Can Criminals Be Nuts or What?

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 45 Comments

This past week I got to spend time with my nephew, Brad, who has been quite ill these past few years. He was much better and we were able to go to one of his favorite restaurants in his hometown– A Little Pizza of Heaven.

He’s a great writer and I’ve been trying for years to get him to write a book. I got him set up on his iPad with a keyboard, so hopefully, he’ll start working on that novel I know he has in him. 🙂 (You hear that Brad?)

Now onto last week’s mystery question that involves something else at Auburn Mansion. What was the clear jar in the photo below used for?

And the answer is…a leech jar! Congrats to Paula Schreckhise for getting the right answer.

Now onto this week’s Mystery Question: Four scenarios are below. Three are true, unfortunately. I made up one. Can you guess which one I made up?
  1. A bank robber planned his getaway meticulously. He had a second set of clothes on under his snap-on pants and shirt complete with a cloth bag he could stuff the stolen money in. Everything went as planned except, he didn’t count on the wind whipping the loose money out of the bag, leaving a trail for the police to follow.
  2. Officials found a dead body mysteriously crumpled at the bottom of an escalator. When they looked at the TV camera video aimed at the escalator, they discovered he ran up the Down escalator and when he reached the top, he lost his balance and fell.
  3. A man filled a plastic jug with gas, but when he tried to pour it in his gas tank, it wouldn’t work, so he decided to melt the neck of the jug so he could shape it into a funnel. You guessed it–when he lit the torch to melt the top of the jug…
  4. A mysterious white powder arrived at the hotel room where nine tourists were sharing adjoining rooms. No one had ordered it, but thinking it was cocaine, they decided to divide it into nine small piles. Then they snorted it. All nine ended up in the hospital suffering from hallucinations and seizures. Turns out the drug was the very dangerous Scopolamine.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!

Your mystery segment is so much fun! I’m going with #2 this week. I can see the first happening, and three and four are downright: scary.

I truly hope #3 is made up. If someone truly did that, I’m with Bugs Bunny: “What a maroon!” After working in banking for many years, I can believe the first one. A lot of bank robbers are not the most brilliant people on the planet. And I can believe the next one because I have gone up the down escalator (or down the up escalator), but was fortunate that I never fell while doing it. And anything about what people snort doesn’t surprise me.

I’m so glad you were able to spend time with your Nephew and that he was well enough! Family time is precious 🙂

Congrats to Paula on guessing what the glass jar was. I KNEW she was onto something 😉 I

Oh please tell me #3 is false?? Why would anyone put a flame to a plastic jug filled with gas?? There are some incredibly dumb people in the world. I’m going to go with #2 this week since I would think someone would witness what happened. Most escalators I’ve seen are in public places. Just My logic anyway 😉

You should have more “what is this” posts, they’re always fun to guess what the object is. You kept me in suspense (pun intended) all week…lol!
