Even More Deadly Inventions Lamentations 3:22-23

Even More Deadly Inventions is this week’s Mystery Question. I’ve enjoyed the others so much I thought I’d find some more. It’s amazing how many are out there. But first the photo and Scripture.

I love early morning. This photo was taken back in December…I have no idea where I was going or where this was taken, but I love it. And Lamentations 3:22-23 are some of my favorite verses…you will probably discover that I have many favorite verses. 🙂

Now for this week’s Mystery Question, More Killer Inventions, three are true, and one is made-up. Can you guess which one?
    1. A successful parachute pioneer was on the right track until he tested his “wearable model” coat parachute from the Eiffel Tower and it failed.
    2. In a test drive, the inventor of the Stanley Steamer automobile died when he drove his car into a woodpile while attempting to avoid farm wagons traveling side by side on the road.
    3. A scientist who invented a laser capable of shooting down incoming missiles died when the fire control system overheated and exploded in his lab.
    4. The inventor of a flying car attached a Cessna Flymaster to a Ford Pinto. Unfortunately, he died when the aircraft disintegrated soon after takeoff.

And the answer is…#3. Congrats to all who guessed correctly!

Now for Even More Deadly Inventions, this week’s Mystery Question. As usual, three are true and one is made up. Can you guess which one?
  1. A professional stuntman developed a shock-absorbent barrel and decided to test it at the Houston Astrodome by having it drop from the roof. Unfortunately, he didn’t figure on his barrel hitting the rim of the water tank meant to cushion his fall.
  2.  Piloting a homemade steam-powered rocket doesn’t even sound like a wise move, and it wasn’t for the inventor whose parachute failed to open during a crash landing.
  3. A Russian inventor experimented with blood transfusion, attempting to achieve eternal youth or at least partial rejuvenation. He died after he transfused the blood of a student suffering from malaria and tuberculosis.
  4. For the morning after…a sure cure for headaches featured sticking your hands into electrified water. The idea was that people would run a charge through water and then — after they stopped — the liquid would acquire all sorts of wondrous new qualities. Unfortunately, the inventor failed to stop the charge…

Okay Super Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments, and I’ll enter you in an April drawing for a book from my library.

March’s winner of a $10 gift card is…Delores Topliff!

#1&2 sound like true accidents from crazy inventions. 3&4. ….what were they thinking? In 4, it sounds as though he had too much to drink when he thought of it! Which one do I think is made up? This is tough. All are odd. Let’s say #4. Or is it 3? Ahaha 3. Let’s go with 3. I would hope these days, he’d be smart enough to think to test the blood first but he’s not rationale if he wants eternal youth. Who wants to stay here with the world as it is? Lol.

I’m going to go with #3 because you’d think the inventor would check out the medical history of the person who was giving the transfusion.

    Beautiful photo and verse, Pat.

Hmm. We do seem to have some crazy inventors, don’t we. The one that seems the flimsiest is #4. The inventor’s reasoning doesn’t make any kind of sense.

    Congrats Delores!

Thank you, Tim. I do enjoy putting the photos with verses…sometimes the same photo with different verses. And we do have some crazy inventors. We’ll see next week if it’s #4.

    Congratulations on your win, Delores!

Great picture and verse to start the day. Also one of my favorite verses. It reminds me to be thankful for how much God has been with me through the hard times. Great is HIS faithfulness.

These are all believable. I almost picked #3, then I remember people did all kinds of blood letting, drilling holes in heads and other weird medical practices. The only one left was #4, but it sounds possible. Sigh! #4.

Thanks, and it was fun to win the gift card in March 🙂 This week, I’ll guess you made up #2. I’d like to see a number of these happen except for when they result in death. Keep up the great puzzles!

I’ll guess #1 this time. The others seem like they were most possible to be real. It was really hard this time!

I believe it’s #3.I think somewhere in mine head I remember reading or hearing something about electrified water,But….as we get older we sometimes get memories confused. But we will see.I hope I’m not the only one who chose this one.I would hate feelings like I’m way off somewhere in left field… LOL!

Oh my goodness Patricia, these are all just plain crazy!! But since I have to choose one I think is made up, I’ll go with #4, though you have to know I think they all are true 😀

As for the scripture, it too is on of my favorite ones. And like you, I have many favorites 🙂 I don’t think there’s any “bad” scriptures….well except for reading the ones about animal sacrifices. Can you imagine having to do that still today? I’m so glad Jesus willingly went to the cross for me & was one sacrifice to cover ALL sins 🙂 Beautiful sunrise picture, thanks for sharing it. 🙂

Oh, Trixi, I so agree about not being fond of animal sacrifice verses! That’s where I am in my daily Bible reading and sometimes I’m afraid I skip over those. We’ll see next week if it’s #4.

I thought the dumb criminals were dumb, but my goodness! What are some of these inventors even thinking?! I’m going to guess #1.

It’s funny that you stated: “…you will probably discover that I have many favorite verses.” When I read the phrase preceding that one, I thought: “Pat has a lot of favorite verses.” I understand. I enjoyed the picture and the Scripture verses.

Thinking back to your “dumb criminal” stories, I know these folks were doing nothing criminal, but it seems they are even dumber than some of those criminals. Wow! I’m choosing #1. I can see the others actually happening, especially the parachute failing. That has probably been the cause of many deaths. The stuntman would surely have tested dropping the barrel with no one in it first to be sure the alignment was accurate for landing in the tank. If he was truly professional, did he normally leave that kind of thing to chance? The other two sounded about like absent-minded professors.

I always enjoy reading your comments, Edward. I love the way you work out the answer…we’ll find out next week if it’s the correct one.
And yeah, after probably saying every week the verse I use is a favorite one, I thought I better clarify that I have lots of favorite verses. lol
