More Dumb Laws Take 13 ~ Mystery Question

More Dumb Laws 13; Ps 89:37

More Dumb Laws 13 is this week’s Mystery Question. With my deadline, these are easier than finding dumb crimes, and I’m really enjoying them, anyway.

Now for the photo. This month I got photos of three phases of the moon, so I put them together for a meme. Isn’t it funny how the quarter moon is so much lighter than the other two. But we’d recently had rain and washed the dust away–you did know dust is what makes the sunrises and sunsets and the yellow color of the moon? This is the last super moon for the year and I’m glad I captured it. And I thought the verse was perfect!

Now for last week’s Mystery Question. Just like with dumb crimes, three of these laws are really on some state’s books, and I made one up. Note someone compiled this list in 2011 and some of the laws can be quite old. Can you guess which one I made up?
  1. It is unlawful for chickens to lay eggs before 8AM and after 4PM. (West Virginia)
  2. In this state, you are allowed to marry your house. (Wisconsin)
  3. At one time in this state, you could be legally married by publicly introducing a person as your husband or wife 5 times.
  4. You may not take a picture of a rabbit during the month of June. (Wyoming)

And the answer is…#3 Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s Mystery Question. Just like with dumb crimes, three of these laws are really on some state’s books, and I made one up. Note someone compiled this list in 2011 and some of the laws can be quite old. Can you guess which one I made up?
  1. You may not wear denim overalls down Noble Street in this town.
  2. It is illegal for men and women over the age of 18 to have less than one missing tooth visible when smiling in this state.
  3. In this state, nobody is allowed to ride a bicycle in a swimming pool.
  4. This state mandates that all bachelors should be called master, not mister, when addressed by their female counterparts.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library.

September’s winner is Lucy!

Maybe #3? I don’t know how anyone could ride a bicycle in a swimming pool, unless it had no water in it.
I love moon shots, especially ones made at the beach! Beautiful

I’m going with #1 mainly because you may have a Noble street and not even know it, I sure don’t know all the streets in my town, and all the others sounds dumb enough to be a crazy law!
Y the way Patricia, I’m back reading Counter Attack. I had to put it aside because a book I had reserved from Libby came available, which you have to read or lose your spot. It is so good! I’m looking forward to the rest of this series already!

Thank you, Ms. Dottie! I’m working hard on the 3rd book…now have half of it done…God has certainly opened the floodgates on my mind! We’ll see next week if it’s #1.

Your moon photo(s) are great and enjoyable. These are dumb laws. I sure hope you made up #2. You’re giving me a list of states to avoid and certainly never think of living there! Happy for your steady progress on this deadline. May inspiration and words flow!

Great moon shots, Pat. Love the progression and it is amazing that the quarter moon is lighter. Very interesting facts about dust and sunrises and sunsets, I didn’t know this.

I’ve seen stationary bikes in pools at the gym, but not moving bikes.
I hope you made up #2. Smiling is wonderful, teeth or no teeth

Congratulations on the contracts for audio!

Blessings and prayers on your progress with the deadline.

#2. The funny thing about last week’s stupid laws is that I grew up in Wyoming, yet I never knew it was illegal to photograph a rabbit in June. I swear, I never broke that law!

The moon shows so many meteor strikes from the past, yet is looks so unchanged from the first time it was photographed. The verse you chose reflects that so well.

Oh boy. I would sure like to read the discussions those law makers had when they were deliberating these truly crazy laws! Had I been there, I probably would have said, “Are you nuts? People are going to laugh themselves silly over these.” I guess #4 is fair play since unmarried ladies got stuck with “miss”. But, I’m thinking #1 is the one you made up. Why in the world would denim overalls be outlawed? And, why limit them only to denim? After thinking about some of these crazy laws, I wonder how many of those being passed today will be laughed at as much in the future?

What a great job you did capturing the moon in each of those phases! The verse is a good match.

I have read #2 several times. Unless I am reading it wrong, I cannot imagine a state passing a law that requires a person who smiles for a picture to have at least one missing tooth. That’s promoting bad dental health. If it said no MORE than one missing tooth, I might see that as getting into the law books.

Thanks, Edward. It took a while to get them lined up in the photo…I wish the quarter moon hadn’t been quite so bright so it matched the other two. lol We’ll see how your logic pans out next week on #2…

Interesting shots of the moon! The verse is very fitting.
These laws get dumber and dumber! Lol Very hard to think any of them are legit but they do make you laugh. Guessing #2 just for fun
