More Bogus Breakups–Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 47 Comments

More Bogus Breakups; Psalm 65:8

More Bogus Breakups is this week’s Mystery Question because I had a lot of fun with the last one. 🙂 Only this time it’s the girls who are doing the dumping.

But first the photo and scripture. By now, I’m sure you know I love sunrises and sunsets. This sunset was taken at Arkabutla Lake near Coldwater, Mississippi. The Coldwater River and the lake created by the dam at Arkabutla have the BEST catfish in the world. Probably other fish, too. 🙂 I’ve always loved this photo taken in 1995 or ’96.

Now for Bogus Breakups and Excuses–the Mystery Question for last week. Three of these are true and I made up one…which was very difficult!
  1. A woman told “Cosmopolitan” that she flew across the country to see her now ex-boyfriend. He told her he couldn’t see her because all of his clothes were dirty.
  2. The man shrugged when he told his soon-to-be-ex, “It’s like this…I just don’t see myself being with anyone who loves Dancing With the Stars.”
  3. The boyfriend told his soon-to-be-ex: “I just don’t have time for a relationship right now. You see, I have a high-maintenance bird that demands a lot of my attention, which makes my other pet jealous. I have to spend more time with my dog.”
  4. “I know we discussed paragliding in July, but I got to thinking. If I were permanently injured in an accident, I don’t think you’d stay with me. So I’m leaving now before that happens.”

And the answer is…#2. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for More Bogus Breakups–the Mystery Question for this week. It’s the girls’ turn this week. Three of these are true and I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. Her answering machine: “Hi, I’m not home right now, If you’re Jerry, hang up, if you are any other available male, press two now.”
  2. “They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. I hope you find someone who treasures you,” she said.
  3. “I’m just trying to find myself and I need to be alone to do that…”
  4. “I don’t have time for a relationship right now. I’ve got to focus on finding out why my makeup is pilling.”

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a September drawing for a book in my library!

More Bogus Breakups is the Mystery Question for this week. As usual, four breakup sentences, three true, one false. Can you guess the made up one? Leave a comment and be entered in a September drawing for a book from my library. Click To Tweet

**This post was written two weeks ago, and I forgot to unscheduled it. 🙂 Since I don’t have a Friday post, this is the only one for this week. Thank you all for understanding. You’re the best!

Thanks for sharing your talent with us,I love your books. It is extremely hard to find a Christian Author that has your talent to spin a tale as well as you, I would be grateful if you could offer up some talented writers that have your faith
Thanks for feeding my need to read clean Christian based books

Thank you, Judy. I have made many friends with Christian authors since I’ve been writing, especially in romantic suspense. Right off the bat, I think of Lynette Eason, Elizabeth Goddard (I’m reading one of her Love Inspired Suspense books now.), Natalie Walters, Sally Jo Pitts, Christy Barritt…I think I’ll write a blog post about different Christian authors I would recommend! Thank you. 🙂

Hmm. #1 made me laugh, but I can see someone who is really ticked do that. I’m going with #4 because because I don’t think a guy would have any idea what pilling makeup is.

The photo and verse made my morning. Thanks, Pat.

Oh a calendar is a great idea, Patrica! It could be for 2022 and you’re correct, it would have to be quick. A friend gave me one with photos she had taken last year. It was a delightful Christmas gift. Just love it!

The picture is beautiful. What a great Scripture verse to match with it!

Let’s see. Others think the first one is mean. I don’t have a particular problem with it. I think the second one is harsh. She’s basically telling him that he is trash to her. I’ll go with #4. I agree with Tim. I certainly don’t know what pilling makeup is. Is that the same as makeup that is clumping up?

Edward, I have no idea what pilling make-up is either and I am a female….lol! But then again, I don’t wear make-up so there is that 🙂

    Hello Patricia,
A lot of times I read these & don’t leave a response because you are so good at making the extra up, lol. Today I’m going to guess #4.
But my main reason for responding to your post today is the blast from the past your talking about Arkabutla Lake is for me. I was born in Memphis and my family moved to Southaven MS when I was 3-4 years old. Then we built a house and moved to Lake Cormorant when I was around 7. My dad used to take us fishing at Arkabutla Lake for catfish. Usually night fishing. Reading just this little bit brought back so many memories for me. That is also why I loved your Memphis Cold Case and Logan Point series so much because I could recognize several landmarks from my childhood. Keep up the good work. We are still praying for you.

I’m so glad my photo sparked a memory! I love Coldwater River and Arkabutla Lake. The best catfish in the world come out of those waters. The photo was taken on the Point, near where the campers were parked. Thank you for your prayers!

      We’ll see if it’s #4 next week. 😉

I’ll guess #1 because I don’t know if you can press 2 on a home answering machine.
Thanks for the beautiful picture and scripture.

Pat, May you feel the Lord’s tangible presence as your walk through this shadow. Mega grace to you and your family.

I love the scripture and photo! I’m guessing #2.

    SHALOM and BLESSINGS!

My guess is #1, because who would be that dumb to basically say you’re available & have your boyfriend hear that on the answering machine? That’s just plain stupid in my opinion….but just like criminals, there are some pretty dense people in the world, lol!

Now the mention of catfish brings back a lot of good memories going fishing with my dad on the Mississippi river in Illinois. Then years later, with my step-dad when we would catch them big ones (like 5lb!). I think the best time was when it was raining or in the early evening hours. I also had an uncle who lived far out in the country who owned a private lake & had it stocked with bullhead. One time when my family went to visit for the day, my dad & I headed out to fish and caught 53 bullhead!! We probably threw back just as many but kept the biggest ones…..when we got home, we invited family over for a fish fry. Now that was fun!!

I also just never know what to say in these situations, but my heart goes out to you Patricia. I saw the news about your daughter on Facebook and it brought tears to my eyes. I can’t imagine….my prayers are with you & the family as you navigate this road. I hope you feel the Father’s arms around you giving comfort as only He can. Please take as much time away from the blog as you feel you need….we’ll all still be here 🙂 Hugs!

Trixi, your words were perfect. (I don’t think anyone knows what to say when someone loses a child, no matter the age.) And rest assured, I’m resting under God’s everlasting arms–The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

Right now, I’m still numb, which in its way is God’s protection. Time will make a difference.

I enjoyed your stories about catching catfish. The lake in the photo yields 50 lb fish. 🙂 And we’ll see next week if the caller was dumb (or mean) enough to leave a message like that!
