Christmas Tree Wars by Delores Topliff is an uplifting, sweet book that I needed. I really enjoyed meeting the characters in this Swede vs Norwegian take on Romeo and Juliet. The story, set in the mid-1960s is a historical. Can you believe that’s considered a historical time today?

But first the photo and scripture. Delores Topliff, the author of Christmas Tree Wars, almost missed this gorgeous site when she had her back to the window. However, she turned around just in time to capture it before the sun came over the horizon. And I love the verse with it.

Now onto the Christmas Tree Wars:

First line: “Kris Lundquist jingled the change in his pocket and looked through his 15th story window over Rockerfellow Center.”

Don’t you just love the cover? Here’s the back cover copy:

Christmas is meant to be a time of goodwill, but there’s no peace between two neighboring Christmas tree farmers involved in a longstanding feud. Can this year be different with a bit of holiday romance tossed into the season?

When the financial planner son and forestry major niece of feuding Christmas tree farmers come home to help their families in crisis, it takes Christmas tree wars to a whole new level. As the young people seek success by competing to provide a national Christmas tree, romance fills the air and connects them like mistle to toe.

My take:

I can truly see this as a Hallmark Movie! It has the perfect ingredients: Kris Lundquist and Marcie Halvorsen return home to Balsam, Wisconsin to help their families out in a time of need. Kris to help his dad get out from under bad financial decisions and Marcie to find a solution to the blight that has hit the Halversen’s Norway spruce.

The two young people are totally attracted to one another, BUT Halverson’s feud with Kris’s dad is in the way. Then her uncle has a stroke and she fears making him worse so she backs away from Kris.

I love the quirky characters and the way the people of Balsam come together to help out the Halverson’s. Love the twist at the end! This is a feel-good story perfect for the Christmas season.

Thank you, Pat, for welcoming Christmas tree wars today. I do want it to be uplifting and sweet and had so much fun writing this story that the Lord inspired me with in one special download As I drove down a country road with Christmas trees growing on one side and a hayfield with one lone Christmas tree growing on the other side and the whole story came to me then 🙂 It was actually a sunrise that I photographed that morning. And him being very dark and I was working with my back to the window when suddenly a Goldenglow on my computer screen made me turn around and see the start of that beautiful day. Wishing you and readers and equally wonderful day.

    Hi Pat and Delores!
This book looks like so much fun. It reminds me of the eleven years we spent 75 miles north of Green Bay among the Christmas Tree farms and trees for the paper mills!
The picture is beautiful and shows God’s glory!
Can’t wait to read the book!

Delores, I love that photo and matching verse. Isn’t it great when a photo opportunity sneaks up on you, and grabs you?

If the 60s are historical, then that must describe me! Those were my high school and college days, and they were a great time to be aiming for adulthood. Pat, from your description, I agree this would make a great Hallmark movie. I can also relate to the Scandinavian vibe. My paternal grandparents were first generation Swedes. My grandfather changed the name from Johansson to Johnson. This is a book I will read. Will there be a Nook version?

“Just the sight of this man curled Malone’s stomach and sent a bead of sweat down her back.” This first line from “Night Prey” by Susan Sleeman is what I am about to start. Susan’s books are always top notch, and this Nighthawk Security series has been so much fun.

I’m gathering books for my Christmas TBR pile and grabbing a copy of this since it’s on Kindle Unlimited! I’m not quite ready to actually read Christmas stories yet, but this will be available whenever I am 🙂 I like that it’s a short story because with the busy holiday season coming up, I don’t have a lot of time to read…so short length or novellas are perfect!

Totally understand, Edward! I have about five books that need to be read by this time next week, but lately, if I get one thing accomplished a day, I feel I’m doing pretty good. 🙂
