Big Sky Showdown by Sharon Dunn is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: Fear skittered across Heather Jacobs’s nerves as half a dozen birds fluttered into the morning sky.
But first the photo and verse. I happened to look out the window earlier this week. On the hill above the house were two fawns. I wasn’t sure I could get outside fast enough to capture their photo, but I did. When they saw me, they didn’t run…I guess they haven’t learned to fear man yet. Sights like the fawns remind me of God’s goodness, and I was thankful He brought them near the house for me to see. God is good…and the answer is…All the time.

My Take:
I started Big Sky Showdown by Sharon Dunnat at three in the morning and couldn’t put it down until I finished it! This story has any twists and turns as Heather and Zane run for their lives. Sharon Dunn is one of my favorite LIS writers, and this story delivers big time. I was rooting for Heather and Zane as they ran for their lives and hope that Zane’s brother, Jordon, gets his own story.
I love the way Dunn weaves in the importance of fathers and their influence on their kids’ lives. This is a story that will grip you from the start to the finish. This is an early book that you can nab for $.50, and I highly recommend it. I’m looking forward to Sharon Dunn’s next book!

I’m glad you enjoyed my fawns. They are quite big to still have spots, I thought. And I haven’t seen them since. A herd is usually in the field out front every morning, but they’re so scattered I can’t get a good picture. Love Sharee Stover’s books, too!

The dark foliage of the trees really makes the fawns pop, doesn’t it? It’s quite the perfect photo. The surprise on their faces also looks like they got caught with their hooves in the cookie jar. lol

My husband and I are both reading Theo of Golden by Allen Levi. This is his very first book and he has a special way of “painting pictures with words”. My physical therapist is the one that recommended it. There’s over 160 holds for the ebook at the library.

Great shot! It’s interesting that deer sometimes spook at the blink of an eye and other times they stand in the same place for a long time.

It always amazes me when deer don’t run, Edward. And you never know when that will be. I need to get back to Davis Bunn’s books–I’ve read several!
You’re probably aware that Davis Bunn’s books are no longer like they were when he wrote his Marc Royce series and others of that genre. After he started publishing for the general market as Thomas Locke, even his Davis Bunn books have gone in a different direction. They all seem to have a certain mystique about them that no longer bears a Christian message. He still writes clean stories without the language, etc., that I seek to avoid, but they just aren’t the same. I’m glad he keeps them clean, but I really wish he would return to books more like what he was writing fifteen years ago.
