Back to Stupid Criminals ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 40 Comments

Back to Stupid Criminals is this week’s Mystery Question. I can’t believe just how stupid criminals can be. But first the photo and verse.

I took the photo standing on the shore of the Sea of Galilee at Capernaum. It is so amazing to walk where Jesus walked and to be on the Sea of Galilee. When I read the Gospels, I can now picture where things happened. And I’ve always fallen back on that verse when I’m troubled. It’s a promise that God has kept over and over.

Now for last week’s More Wacky 9-1-1 Calls Mystery Question. Three are true, one is made up–can you guess which one?
  1. When a woman saw a fire in her bathroom, she called 911. The fire department showed up to discover that the “flames” were just sunlight reflecting off the shower curtain.
  2. A man called police when Subway employees left off his sauce. He then called back to complain that officers weren’t responding fast enough.
  3. A man called 911 to report a squirrel was eating his birdseed. He wanted the police to arrest the squirrel and lock it up.
  4. In 2013, some crooks butt-dialed 911 in Oklahoma, right after robbing a house. Apparently, they were overheard discussing their loot.

And the answer is…Congrats to all of you who got it right, and Edward who remembered me using it once before (although he chose a different answer…)–#3! Guess I’ll have to retire the squirrels…

Now for this week’s Mystery Question. I’m back to stupid criminals. Three of the scenarios are true and one is made up. Can you tell which one:
  1. A man’s garage door malfunctioned, so he installed a camera until he could get it repaired. His neighbor came over and borrowed a paintbrush, saw the camera and took it, too. But he forgot to turn it off, and police quickly traced it through its live streaming.
  2. The crooks made their way to the open-air tank at a zoo and quickly slipped a baby shark into a stroller and then strolled out. Once again, a camera foiled them by catching them as they put the shark into the back of a pickup along with the tag number.
  3. I’m not exactly sure which crime this one covers, but video captured a man taking a bubble bath in the sink at a fast food restaurant.
  4. This guy should get Father of the Year for covering up the $500 theft of his son’s sales from selling Boy Scout popcorn with a fake armed robbery outside his garage. Again a camera foiled him when the alleged robbery failed to show up on security footage.
Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments, and I’ll enter you in an August drawing for something…
Now for this week’s Book From the Past: Silence in the Dark.  Silence in the DarkIt’s available on Kindle for less than $5.oo!

Two years ago, Bailey Adams broke off her engagement to Danny Maxwell and fled Logan Point for the mission field in Chihuahua, Mexico. Now she’s about to return home to the States, but there’s just one problem. After Bailey meets with the uncle of one of the mission children in the city, she barely escapes a sudden danger. Now she’s on the run–she just doesn’t know from whom. To make matters worse, people who help her along the way find themselves in danger too–including Danny.

Who is after her? Will they ever let up? And in the midst of the chaos, can Bailey keep herself from falling in love with her rescuer all over again?

Now for the song.  This is a beautiful song sung by a beautiful lady.

So great that you got to the Sea of Galilee and photographed it. It’s amazing how actually being there can cement the image of the Bible’s places for us. Though I’ve never been there, Dave Stotts has a great series you can watch where he drives through the biblical geography: https://tubitv.com/series/300005343/drive-thru-history-the-gospels

    Crazy criminals…
#1. Never steal a security camera.
    #2. Great shark tank story.
#3. Guy taking a bubble bath in a restaurant sink? Really? Ugh!
#4. Stealing from your own kid. How low can you go?
These are so crazy. I think you made up #4. It just seems weird. Oh, wait. They all seem weird, but I’ll stick with #4.

Hi, Tim…I loved going to Israel and would go again in a heartbeat if I could. Such a long flight…but there’s nothing like being there. We’ll see next week if it’s the growing-in-popularity #4.

I love your photo taken on the shore of the Sea of Galilee at Capernaum! I’m guessing #2, because it only says they put the shark in the stroller and doesn’t mention the tank.

A calming pictured and great verse. I enjoyed the song.

I think all four of these teach a valuable lesson. Don’t try to foil the cameras. Of course, the bigger lesson is that crime doesn’t pay. I’ll go with the flow this time and choose #4. We’ve all heard lots of stories of kids stealing from parents. Either they weren’t taught or they veered from their teaching. What is a parent thinking who would steal from their kid? If true, this parent was not considering what the son would have to go through to get the money to pay for the popcorn.

I am guessing #1 this week.
I love the photo and verse.
We watched Joey and Rory as they got their start. I loved her voice and was always moved by their performances. Heaven gained an amazing voice in the choir when she left this earth.
    Thank you for sharing this!!

Sorry I’m late responding. What a calming picture and comforting verse! I also enjoyed Joey’s song. Such a beautiful lady!
I enjoyed the entire Logan Point series, Pat.
