Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 37 Comments

It’s hard to believe that just three weeks ago, I attended the wedding of a friend in a large gathering. And now I’m starting week three of sheltering-in. Sheltering-in will be one of the new phrases added to the dictionary when they update it!

I’ve been meditating on this verse for a few days now and realized it’s true. God gives us the power to overcome any problem if we but trust Him. This too shall pass and but at least there will also be good things to come from this virus. Like families will come closer together as they shelter-in. I have a friend who jokingly said, “I discovered the woman sitting next to me on the couch was my wife.” Sometimes we’re so busy we forget to connect with our loved ones.

But best of all, I saw where stores were selling out of Bibles. Hopefully, those who are buying will continue to read theirs when life returns to normal.

And now onto last week’s Mystery Question…but first! I forgot to draw a name for Lisa Harris’s book, Deadly Intentions, on Friday. And Random dot org chose…Mary Hart!

Four stories, three are true. Which one did I make up?
  1.  A woman hopped the fence at a zoo and danced in front of a lion who was so stunned, he just stared at her. Her friend taped the whole thing and she uploaded it to Instagram which helped police track her down.
  2. A woman avoided a DUI charge because she was driving her child’s toy truck. When asked why, she responded she wanted to be a professional wrestler and heard getting any kind of publicity was the best way to do it.
  3. A man was arrested after walking around town wearing a mask and carrying a sword…not for the sword, but for wearing a mask. It appears it’s okay to carry a sword in this town, but not okay to wear a mask that concealed his identity.
  4. A man was diagnosed with cancer and thought he was dying. He confessed to a ten-year-old murder because he wanted to clear his conscience. The diagnosis proved false, and he retracted his confession, but too many of the details proved to be true and he was convicted in the murder.

And the answer is…#4. Can you believe the woman dancing in front of the lion? Congrats to all who guess correctly!

Now for this week’s Mystery Question: Three of the following stories are true. One is false. Can you guess which one?
  1. “Haha, catch me if you can …” the criminal taunted the police. He went on to tell them he’d been walking around his neighborhood and a few hours later he was in police custody. It doesn’t pay to remind police that they’re looking for you.
  2. “I have your dog and I want $500 to return it.” The message posted via Facebook once again proved how dumb criminals can be. The police quickly traced the message back to the thief and the dog was returned to its owner.
  3. When the bank teller realized the robber was deaf, he triggered the alarm and the robber was quickly arrested. Months later, he tried to sue the bank for exploiting his disability.
  4. It wasn’t the dye that exploded in the money bag that brought down the bank robber–it was the obviously fake blonde wig, fake breasts and clown pants that caught the police’s attention.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in this month’s drawing for a book from my library! Jesus Calling will be among the selections!

Thanks for that Bible passage reminder. Also glad to see Bibles selling out. God works good from evil all the time.

Pat, your crazy crime stories this week have me scratching my head again. All are a bit nuts, but I’m going with #2 this week.

So glad I have you scratching your head, Tim. It’s so hard to come up with a story as crazy as the true ones. lol. And I enjoy making the scripture memes. We’ll see next week if it’s #2. Blessings!

I am running behind today. I feel like I have been in meetings or preparing for meetings all day. It’s about time to call it a day but I want to submit my guess. I think the second one proves more than how dumb criminals can be. It’s a prime example of the carelessness of many people. However, I am choosing #3. First, unless this was some small rural bank, I doubt even a criminal with good hearing would hear the alarm as they are typically silent alarms sending out an alert to the police and alarm company. However, let’s assume for a minute that it was not silent. I suspect an old-fashioned alarm sounding off in the building would have caused some sensation in the thief that would have tipped him off that an alarm had been triggered. Although I question the truth of this one, I don’t doubt for a minute that the person would have tried to sue the bank.

Pat, I understand about criminals. My comments were based on working more than 40 years in banking. Of course, I know you can be tricky and might have pulled out an actual case from many years ago, but then the part about the lawsuit would not fit because our society was not as litigious back when bank alarms were usually far from silent.

I’m going with Edwards logic this week and go with #3, he seems to be a smart cookie!

I just can’t believe that the story of the woman taunting the lion from last week was true! Crazy people.
