Really Really Dumb Criminals 18 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 55 Comments

Really Really Dumb Criminals 18 is this week’s Mystery Question. Again, it’s one from the archives that I’ve updated a little…

But first the photo and verse. I took this when in Morristown, Tennessee, after Barbara Diggs and her husband told me to watch for the view from the second hill on my way back to I-81. I did, and this was my view! Thanks, Barbara and James! (The first hill had a beautiful view, but power lines marred the photo.)

Now for last week’s  Really Really Dumb Criminals. Three of the following statements are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. Carjackers took a man’s car and had to abandon it because they couldn’t drive a stick shift.
  2. Police caught two people at a Tesla charging station suspected of stealing more than $8000 in electronics from a store a mere 10 miles away. Seems they forgot to charge their getaway car before the job.
  3. After stealing over $5,000 worth of tools and stuffing them in his backpack, the thief called an Uber to pick him up in front of the store he was robbing. Unfortunately, the Uber driver was late, but the police were not.
  4. A woman discovered her Tesla had been stolen. Her app showed the location of her car with the battery range down to 15 miles. Police followed the stolen car until it ran out of power and came to a stop.

And the answer is…#3 (again lol) Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s Really Really Dumb Criminals 18.  Three of the following statements are true, and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. What initially started out as a single traffic violation turned into additional charges. Police clocked a woman going 91 miles an hour and pulled her over.  When he attempted to give her a ticket, she jerked the ticket book out of his hand, then rolled her window up on his arm when he reached for it. Then she put the car in drive and ran over his foot. The judge set bail at $40,000.
  2. One woman in Southeast Missouri decided to borrow a hearse for about an hour. Then she returned it to its owners and called the police to tell them what she had done. The police are still deciding about charges.
  3. She thought no one would look at her face if she wore a clown suit with the customary big shoes. At least that’s what she told police after they arrested her for robbing the bank she normally used. Now she’s looking at five to ten years in prison for attempted bank robbery.
  4. In Virginia, a man thought it would be funny to post a video of himself holding a gun on YouTube. Someone who didn’t think it was funny alerted police, who discovered the gun was not registered. Police charged him with a federal crime because it was manufactured outside of Virginia.

Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments, and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!

The beauty found on the open road. Great photo, Pat. If God gives such beauty for us here, how much more beauty awaits us in heaven! Thank you for posting Marty Haugen’s video.

    Ah, the dumb criminals…
#1. What was that woman thinking. That could not end well.
#2. Who in their right mind would “borrow” a hearse?
#3. Got to stop clowning around.
    #4. Ain’t technology wonderful? Gotcha!
Sadly, I think they’re all possible, but I’m going with #1 as the one you made up.

Pat! You got my mountain! You got my mountain! I am so excited I can hardly stand it! And you got the correct view, too! I have been trying for years to get a photo of this.

You made my day. What a delightful and joyous surprise to see this! The Scripture is perfect.

I am in full blown ADHD mode at the moment and am having a hard time focusing on which criminal is the dumbest. I’m going with #1 because I think the judge should have set the bail higher. . .like $500,000. Gotta support the brothers in blue, you know?

I am guessing #2 since it would seem the owners of the hearse would have to press charges.

I love the photo and verse!

Beautiful picture and verse. The following song by the Gaithers immediately came to mind when I read the verse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzKqfNDJpS8&list=RDWzKqfNDJpS8&start_radio=1
Was that picture taken heading south on 25E from Morristown? There is some beautiful country in that area.

    1. I think that would have taken great restraint not to “clock” her after all that.
    2. Did she borrow or “borrow” the hearse? I guess the police know more details than I do since they are considering charges.
    3. She might have gotten away with it if the bank rotated employees as often as the ones around here do.
    4. The way Virginia lawmakers keep clamping down on guns, you’re better off not to even look at one here, much less post a picture on social media with one.

I think the third time is a charm. I’m going with 3 again. That one is simply beyond ridiculous.

It was taken going south from Morristown…not sure of the highway but Barbara Diggs could tell us, Edward. 🙂 We’ll see if it’s #3 next week…I’ll check out the Gaither song!

    2. Barbara Diggs

Hi Edward. It’s TN 66 S, a newer road. However, 25E is not far away. Good job recognizing the area! You are correct, there is some beautiful country over here

      1. Edward Arrington

Barbara, I have been on 25E several times. I saw 66 on Google Maps earlier today but haven’t driven on it. In the early 70s when I was in college in Wilmore, KY, southwest of Lexington, we drove 25E north from Bean Station to Corbin, KY many times as we traveled back and forth for weekend visits home. That was before I-81 had been built from Bristol to I-40. We drove that “killer” 11W from Kingsport to Bean Station.

    3. Barbara Diggs

Oh mercy, Edward. That WAS a killer drive. Not many people have heard of Bean Station. lol. I know exactly where it is. I remember my cousin, in Johnson City, drove my father from JC to Baltimore on Highway 11. It took forever. My cousin wouldn’t use I 40 or I 81. Now I prefer H 11 because 81 is horrific with traffic. Times have changed.

I’m guessing #1 because the bail is too low. But the hearse and the clown are equally just plain stupid!
