I Mean Really? ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 51 Comments

I Mean Really? is this week’s Mystery Question. I cannot believe how dumb some of these crooks are! It is so hard to make up one to match!

But first the photo and verse. I know, these aren’t lilies(they aren’t even close relatives), but they are my Amaryllises and I wanted to show them to you. 🙂  This is a verse I tell myself often. Not because I worry about clothes, but because I worry about other things!

I’ll actually still be in Chattanooga when you get this post, so I may not be quick on the replies today. I’m researching for the third book in the Pearl River Series and having a blast with my sister.

And now for last week’s Mystery Question–Dumbest Criminals Ever. As usual, three of these crimes really happened and I made one up. Can you guess which one?
  1. A man decided to rob a liquor store on his way home from work. He used a full ski mask and carried a gun.  What he forgot was the uniform he wore had his name and the logo where he worked. It didn’t take the police long to find him.
  2. In an attempt to speed up the process of the crime, the robber called the bank in advance to let them know he was coming to rob it. He thought it would give the bank more time to get the money together.
  3. Another bank robber chose a woman’s blonde wig, fake breasts, and bright clown pants as his disguise. That would have been okay, except he didn’t take the time to shave his facial hair. Then he drew more attention by stealing a car from a nearby gas station and soon had the police on his trail.
  4. And there was the man wanted in connection with an assault who used his mugshot as his Facebook profile picture…didn’t take cops long to track him down…

And the answer is…NOT #2. lol It’s #1.  Check out #2 here.

And now for this week’s Mystery Question–I Mean Really? As usual, three of these crimes really happened and I made one up. Can you guess which one?
  1. A counterfeiter was really unhappy with the new printer he bought, so he took it back and received a replacement. Unfortunately, the clerk noticed some “work” the customer forgot to remove from the old printer—a few counterfeit bills that cost him his freedom.
  2. One day, a drug addict broke into a garage to steal valuable items to sell for his next fix. But then, he found a freezer full of cold beers and Popsicles. He took out his fake teeth to enjoy a couple of Popsicles after he downed a few beers. Then he forgot to put his teeth back in. This dumb act cost him sixteen months behind bars.
  3. A man broke into a museum to steal a valuable gem. But instead of stealing the actual gem, he stole a replica. Unaware he’d stolen the replica, he attempted to sell the replica but he’s quickly caught by law enforcement.
  4. The man was an honest employee and a hard worker and very polite. So, before he stole over eight million dollars he needed, he left a note with his signature, explaining: “Borrowed, eight million, five hundred thousand dollars. Thank you.”
Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library that includes Counter Attack!

I think your Amaryllises are beautiful! I think you made up number 4 because it sounds like a fictional character who has OCD centered around manners. And if that’s NOT your character, I may steal him!

I was introduced to amaryllis just this year, and love them! I need to get mine in the ground. Worry…it’s such a constant, isn’t it? Even though we know “God’s got this,” whatever the “this” may be.
I’m going to guess #2 since it made me laugh the most! 🙂

So glad I made you laugh, L. And each of the amaryllis i have in my yard have been gifts that I planted. They just keep on giving. We’ll see next week if it’s #2.

Oh gosh, the amaryllis are breathtaking! Wow!

You sure got us last week on #2! Lol This weeks are totally head-shaking. I agree, Really????

Going with #4. I Iiked his manners, even if he was a thief.

Glad you had a blast with your sister. Well deserved break! Safe travels back

Pat, your Amaryllis is stunning! I think you are the only person I know who grows them, but then I don’t know much about flowering plants. Maybe I’ve never lived in an area where they are usually seen. The verse you chose to go with the photo is certainly appropriate.

Your crazy crimes this week would stump Columbo. I’m torn between #3 and #4. I’ve heard that museums sometimes use replicas of gems for insurance purposes, so that one may be true. The “honest” employee “borrowing” over eight million and leaving a note??? Not so much, I think. I’m going to say you made up #4.

Hi Tim! As usual, I enjoy your logic…we’ll see next week if it’s the popular #4…And Amaryllis plants are so easy to grow. You just put them in the ground and wait for them to bloom. I do dig them up every few years and there are always small tubers attached to the original bulb.

I am guessing #2. If beer is in the freezer, how can he down a few so quickly if frozen? Or they might burst? I may be overthinking here.

Good afternoon, I think it is #2. I love love your amaryllis’s. I have 2 big planters full of amaryllis and some of them from last year are blooming already. Have a great day and a great rest of the week. Sisters are the Best!

Love the beautiful red flowers, even if they aren’t lilies. With so many varieties of lilies, you could easily make me believe they are lilies. That scripture is a great choice.

I don’t buy #4. Why would an honest, hardworking employee need over eight million dollars? And what company keeps that kind of cash on hand? The amount is beyond belief.

I’m going to say #2 this week because you don’t need to take out your dentures to enjoy a popsicle. But then again we are talking about criminals, lol!

What a pretty flower and a bright pop of color for the spring 🙂 I read that scripture today, it’s a great reminder that we don’t have to worry about anything we need because God always supplies.

    Happy researching!!

The flowers are really beautiful. The verse is always a good one to remember. I think you made up number 1. Number 3 really had me laughing!
