Really Really Dumb Criminals 19 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 46 Comments

Really Really Dumb Criminals 19 is this week’s Mystery Question. Again, one from the archives, but I think enough time has passed that you won’t remember it — I didn’t.

But first the photo and verse. I took the photo while on a cruise with my family. The cruise was a first for us as a family and for me, period. I loved it!  I thought the verse went well with it–it’s a verse I memorized about the same time I heard the song below.

Now for last week’s Really Really Dumb Criminals 18. Three of the following statements are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. What initially started out as a single traffic violation turned into additional charges. Police clocked a woman going 91 miles an hour and pulled her over.  When he attempted to give her a ticket, she jerked the ticket book out of his hand, then rolled her window up on his arm when he reached for it. Then she put the car in drive and ran over his foot. The judge set bail at $40,000.
  2. One woman in Southeast Missouri decided to borrow a hearse for about an hour. Then she returned it to its owners and called the police to tell them what she had done. The police are still deciding about charges.
  3. She thought no one would look at her face if she wore a clown suit with the customary big shoes. At least that’s what she told police after they arrested her for robbing the bank she normally used. Now she’s looking at five to ten years in prison for attempted bank robbery.
  4. In Virginia, a man thought it would be funny to post a video of himself holding a gun on YouTube. Someone who didn’t think it was funny alerted police, who discovered the gun was not registered. Police charged him with a federal crime because it was manufactured outside of Virginia.

And the answer is…yeah, I did it three times in a row = #3. 😉 Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s Really Really Dumb Criminals 19. Three of the following statements are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. A self-professed “queen of IRS fraud” paid $30,000 for her one-year-old’s birthday party and bragged on Facebook where the money came from.
  2. A 23-year-old responded to a police FB “Wanted to Arrest” post with this comment: I need to get a new mugshot. The police offered to accommodate him for free. His reply: If only they were as good at finding me as they are with comebacks. They responded by arresting him.
  3. Thinking his parole officer wasn’t on Facebook, a robber documented his cross-country flight with posts like “I’m in Alabama” and a sonogram of his unborn child with a hospital sign in the background. He was arrested and sent back to Oregon.
  4. And of course, we all know about the burglar who used his victim’s computer to check his Facebook page. But how about the woman who tried on her victim’s diamond necklace and posted it on her Facebook page? The victim recognized the necklace and the burglar and called the police.

Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments, and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!

Here’s a song that I’ve loved from the first time I heard it back in 1997. I hope you enjoy!

    Maybe #2.
I don’t remember hearing the song before.
Cruises are great. It’s a relaxing vacation because you don’t have to cook, clean, or drive!

Nice photo and verse to match. I’ve only been on a couple of lake cruises. Once on a car ferry across Lake Michigan from Wisconsin to Michigan. Nothing to see but water. The cruises we took on lakes in Switzerland were absolutely beautiful. Mountains everywhere!!!

These are really, really dumb criminals. There ought to be a law. 🙂
#1. Yeah, the police don’t read Facebook, so I should be good.
#2. Glad the police were so accommodating.
#3. Lesson to be learned: If you commit a crime, stay off Facebook.
#4. Boasting will always get you in trouble.
Unless it was a really small town, or she stole from an acquaintance, this one seems unlikely. I’ll say you made up #4.

Beautiful photo for the scripture, Pat!

I’m house/dog sitting for friends while they are on a cruise.

    Have a blessed week.

Lovely photo and Scripture, Pat . . .powerful meaning. I’d never heard that song before either.
James and I are both going with #1. Part of me wants to go with #4 for the same reason Tim mentioned.

The only time I have been far enough out in the water that I couldn’t see land was on three deep-sea fishing excursions. I’ve been on a few dinner boat cruises on several rivers and lakes. We still hope to take a cruise in the next few years. I enjoyed your picture. The verse suits it well.

I usually struggle to decide which one to choose. I picked #4 on my second read today. For the victim to recognize the necklace on Facebook, the thief would almost certainly have had to be a Facebook friend. I’m sure that’s possible, but the likelihood seems very slim.

Hi Edward…as always I love your reasoning…we’ll see next week if it’s #4. I think you would enjoy a cruise…touring the different gardens on the islands was the highlight of my cruises.

I love the picture! The verse made me think of the old hymn Love Lifted Me.
I am guessing #2 this week although it really could have been any of them.
