetheart.

And the clouds, oh my! 🙂 There are some real treasures in this photo: it’s full of hearts, a diamond ring, a sheep, a white horse, the Hebrew letter chai, side view of an older man making a muscle, a pulled tooth, a hippo head, the feet of a big, shaggy dog, one cloud has two choices—a woman’s face or the face of a Scottish terrier.
The Scripture fits beautifully, too.
Love Lisa Phillips’ books. They are page-turners for sure.

This is a novel following the destruction of a serial killer playing a deadly game. I jokingly think it takes a really “sick” mind to come up with some of this stuff!” WOW, but it really keeps me turning the pages. Darlene Turner is a very talented writer!

I don’t ever remember hearing the Merle Haggard song. I used to enjoy hearing him on the radio, especially Okie from Muscogee.
I am getting ready to do a first read on Susan Sleeman’s book to be released next month, Lost Girls. I just finished Lynette Eason’s Twilight Tactics. I’m planning to start Jody Hedlund’s With You Always from her Orphan Train series. I just realized it’s been out over nine years but I somehow missed that series.
I hope to read Detection by Lisa Phillips. It sounds like a good one.
