Buried Cold Case Secrets–Reader Friday

Patricia Bradley Reader Friday 30 Comments

Buried cold case secrets; Ps 113:3Buried Cold Case Secrets by Sami A. Abrams is this week’s Reader Friday. First line: Melanie Hutton’s feet struck the dirt trail in a comfortable rhythm.”

But first the photo and scripture. It’s 20° in North Mississippi this morning with a wind chill temp of 10° so I thought I’d feature another of Cheryl Meints’ photos from sunny Florida. This was taken at Trimble Park in Orange County, Florida. Won’t deny wishing I was there with her…The verse is another of my favorites. When we’re praising God, we can’t focus on our trials and tribulations.
Now for Sami A. Abrams’ book Buried Cold Case Secrets.
Buried Cold Case SecretsRecovering her missing memories

could be the key to solving a murder

Searching for her best friend’s remains could help forensic anthropologist Melanie Hutton regain her memories of when they were both kidnapped—unless the killer gets to Melanie first. For her safety, Melanie must rely on Detective Jason Cooper, who still blames her for his sister’s death. Can Jason set the past aside to solve the cold-case murder…and shield Melanie from the same fate?

From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.

My Take:

Buried Cold Case Secrets grabbed me from the get-go. Sami A. Abrams does a great job of creating interesting characters for the reader and Melanie Hutton is truly interesting. After being kidnapped as a teenager and escaping, she struggles with survivor’s guilt along with not being able to remember what happened that night. She can’t imagine why she left her friend Allison and can only remember her friend begging her to go for help.

Jason Cooper was Allison’s brother and Melanie had a crush on him since she was a teenager. But he can’t forgive her for leaving his sister behind to save herself and neither can Melanie. But is that what really happened?

I’m not going to give anything away. You’ll have to read for yourself.  😉 You can still purchase Buried Cold Case Secrets in print at most Walmarts and Targets–anywhere they sell the Lovie Inspired Suspens books! And online buy links are here.

Pat, you’ve done it again. I’ve not read Ms Abrams’ books yet, but I just put this one on my Nook, queued and ready to read.

I’m really enjoying Cheryl’s photography. I’m still working my way through her web site albums. I love her photos!

Ms Barb, the coldest on record in this area was -14° back in December 1963…we also had about 13 inches of snow on the ground. One white Christmas for sure. I think you will enjoy Buried Cold Case Secrets!

Perfect photo for today, Pat. The Scripture is a great reminder of what we are called to do!

Great choice of picture and verse. So glad we are not just limited to praising God from the rising to the setting of the sun but even in the darkest night.

I’m lagging on my reading. I think I mentioned Sidney Poitier’s autobiography last week. I finally started reading it a couple of days ago. I’m feeling better but still under the weather. You can take that two ways. I have not been well physically plus the snow and ice that came last Sunday is lingering. It’s the first time I can ever remember since moving into our home in 1973 that I have not gone out and at least shoveled a path to the car and the mailbox. If the sun will shine long enough and warm enough, I am going to let it do its job.

Edward, I always let the sun make the path to my mailbox and anywhere else when it snows! We don’t get enough snow to buy a shovel. lol Although we’ve had 3 snowfalls so far this year. A record, I’m sure and I heard it snowed in Natchez yesterday.

I love cold case stories! I think that’s one of my favorite troupes in LIS and one that you don’t often see. Cold Case Files was one of the top classicTV shows I enjoyed watching years ago. They showcase real stories and it was always fascinating how they solved cases that were decades or more old.

I think I would enjoy “Buried Cold Case Secrets”!

Hi Trixi! When I was writing the Memphis Cold Case Novels, I talked to the Cold Case detective who worked on the cases in Memphis. It was so fascinating to hear him talk. I think you would enjoy Buried Cold Case Secrets, too!
