From the Blotter ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 40 Comments

From the Blotter; Psalm 19:14

From the Blotter is this week’s Mystery Question. I think I said in my Friday post that I turned my manuscript in, but I didn’t say what time–3:31 Wednesday afternoon. So what’s next, you ask? In a couple of weeks, my editor will return it with all the changes she wants me to make, that’s what. 🙂 Wednesday was just the first step in getting the book to publication. When she returns it, I usually have a couple of weeks to make the changes and get it back to her.

Now on to the photo and verse. Psalm 19:14 was long one of a friend’s favorite verses. She graduated to heaven this past week and I thought I’d use the verse as a tribute to her. It’s also one of my favorite verses. As for the photo, it was taken last winter on my way to the 8 a.m. water aerobics class. That class now starts at 7 so as the days lengthen, I’m hoping to get another good shot.

Now let’s see what the answers to last week’s Mystery Questions are. I’m enjoying these crazy statements so once again I’m listing three true insurance/police statements from accident reports. One is false. It is your job, should you decide to take it, to guess the false statement.
  1. “The pedestrian had no idea which direction to go, so I ran over him.”
  2. “I drank too much and kissed a woman who wasn’t my wife, and her husband knocked my lights out.”
  3. “Coming home, I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don’t have.”
  4. “I pulled away from the side of the road, glanced at my mother-in-law, and headed over the embankment.”

And the answer is…#2. Congrats to all who answered correctly.

Now for this week’s Mystery Question. Again, I’m staying with the blotter reports. Three are true and one is false. It is your job to guess the false one!
  1. “I was on a one-way street going the right way when I realized someone had moved the sign and I was no longer going the right way.”
  2. “I was backing my car out of the driveway in the usual manner when it was struck by the other car in the same place where it had been struck several times before.”
  3. “I was sure the old fellow would never make it to the other side of the road when I struck him.”
  4. “When I could not avoid a collision, I stepped on the gas and crashed into the other car.”
Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments to be entered in a February drawing for a book from my library.

May your friend rest in peace. Your friend’s verse is a good one (that old Boney M song “Rivers of Babylon” started playing in my head).
I think it’s number 3 because I just hope an “old fellow” wasn’t hit crossing the street!

Hi Vera, we laughed at our pastor’s reminiscences of our friend’s life ’til we almost cried. It was truly a celebration of a life well lived. We’ll see if it’s #1 next week.

Spectacular photo! The verse says it all.

I don’t know about these excuses. They are all ridiculous. I can’t believe anyone would try to push them off on the authorities. I’m going with #1 for the one you made up. Those mobile signs will get you every time. #2 reminds my why my friend always backs her truck into a parking space or driveway.

Oh my!! These statements! 🙂 I’m going with #3, because they’re all a good ones and I can’t make up my mind,

Beautiful photo! The sun bursting through looks just like a a baby chick standing there. Then there was a head of Dagwood in the clouds (middle right).

I’m sorry about your friend, but what a lovely way to pay tribute to her, using one of her favorite verses.

Hi, Barbara. Sorry to be late answering comments but yesterday for the third time in my life I woke up with vertigo! It was gone by 10:30, but I was wasted the rest of the day. Today I’m fine, though…although my Reader Fridy blog post didn’t post on time. We’ll see next week if it’s #3.

Oooh, so sorry about the vertigo. It’s so debilitating. Glad it left after a few hours. I’ve dealt with it a lot and one bout lasted 8 months straight. Later today, I’ll send you some good tips that I learned in case it hits again.

I don’t how you could function with vertigo for 8 months! Years ago I knew someone that happened to and they couldn’t get out of bed! I’m just glad it’s gone. the last one I had was about 4 years ago and that was the first attack I’d had since my first one when I was 18.

Great tribute to your friend. That’s an excellent verse to guide us all. I love the picture. It is amazing the way God designs the clouds and how he shows off the sunrises and sunsets by adding the multitude of textures, etc. to the clouds.

I must say about the second report that some people never learn. I’m wondering if the other car was the same one that had hit this one several times previously? LOL. The third person certainly lacked compassion for old people. I’m choosing #4 because stepping on the gas when you can’t avoid a collision doesn’t compute with me. Stand on the brakes to make the impact as minimal as possible.

First of all, I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend Patricia 🙁 We all know she’s with the Lord, but it makes it hard for those left behind. Cherish all the great memories you had with her. May God give you peace & comfort.

Secondly, my guess for this week is #1 (though I’m sure I’m wrong) just because it made me read it at least three times….I’m still scratching my head trying to understand it 😀

Funny (ironic) story….I was about 18 driving my first car down a one-way street when I saw a person driving straight for me! I looked in stunned silence because I couldn’t believe what was happening…to say the least, it took me a minute to react!! I just couldn’t believe my eyes…yikes! Thankfully, I swerved in time to avoid what could have been a very bad accident. Your quiz question reminded me of that. Scary!

Trixi, I try not to ever get upset at something dumb that another driver does, because I’m sure I’ve done the same thing or worse. 🙂 So glad you avoided the accident! And we’ll see Tuesday if it’s #1. And my friend was 94 and had Alzheimer’s for the past few years, and I know she’s in a better place.
