My take:
This is the first book in D. L. Woods’ P.I. Sophie Walsh series, and I can’t wait for the next one! Sophie is a private investigator for the D. A. in Huntsville, Alabama, right in my backyard. I enjoyed reading about places I recognized, although, as with most fiction books, some are made up.
The mystery drew me in right away. Was the man Sophie helped convict of killing three women guilty, or did she make a mistake? Or is it a copycat killing? I can’t talk too much abour the details of the mystery since I don’t want to give anything away, but this is a twisty, edge-of-your seat story. I was flipping pages on my Kindle like crazy.
Woods created a great character in Sophie, one that will keep the reader coming back through many stories. I love it that Sophie knows Krav Maga (krav maga focuses entirely on real-world survival and neutralizing threats efficiently.) and takes down a 6’3″ man in the early chapters. This is a series that suspense readers will want to read!

I keep going back to look at your photo, Pat. Great shot, and you’re right. The verse is a great match for it.

I’m almost finished with Lynette Eason’s “Twilight Tactics”. Talk about a thriller! If you’re sitting down, it will be at the edge of your seat. And, you don’t need a cliff to hang on. It’s built into the book. The first line is “FBI Special Agent Collin Sullivan–aka Sully–gripped the SUV’s wheel and glanced in the rearview mirror once more.” Really two intertwined plots in this story just to make it a challenge to figure out.
I am beginning book 2, Dark Design, by Nancy Mehl. Book 3 came out recently. I had preordered it. Now I’m binge-reading the series. It keeps the storyline fresh and exciting.
