More Crazy Laws #35~ Mystery Questions

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 42 Comments

More Crazy Laws #35 is this week’s Mystery Question. Can you believe there are this many crazy laws on still on the books? But first the photo and verse.

The photo is from my weekend trip down the Natchez Trace to Jackson, Mississippi, to keynote and teach at a women’s writer’s retreat. I had a ball at the retreat and the drive down was so pretty. I do believe there are thousands of shades of green! And everyone of them was on display this trip. And the verse just seemed to fit the photo. 😉

Now onto last week’s Back to Crazy Laws #34. Three true laws and one made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. It’s against the law here to maim yourself to avoid jury duty. (AL)
  2. In this state you can’t be charged for a free alcoholic beverage. (KS)
  3. You can’t paint a pig in this state.
  4. Here it’s against the law to put up a do-it-yourself electric fence. (ME)

And the answer is…#3. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now onto this week’s More Crazy Laws #35. Three true laws and one made up one.
Can you guess which one?
  1. Here residents may not bring their pet flamingos into barber shops.
  2. If you want to join the Dry Pea and Lentil Council, you must be a citizen of this state.
  3. You can’t wear a bullet-proof vest to commit murder here.
  4. Did you know you can be sued in this state if your tom cat sires a litter of unplanned kittens?

Okay, Super Slueths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a $10 gift card!

Beautiful picture. I want to visit there sometime. Great verse.

I’m going with #2. I think those others are necessary laws.

It was such a peaceful drive, Edward…until I looked down and saw I wouldn’t have enough gas to get to the next big town…Thank goodness for a small grocery and gas station on the Highway 8 junction! We’ll see next week if it’s #2.

I did not realize I was replying on someone else’s post. I had spent the night in the hospital after having a heart cath yesterday. I almost always use my laptop for these, but only had my smart phone handy. My comment did not go where I intended. Just another thing that makes me question if I’ll ever want to use a phone for everything like some people try to do.

I’m so glad the heart cath is behind you! I hope they didn’t find anything but your heart… 😉 I much prefer to use my computer over a tablet or phone to type on!

#4 could be trouble ANYwhere and how could they enforce? DNA paternity suits? These are so entertaining except also concerning where they are laws that remain on the books!

Your photo makes me green with envy that for me it’s the road not taken. The verse you chose to go with it says it straight up.

    Let’s see…
#1. I sure wouldn’t want to see a flamingo in the barber shop I go to, so yeah, let’s make it a law. 🙂
#2. Are there really Dry Pea and Lentil Councils? Who knew?
#3. No bullet-proof when committing murder. I guess that’s to give the victim a fighting chance.
#4. Does a tom cat ever sire a planned litter of kittens? I know my cats don’t do much planning, unless it to plan on sleeping.
I’ve got to say that you made up #4. That law would just be too ridiculous, even for politicians.

James and I both pick #3. If you’re going to commit murder, do you want someone to know, or be prepared in advance? Go ahead and wear the vest! Hopefully, the perp will get caught before the murder. James won the guess last week. lol

Love your pic of The Trace. I had expected it to be more curvy like The Blue Ridge Parkway. Glad you checked the gas tank!!!!

I knew last week that James had won and refrained from telling you. lol We’ll see if it’s #3 next week…there are places where the Trace is very curvy and you really have to watch for people on bicycles. That’s why the speed is 50 mph. lol

      1. Barbara Diggs

Hahah. He was pretty excited to win and very surprised! When I told him this weeks laws were up, he rushed right into the room to read them make a guess. lol

Whoa people on bicycles! That could be dangerous. But what a lovely ride for them. Does The Trace get crowded?

Except for around Tupelo and Jackson, the Trace is rarely crowded. But you have to watch for deer as well as bicycles. But it’s a beautiful drive with no big trucks to worry aobut.

That looks like a nice, relaxing, and peaceful road to travel. A favorite verse. I am guessing #3 again this week.

I enjoyed traveling the Natchez Trace on one of our trips. Beautiful scenery to see while riding.
    I’m going to guess #4.

Erika, it’s really a lovely drive. I saw a lot of turkeys and thankfully only 1 deer–they don’t always let you know when they’re going to cross the road. lol We’ll see next week if it’s #4

  6. Ms. Dottie

Looks like you had a beautiful Spring day to enjoy your drive! The Natchez Trace looks like a very peaceful, relaxing drive. Your series about the area was one of my absolute favorites, wouldn’t mind a #5 in it!
I’m going to guess #3. It’s like you have to have certain attire or dress code before you can commit the crime!
