Undercover Mountain Pursuit–Reader Friday

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 42 Comments

Reader Friday; Psalm 27:13-14

Undercover Mountain Pursuit by Sharon Dunn is this week’s Reader Friday. Here’s the first line: “Willow Farris leaned out the door of the helicopter and drew her camera up to her eye.”

But first the photo and verse. The photo is from my friend Cheryl Meints and taken at the Florida Everglades National Park. I thought these two went great together. If you haven’t taken a peek at her website, you’re missing some really interesting photos!

Now onto Undercover Mountain Pursuit by Sharon Dunn. Here’s the cover and back copy:

An undercover assignment turns into a perilous mountain escape.

Undercover Mountain PursuitAfter witnessing a shooting in a remote mountain location, high-risk photographer Willow Farris races to help—and runs into her old flame, Quentin Decker. Undercover to take down an international smuggler, Quentin has a mission to complete. But with Willow in the crosshairs, shielding her takes priority. If they want to bring the criminals to justice, Quentin and Willow must first get off the mountain alive…

My Take:

This was a fast-paced page-turner! I love the Love Inspired Suspense books because I don’t always have time to read a 350-page book, and I know an LIS will hold my attention, and Sharon Dunn’s Undercover Mountain Pursuit definitely did that.

As kids, Willow Farris and Quentin Decker always thought they would get married. But the night Quentin overcorrected his vehicle and caused the wreck that ended her bother’s life killed that dream. Both Willow and Quentin have been running ever since.

Now five years later, they will have to depend on each other to outrun the bad guys. Quentin is a CIA agent and Willows is an extreme sports photographer. Both are living on the edge. Quentin has been pursuing the man who killed his fellow agent and mentor, and when Willow can identify the man, the killer turns his sights on her.

There were times I wasn’t sure they would survive the trip down the mountain with the killer in hot pursuit. I quickly identified with both characters. Maybe with Willow, it was because I would love to have her job. Both Willow and Quentin were fantastic characters. It’s a story romantic suspense readers will enjoy.

Excellent review, Patricia! I won’t drop the first line of the book I’m reading because it’s not for every audience, but it’s Chouette by Claire Oshetsky. A woman thinks she’s pregnant with . . . (wait for it) . . . an owl! It’s slow burn weirdness, and I’m loving it.

How funny! But wait…it’s not supposed to be funny, is it. 😉 I’ve never gotten into fantasy or speculative…except maybe by a couple of authors like Rick Barry and James Rubart. So glad you stopped by, Priscilla!

What a fantastic photo! Isn’t it true that so often we are impatient, and don’t want to wait for the Lord. We need that reminder to wait for Him. His timetable is perfect.

I like Sharon’s books, and don’t read enough of them. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this one.

“Isabelle Trent woke with a start.” is the first line of Peril on the Ranch by Lynette Eason. It’s the first of her Timber Creek series. It’s an LIS, so a quicker read that most of her novels.

Breathtaking photo! The Scripture goes perfectly with the verse.

Undercover Mountain Pursuit is definitely a “make me want to read the book” review. Thanks, Pat.

“Jasmine eased out of her cell-like room and down the dimly lit hallway.” The book I’m reading just happens to be Justice Delivered by Patricia Bradley. Actually, I read the entire book at one sitting Friday night and was so intrigued, I started rereading it on Saturday morning. I’ve only done an immediate reread three times.

Pat, Thank you for the beautiful photo and verse! Each week it’s a Spiritual hug. Many times I return to reread past verses along their photos. I just ordered Sharon Dunn’s Undercover Mountain Pursuit and can’t wait for it’s arrival…though from the comments, I’ll begin it early in my day! ; -)

Love it when you post sunrises and sunsets with the Bible verses! A wonderful way to display the promises of God!

Gorgeous picture! Great verse! The book sounds exciting.

I am currently proofreading a book, so I can’t share the first line. I recently began the Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God with a small group at church. It’s a workbook rather than one to just pick up and start reading. If you’re not familiar with it, I recommend it.

Alicia, I love that opening sentence. As I read these, it makes me realize just how important that first sentence is! I’m glad you enjoyed

Oh I have this book! Won it on a contest very recently 🙂

Here’s the first line of the book I’m currently reading (Love Inspired Suspense):
“An eerie howl clawed at the edges of Shaylee Adler’s consciousness, dragging her from the depths of darkness”~ Tracking Concealed Evidence by Sharee Stover

Wowee…this one packs a punch from the get-go!!!!! I hope you put it on your list to read Patricia because I think you’d enjoy it too. One of the reasons I love it (so far) is our hero is a forensic entomologist (the study of bugs in forensics) & his K-9 partner is a cadaver dogs (finds dead bodies). I love the occupation our hero has, I find it very fascinating! If I were to ever have a career in an alternative life, I’d choose to be a forensic entomologist. I’m just not so sure about being around dead bodies…lol!

    Congrats to Natalya on winning!
