Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 43 Comments

Edits are in. Check. Christmas Tree is up. Check. My own porcelain ornaments that I’ve made over the years dabbling around in clay are hung. Check. Air horn is under said Christmas tree. Check. Blog post up…not checked. But since you are reading this, it is now up. 😉

It’s been a busy week trying to finish edits which I did at 3:09 Sunday afternoon. Now to get ready for Thanksgiving…

Last week’s Mystery Question: Four stated facts. Three are true. One is not. Can you guess which one is made up?
  1. The Terminator script sold for $1.
  2. Instead of the usual 5 or 6 second-place winners in a Powerball lottery, there were 110 second-place winners because that’s how many used the number on their fortune cookie (they all got the same fortune cookie).
  3. Horse long-jumping was once an Olympic event.
  4. Salty water boils quicker.

And the answer is…#4! Salty water actually takes a little longer to come to a boil…Can you believe the Terminator script sold for a $1!

Now for this week’s Mystery Question: Four fact, three are true; one is not. Can you guess which one isn’t true?
  1. A flushed toilet rotates the opposite way in the Southern hemisphere.
  2. Lassie was always played by a male dog.
  3. The Bard never used the name William Shakespeare.
  4. At one time ‘girl’ was used for any child, male or female.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which fact did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library. And be sure to read my Thanksgiving post and leave a comment on Thursday for a drawing for a$10 Amazon Thanksgiving gift card!

I feel like I’m stuck in a rut, ’cause I’m going with number 1 again! I know the wind currents go in different directions in the northern and southern hemispheres, but I wouldn’t have thought the magnetic poles or temperature or anything else would affect the rotation of water in a toilet…

Believe it or not, I don’t think we have anything like Thanksgiving Day over here! I guess we’re not particularly thankful?! We have Waitangi Day (celebrating the Treaty of Waitangi), Labor Day, Queen’s Birthday (weekend), Christmas Day and Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and Day after New Year’s Day, and I can’t think of any others…! Kiwis aren’t particularly patriotic people, (except during the Rugby World Cup!) and we don’t really see a lot of national flags or anything around. Our history is more full of cannibalism and mini wars than any large-scale wars and liberation and such. So we don’t really celebrate much, and even the public holidays are more days to do housework than actually days to celebrate. We only really see celebrations and such on Guy Fawkes Day (not a public holiday, but everyone sets off fireworks, since that’s the only time they are for sale!) and Christmas Day and Halloween. Hope that all made sense!

I had the urge to Google the answer, but I thought that might take all the fun out of it. I’m going with number 3 because that sounds like another cool fact about the already cool Bard!

I’m choosing #1 because I believe the shape of the bowl, and the orientation of the water entrance hole (whatever it’s called) will determine the flow direction.
Wow Pat. You have a beautiful Christmas tree! And, that is one cute cat. What’s its name? And finally, an air horn? For celebratory noises, I presume.

Thank you, Tim. The kitty’s name is Suzy and she’s in the book I’m writing now. lol. We’ve had her almost eight years and she may be a little spoiled. I’ll have to do a post on her and our newest addition, Tux. She is not happy about him…And I love your logic about the flow of water…we’ll see if it works next week. lol

Tim, I forgot to respond to the airhorn. It’s to keep the kitties out of the tree–one of them is a climber and the other likes to chew on the limbs. lol. It has a motion detector and when one of them gets close to the tree, it goes off, spewing air and noise. lol

That sounds like something I can use to keep my boys out of the tree! Bet it works, too.
