D-Valued ~ Reader Friday

Patricia Bradley Reader Friday 2 Comments

D-Valued by Marji Laine is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first paragraph: Tasha Sanderson merged onto the loop around the small city of High Grove, Texas. It had taken much longer to pack up her apartment than she’d expected. And lugging this huge moving trailer had been slow and tricky, even in her sweet Toyota Rav 4.

But first the photo and verse. My son-in-law once again captured a great photo, this one of the launch Monday morning. I’m going to try and get photos of the next launch…not sure when it is. The verse seems to fit very well. 🙂

Now for D-Valued by Marji Laine. Here’s the cover and back copy:

D-Valued by Marji LaineSomeone is lying. Possibly everyone.

Tasha Sanderson came to her aunt’s Texas farmhouse to disappear for a while — from the law firm that burned her, from the man she can’t stop thinking about, from the version of herself she’s not sure she likes anymore.

She didn’t come to investigate a missing fiancé. Or a murder. Or the peculiar connection between a global tech scheme and a grieving man with nothing left to lose. But when a frightened woman at a roadside accident presses Tasha’s hand and whispers find him — something clicks into place that Tasha can’t ignore.

D-Street Investigations calls her a trainee. The police call her a nuisance. The killer hasn’t called her anything yet.

But they’ve noticed her.

D-Valued is a Christian romantic mystery set in the small city of High Grove, Texas — where secrets run deep, connections run deeper, and one woman’s instincts might be the only thing standing between the truth and another body.

My Take:

I loved this twisty story. Tasha Sanderson is a great heroine–gutsy, quirky, directionally challenged, and able to read people like nobody’s business. This is the first book in what I hope is a long series. That way there will be room to see which man she eventually picks. D-Street’s Nathan Travis, attorney Lawson Holt, the detective Scotty, and the man who saved her life, Zach.

Just about the time I thought I had it figured out, another twist would come, and I’d have to re-figure who the bad guys were. Marji Laine is a master at creating great characters and a fantastic storyline. Readers who like a character who will have lasting appeal and a good mystery will enjoy this book.

Leave a comment with the title or first line of the book you’re reading, and I’ll enter you in an October drawing for …something.

I’ll be driving today so it may be tomorrow before I answer comments. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Now for today’s song. I heard this song one Easter and I loved it. Today it came to mind, and I thought I’d share it.

Thanks for reading my blog and my books!
