More Crazy Laws #21 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 52 Comments

More Crazy Laws #21; 2Timothy 1:7

More Crazy Laws #21 is this week’s Mystery Question. I’m really enjoying these crazy laws! Oh, on a funny note, every time I type crazy, I get a pop-up that says I should use a more human-centric language…

Now for the photo and verse. I took the photo on the very first cruise I was on with my daughters way back in 2015–it was such a special time!

Now for this week’s Mystery Question. Just like with dumb crimes, three of these laws are really on the city books in different states, and I made one up. Note someone compiled this list in 2011 and some laws can be quite old. Can you guess which one I made up?
  1. You may not step out of a plane in flight. (Maine)
  2. Here it is illegal to keep a flock of geese in your RV.
  3. It is illegal to drive a camel on the highway.  (Nevada)
  4. In this state, it’s against the law to kill a housefly within 160 feet of a church without a license. (Ohio)

And the answer is… #2. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for this week’s Mystery Question. Just like with dumb crimes, three of these laws are really on the city books in different states, and I made one up. Note someone compiled this list in 2011 and some laws can be quite old. Can you guess which one I made up?
  1. It is considered an offense to push a live moose out of a moving airplane.
  2. It’s illegal for frogs to croak after 11 PM.
  3. In this state is illegal to sleep on top of a freezer outdoors.
  4. By law, if a man promises to marry an unmarried woman, the marriage must take place.

Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a November drawing for a book from my library.

One more thing! Goodreads has a contest for the Most Anticipated Christian Fiction 2024! Fatal Witness is #79 on the list–I would love it if you hopped over and voted for it!

And here are our four generations of girls!

Love the verse and photos. I’m going w #1 ’cause I don’t think you can get a live moose in a plane and “look out below” if it’s dropped. I have a horrible feeling that it’s probably true, but it shouldn’t be. I’ll still go with that.

I absolutely love the photo of the four generations. It’s a wonderful picture, Pat.

I was really shocked the “killing the fly”from last week one wasn’t it! I’ll get over it. lol

Oh my word, these laws get crazier by the week! ( BTW can’t believe your program told you to use more human-centric language!!!!!) Good grief!

#If I was in a plane with a moose, I might be the one jumping instead of trying to push out the moose. If it was Bullwinkle, though, I’d stay and talk to him.
#2 Good idea to have the frogs go to sleep after 11:00 and also sleep in a little longer in the morning.
#3 Ha! Sleeping on top of the freezer. Hmmmm , but it might be to keep warm. Usually, freezers are warm on top, so a cat might be quite comfortable.
#4 The first guy I was engaged to decided he wanted out, so he broke his promise. BOY! Am I I ever glad. That would have been a disaster.
Hmmm, so I guess writing that gave me my answer. Going with #4

Love your moon/water shot and the perfect verse you put with it!

Yeah, Barbara, some of these laws will really shock you. lol We’ll see how #3 works out next week. I really like our photo too. This is one we took ourselves, then a photographer came and took some more.

Beautiful photo and powerful verse; a good reminder when we have doubts.
Also, a great photo of you and your girls!

I donno, Pat. I think “crazy” is pretty human-centric.

#1 would certainly be offensive to the moose.
#2 but, when can they croak again? Or, does that mean they’d better not die after 11PM?
#3 I’m surprised it’s not illegal to sleep on top a freezer anytime. Who’d do that?
#4 What if he promises to marry a married woman? That should be illegal, too.
They’re all too dumb, but I’ll say you made up #3.

Again, you have chosen a wonderful picture and matched it with a great verse. Great picture of your four generations.

I am guessing that if no one is around to hear the frogs after 11 PM, they are not croaking. It seems the only way to enforce that law is to stay away from the frog pond. I’m also guessing that #1 goes along with the Maine law last week about jumping from planes. If it’s illegal to jump from a plane in flight, then there should certainly be a law against pushing a moose, or any other animal, from a moving plane. I can see lots of issues in forcing a man and woman to marry simply because he made a rash promise to marry her, but maybe some state sees a promise to marry as binding as a betrothal in the Bible. That only leaves #3 so I’ll go with it.

I just did some checking to see if I could find another word for you to use in an effort to be more human-centric. Maybe you could change the total “More Laws Written by Mentally Deranged Persons.” LOL!

If chickens can have their own laws I guess frogs are entitled to theirs too, not sure how though. I’m pretty sure it’s against the law to be inside a freezer, but not sure about sleeping on top of one?? so….. I’m going with #3. They’re all pretty crazy though! I love the picture of all your girls. Your little great granddaughter is a doll and reminds me of a young Dolly in her Christmas tv movies.
I voted for your book and can’t wait for the release of it, it is highly anticipated!

Love your logic, Ms. Dottie! And thank you so much for taking the time to vote! It’s at #14 now!! My great-granddaughter is a mess! Oh, and I’m working on the edits for book 3 in the series!
