Crazy Blotter Reports

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 28 Comments

This is another of my favorite scripture verses and one I have memorized. I’m thankful my pastor challenged us a few years ago to memorize Bible verses and this is one I chose. During this difficult time, it has helped me immensely! I hope it encourages you.

Now onto last week’s Mystery Question. Three of the following stories are true. One is false. Can you guess which one?
  1. “Haha, catch me if you can …” the criminal taunted the police. He went on to tell them he’d been walking around his neighborhood and a few hours later he was in police custody. It doesn’t pay to remind police that they’re looking for you.
  2. “I have your dog and I want $500 to return it.” The message posted via Facebook once again proved how dumb criminals can be. The police quickly traced the message back to the thief and the dog was returned to its owner.
  3. When the bank teller realized the robber was deaf, he triggered the alarm and the robber was quickly arrested. Months later, he tried to sue the bank for exploiting his disability.
  4. It wasn’t the dye that exploded in the money bag that brought down the bank robber–it was the obviously fake blonde wig, fake breasts and clown pants that caught the police’s attention.

And the answer is…#2. If it’s any consolation, Edward, the story about the deaf bank robber happened in 1995 in Germany…here’s the link: https://listverse.com/2014/08/09/10-of-the-dumbest-criminals-in-the-world/

And now onto this week’s Mystery Question: Four blotter reports. Three were actually reported. I made up one. Can you guess which one?
  1. A farmer’s son reported a lighted UFO hovering in front of his family’s farm, the twin lights not moving. Turned out his dad had worked late into the night and forgot to turn off the tractor lights.
  2. A man reported recently his wife had gone missing eighteen months ago.
  3. A caller reported hitting an intruder in the head with an ax. It was noted that the intruder ‘was in the mirror.’
  4. A woman reported trespassing tells police she is fixing the fence she was reported attempting to slip through. Police determined she is fixing the fence.

Okay, Mystery Sleuths, which one did I make up (Personally, they all sound made up to me. lol) Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing at the end of the month for a book from my library!

March winner is…Megan!

Pat, you’ve done it again! This is another head scratcher. They’re all weird. I will say it’s #1 this time.

And, I love that Bible passage, too. It’s so comforting. We also sing it in my church on occasion as part of the liturgy.

Pat, should I go hide my head in shame for my obvious lack of knowledge about bank alarm systems around the world? LOL! I’ve got to learn that what I think I know is not necessarily a fact. I may have a gap in my knowledge. I’m choosing #3. I have trouble with a person hitting “someone” in the head with an ax when it’s actually a mirror. Didn’t the mirror break when he hit with the ax? This person sounds like an idiot twice over. Unless some facts are missing, he should have recognized the person in the mirror, or known it was a mirror there if he was in his own home. Second, who would call the police after hitting a mirror and claim he hit an intruder in the head with an ax?

That’s a great Bible verse. I love Isaiah 41:10 and mostly know it by memory. I am going with #2 this week.

Ok so this week, I can see that all of these could be true: I’ve read stories or seen on TV shows like Forensic Files where a husband or wife didn’t report thier spouse was missing until months later, probably because they didn’t want the police to think they were guilty of making the spouse dissapear. Also, as far as the ax wielding individual, he or she may have a mental disorder that makes them “see” things that aren’t there. So for these two in my mind, these can be explained. The UFO could also be true because maybe the farmer’s son perceived the tractor lights to be a UFO. You made it hard this week…lol! I’m going to go with #3 this week because once again, I love Edward’s logic 🙂

You are a sneaky one this week, Patricia! I think you know what I am referring to, lol!

These are so strange if they are true! I’m going to guess #1. Beautiful picture and verse. My church has sung it as part of the liturgy too.
