D.L. Wood's The Vow; Ecc. 12:13

D.L. Wood’s The Vow is this week’s Reader Friday. It may look familiar to you since I reviewed it way back in July in view of endorsing it, which I did because I loved it! It has now available to download, and I wanted to refresh your memory of it in case you haven’t had a change to get it!

Here’s the first paragraph: Kate Palmer stopped on the sidewalk, turned around, and listened. For the second time as she walked up her street, she thought she sensed something. Like…someone watching her. A feeling she knew altogether too well.

Now for the photo and Scripture verse. I saw this verse on Facebook earlier today and loved it. It was written by King Solomon. For someone who had started out so well, he certainly strayed away from God, and I like to think he wrote it near the end of his life and had seen the truth in it.

Now for D.L. Wood’s The Vow.

DL Wood's The Vow

Some decisions are deadly.

Kate’s husband Erik left her a year ago, ending their marriage without warning for a trust-fund twenty-something and her luxurious global-hopping lifestyle. Now Kate is spending one last Christmas at her family’s Smoky Mountains cabin before selling it to raise cash. But when nostalgia moves her to keep the place, things quickly turn sinister, suggesting all is not what it seems. Someone is watching her…stalking her…leaving disturbing messages, convincing Kate that something truly dark is going on. As the frightening episodes ramp up, and Kate realizes something truly dark is happening, will she be able to uncover what’s really going on before it’s too late?

My Take:

I really enjoyed this novella. It grabbed me from the first few pages when Kate found the letter from her husband stating he was leaving her. The tension didn’t let up when, a year later, she returned to the cabin they loved to get it ready for sale, and strange things began to happen. Like finding someone had been sleeping in the attic. And items had been rearranged in the cabin and some even stolen. And someone was watching her. She could feel it.

The heroine, Kate, pulled at my heartstrings as she tried to get over her husband, but it was hard with Facebook posts showing him happily married, flying all over the world with his new wife. At least Kate had her friend from childhood, Georgia and Rex, her brother.

This story was full of twists and turns I didn’t expect. It was a great read, one I think readers of romantic suspense will love. If you’ve read it, leave a comment and let me know what you think! If you haven’t, I think it’s a book you will love!

Oh, and if you leave a comment I’ll enter you in a March drawing for Elizabeth Goddard’s Cold Light of Day!

The winner of the February drawing for Malicious Intent by Lynn Blackburn is… D. J. Smith! Congrats!

D. L. Wood's The Vow is featured on my Reader Friday blog! A great buy at $2.99! Leave a comment and I'll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library. Click To Tweet

Sounds like a good read! (But I won’t start it right before bedtime!) I enjoy stories with cabins! My parents had a “primitive” cabin in northern MN that I spent most weekends at from infancy to adult years! ❤

Beautiful photo, and full of promise. That Scripture can be scary without the promise of the Gospel as well. Then we know we’re covered.

“Fifteen months ago, Adam had promised to let her go. If that was even his real name.” Is the first line from “A Cry in the Dark” by Jessica Patch. From what I’ve read so far (Prologue and Chapter 1), dark might be a continuing theme for this book. FBI special agent, Violet Rainwater investigates a chilling discovery as a member of the Strange Crimes Unit.

I liked her first book in this series, “Her Darkest Secret”, and this one is shaping up to be a pretty intense read.

Speaking of Steven James, I see he has a new book out in April called “Broker of Lies”. I’ve already got it on preorder.

Beautiful photo. God is an amazing artist! I agree with Tim on the Scripture.

I think you shared the book I’m reading now. From Dark of Night by Colleen Coble:
Should she even be out here alone? Michigan’s U.P. was a whole lotta wilderness. Michelle Fraser’ shoulder blades gave a tingle and made her glance back to see if anyone was following her.

Oh my! That is some sunset! That Scripture kind of says it all “… here is the conclusion of the matter” Pretty clear what we are to do.

I read The Vow this past Wednesday, since I won it on Tuesday! It was excellent and I read it straight through. So glad I read it in the daytime and not late at night. Lol

Getting ready to start The Wedding Shop, by Rachel Hauck. The first line is, “The scent of rain laced the afternoon breeze as it shoved through summer-green trees, ramming ominous black clouds together like a craggy mountain ridge.” I like her books and since I dreamed of murders all night, (I wonder why 😉 I needed a change of pace today.

This book sounds like one I would enjoy reading. I just finished:

The Blakeslee ballroom glittered as couples swirled around the dance floor.
To Enchant a Lady’s Heart by Robin Lee Hatcher
