Three Really Dumb Criminals ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 55 Comments

Three Really Dumb Criminals; Psalm 8:3

Three Really Dumb Criminals is this week’s Mystery Question. But first the photo and verse. Priscilla Bettis took this beautiful photo of Jupiter and the moon at five o’clock in the morning and was kind enough to allow me to post it here. I’ve long loved the Scripture I added to it!

And now for last week’s Mystery Question–Three Really Dumb Criminals. As usual, three of these crimes really happened, and I made one up. Can you guess which one?
  1. A hot-tempered man was involved in an argument with a woman whom he cowardly punched in the face. He also attacked another person who was standing there, which caused him to drop his folder on the ground. He fled. The cops, who arrived at the scene a few minutes later, easily tracked him thanks to what was inside his folder—his anger-management homework.
  2. Then there’s the gunman who broke into a convenience store, tied up the cashier, and fled. But he left behind the money. When he realized his mistake, he went back. Unfortunately for him, by that time the door had automatically locked with the loot just sitting there “staring” at him as the police arrested him.
  3. Apparently, an idiotic thief decided to take his son along when he robbed a pet shop, but he was so busy counting the money that he totally forgot about his son whom he left behind. All police officers had to do after that was ask the child for the name of his idiotic father.
  4. After a chase, a policeman caught a thief and asked why he stole a woman’s watch, and he replied that he didn’t steal it, she gave it to him. When questioned further, he admitted it was after he showed her a gun.

And the answer is…#4 Congrats to all who guessed correctly. And here’s the link where I found these gems (and the ones from last week) — https://list25.com/25-stupid-criminals-who-got-caught-for-ridiculous-reasons/ .

And now for this week’s Mystery Question–Really Incompetent Criminals. As usual, three of these crimes really happened, and I made one up. Can you guess which one?
  1. A Nissan GT-R50 pulled into the welfare office parking lot, piquing a deputy’s interest, and he checked the tags. Yep. The man had driven a stolen $125,000 car to the welfare office.
  2. Criminals need to be more careful about choosing the right target. Like, choosing a target who isn’t pointing a camera at you as you steal their bag. This happened to a criminal in D.C. who got caught when he photobombed a family’s selfie as he stole their backpack on the steps of the Washington Monument.
  3. A thief in Portland, Oregon, broke into a house and stole everything of value he could find without leaving any fingerprints. His mistake? He got thirsty and drank straight from the orange juice carton and then set it half-empty carton in the sink. DNA, anyone?
  4. A serial bike thief got caught when he tried to sell one of his stolen bikes online–through Craigslist—to the person he had stolen it from without even knowing it.
Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a May drawing for a book from my library.

Congrats on a successful book launch for Counter Attack! Nice picture.:-) I think you made up number 3 because if a burglar was so careful about fingerprints, SURELY he wouldn’t leave his saliva behind on a carton!

I would guess #1. That would be pretty stupid, but then again, there are some very stupid thinking people out there!

Beautiful photo, Priscilla! I love the colorful hues…so unusual for a nighttime scene! Yes, Pat, I agree on the Scripture as well. God is pretty amazing and such an artist.

When I was a social worker, I had a client drive up in Cadillac wanting free food. However, my office was in the basement and she parked her caddie right outside my window and put something in the truck before she entered, I just happened to notice it was already stuffed with bags of groceries. I denied her and also #1.

I wonder if you made up #4 because of the use of Craigslist?

However, I really liked #2, because of the photobombing. LOL Crime didn’t pay for him.

I think the hues of the photo are awesome, too, Barbara! And I love your story. Some people will do just about anything to get something for nothing. We’ll see next week if it’s the photo-bomber.

I love the photo, and yea, I finally guessed a mystery ? right last week! For this week, I’ll go with #3. Drinking from the carton would leave DNA but so would picking up the carton 🙂

Priscilla, that is such a beautiful photo! I’ve been taking time to admire it. You caught the conjunction of Jupiter and the moon perfectly. Pat, that is a beautiful choice for the Psalm to go with it.

Pat, you’ve stumped me completely this time. Anyone one of those four could be true…or not. So, which is the least likely to be true? I’m going with #3 as the one you made up. DNA evidence is only useful if you have the DNA already on file. The thief could have been unlucky enough for his to be on file, but I’m guessing, like most of us, his was not.

Oh, these criminals! If they only knew how ridiculous they are! I’m going to guess #2.
Congratulations on the success of your new book! Of course, I never doubted! 🙂

Great picture-taking by Priscilla. Five o’clock in the morning. Nuh-uh. When I read that Jupiter could be seen in the early morning, I didn’t figure I would get up in time for that. I’m glad someone did so we could enjoy the picture and “consider His heavens and the works of his fingers.” That is a memorable picture and verse.

I’m choosing #3. Anyone careful enough to ensure no fingerprints is not likely to leave the orange juice carton setting there. I think he would have taken it to a dumpster somewhere. I can envision the other three happening.

There was a time I would’ve gotten up at five to get that shot, Edward…and I probably would have if I’d known about it. However, since I rarely watch the news any longer, I didn’t know…rats. But Priscilla did a great job!

Love your logic, Edward…we’ll see if it works out next week…

Beautiful picture. The verse fits it well. Congratulations on the success of your new book. Wow, people sure are crazy! I’m going to guess #1. It’s not the most common car for a person to have.

I’m guessing #1 Our welfare office doesn’t even have a security officer let alone a deputy.

Awesome photo and verse! It’s hard to believe that any of your mystery questions are true! As #1 is popular I’ll guess #1 also

This is a tough one! I’ve gone back and forth, but I’m going with #1, only because I’m thinking surely a crook would put the juice carton back in the fridge, but who knows!! . Love the photo and scripture.
