More Crazy Laws #25 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 42 Comments

More Crazy Laws #25 is this week’s Mystery Question. I wonder how long I can find these crazy laws. lol But I keep getting them from unlikely resources. 🙂

Now for the photo and verse. The photo is a sister to the one from Friday, just taken from a different spot.  I’m truly amazed at the beautiful skies we’ve had lately…on the days we have sunshine. 🙂 And the verse seems to fit very well.

Now for last week’s More Crazy Laws. Three of these laws are actually on some state’s books. And I made up one–although I can’t completely guarantee that the one I made up isn’t on the books somewhere…but as far as I know, it isn’t. Let’s see if you can guess which one I made up.
  1. In this state, it is unlawful to lend your vacuum cleaner to your next-door neighbor.
  2. Here, a pickle is not officially a pickle unless it bounces, and if it doesn’t, it’s illegal to call it a pickle.
  3. Did you know in this state it’s illegal for rats to leave the ships when they dock?
  4. It is illegal to catch a snake with your bare hands here.

And the answer is…#4. Congrats to all who guessed correctly.

  1. You can’t collect seaweed in this state at night.
  2. If you’re on the library board in this state, you must swear you haven’t participated in any duels.
  3. Here you can’t ride your horse on the front porch.
  4. In this state, it’s illegal to scare a pigeon.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments, and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library that will include Lynette Eason’s latest book! Or maybe Fatal Witness...

    I’m gonna go with #2
Poor Pippy Longstocking if she lives in the state where #3 is a law…LOL

Beautiful sky, and likewise, a good choice for the Scripture to go with it.

#1 Who would want to collect seaweed at night anyway?
#2. I guess the library board doesn’t want any blood on their member’s hands.
#3. You’d need a long porch to ride anything other than a rocking horse.
#4. Illegal to scare a pigeon? The pigeons must have really good representation.

Sigh, I think you made up #3. I know we’re talking about politicians, who might just be as dumb as these laws, but I don’t think illegal porch horse riding would make it into law.

Tim, haven’t you ever watched any of those old Western movies where the outlaws rode their horses onto the porch before setting the house on fire?

      1. Tim Johnson

Edward, now that you’ve reminded me, I do recall some of those westerns. I think some outlaws even road their horses inside at times. I suppose intimidation was the point.

Pat I have learned not to drink coffee as I read these “laws”. Most of them are so comical I would definitely choke. It was hard for me to choose between #3 and #4 so I’m guessing #4. I miss the mark so often it’s probably neither. Lol
Excited for the soon release of Fatal Witness!

Love the yellow glow with the branches in front. I don’t often see that much or that kind of yellow in a sky. Beautiful.

Guess I’m going with #3 about not riding your horse on the front porch. I have to agree with Gail Hollingsworth though. Poor Pippi Longstocking wouldn’t be able to tolerate this one.

Less than a month now. . . actually 28 days until Fatal Witness comes out, but who’s counting? 🙂 So excited for you, Pat!!!

Thank you, Barbara! I am beyond excited…also tired! Spent yesterday creating memes for the release. lol If it weren’t for marketing, I could write a whole lot more. 😉

      We’ll see next week if it’s #3.

Looking forward to seeing the memes. I hear ya on the marketing. It’s like dusting. It has to be done, but not the most fun part. I’m sure you are tired. . . Marketing brain. You need a good sniff of paper and pen to revive the heart! 🙂

I say #3. I can’t see the porch as roomy enough for a decent ride, so I can’t see why anyone would want to make it unlawful.

Another beautiful picture and great Scripture selection!

That second one is probably a current law in several states. With all the debates over library books, they don’t want their board members squaring off against each other.

We all know what a big mess pigeons leave wherever they congregate. I’m sure this law was an attempt to avoid even bigger messes from a bunch of scared pigeons.

I’m going with #1. I could probably make a case against collecting seaweed anytime. I was told thirty years ago that it was illegal to remove sand from Virginia Beach. I don’t think there would be a reason to restrict collecting seaweed at night.
