Back to Stupid Criminals 3 is this week’s Mystery Question. I really can’t believe just how stupid dumb people can be. These are fun to research…

But first the photo and verse. I took this last week while in Florida…honestly, Florida has the best clouds! I can’t wait to see what Barbara Diggs finds. When I looked at the photo, the verse about the first heaven–the sky– came to mind.

Now to this week’s Mystery Question ~ Back to Stupid Criminals 2. Four scenarios where people lied to the police. Three are true, one is made up. Which one? Leave your answer in the comments, and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!
  1. Police responded to a “robbery in progress” at a local car wash. The distraught victim claimed two men had robbed him at knifepoint of his wedding band. Surveillance cameras recorded a different picture. That of the man pulling into the car wash and then making a call that corresponded to the 911 call. Turns out he’d lost his wedding ring and didn’t want to tell his wife.
  2. A Dollar General store employee claims she was robbed by an armed robber as she carried the money to the bank for a night deposit. The police questioned why she was making a deposit at two in the morning when the store closed at ten. Clues led them to the local casino where video showed her losing the exact amount she was supposed to deposit.
  3. A postal employee reported being robbed of $40  by a gun-wielding robber. Unfortunately for the postal employee, where he claimed it happened was right in front of a school that had multiple surveillance cameras set up.
  4. A teacher was running late to work so he called the police and claimed two men posing as police officers pulled him over. Several hours were spent going door-to-door investigating the crime before the teacher finally broke down and admitted it was a hoax. The school plans disciplinary actions once the police are finished with him.

And the answer is… #2. As for #4, I was amazed that a teacher would lie to the police like that!

Now onto this week’s Mystery Question. Four stories, three are true, one is false. Can you spot the false one?
  1. A burglar was caught after he broke into a house and became fascinated with the homeowner’s robotic vacuum cleaner that was cleaning the floors. The homeowners were alerted when he yelled at it, saying it had missed a spot.
  2. A man who was impersonating a police officer flashed his amber and blue lights, activated his siren and pulled over a car. Unfortunately for him, it was an off-duty policeman. He won’t be pulling over anyone else in the near future.
  3. Police are searching for the girl who licked a half-gallon of ice cream and then posted the video to Facebook. They’ve traced it to a store in Texas and say it’s only a matter of time before the teenager is arrested.
  4. A man, high on bath salts, broke into a home and…put up Christmas decorations. Once he finished, he turned on the TV and went to sleep, only to be awakened by the police.

Here’s another of my books–just in case you don’t know what I’ve written. My apologies to all who have read them! I had the most fun researching this book. I grew up in Memphis (and it’s one reason I set a series there). At least once a month my dad would take my sister and me to the Pink Palace. We would spend all afternoon there, wandering the exhibits. It was fascinating.

    I thought all of this week’s pretty dumb criminals this week were all made up they all seemed hard to believe but the one that was really hard to believe was #4

    #3. She’ll get more than a lick’n.
    #4. Bath salts? I guess that is a thing. Who knew?

    Pat, I didn’t see a photo this week. So no cloud hunting, I guess. 🙁

    Going with #1. I yell at AI all the time for changing my words, so I feel a kindred spirit to the man yelling at the robo vac!

    For some reason the cloud photo didn’t come up on my computer, but I’m sure it’s lovely. “Looking for places to hide a body” at the Pink Palace, LOL, I’m sure they remember you! This week I’m going with #4 because it’s kinda sweet that the guy put up Christmas decorations.

      Something went wonky this morning, Priscilla. The cloud photo is up now. lol I loved touring the Pink Palace…and they got a big kick out of me trying to find a place to hide a body… We’ll see next week if it’s #4.

    This was a fun hunt now!! I saw tons of things.
    Polar bear, teddy bear, thumb’s up, island with a cove, surfer, face, crab or a cat’s head, frog, Sherlock Holmes’ pipe and lots of cotton candy!

    Love those clouds! Barbara, you certainly have better cloud glasses than I do! Thank you for giving me targets to look for.

    I love that verse from the Creation week. It took me most of my life to notice that each day was started in the evening. Then it occurred to me that the Jews start their day the same way. There are always little nuggets to find when you dig into the Word.

    I love the clouds, but I’m not sure I agree that Florida has the best. I have seen some beautiful ones here in Virginia lately. That song has been a favorite of mine for years. In 1995, I was on a contract job in Florida when I stopped at a McDonald’s for breakfast on the way to the office. That song came on just before I got to McDonald’s. I had to sit in the car and wait for the conclusion before going in. I hadn’t heard the song since my childhood. The message just grabbed me that day and I sat there with tears rolling down my face. Wow!

    #3 is my choice. Several things seem off. I’m unsure how tracing it to a store would be the best way to find the girl. Do they think she lives at the store? It seems the Facebook page would help identify the person through friends, those who responded, etc. A person who is dumb enough to do that most likely would be be dumb enough to show enough of their face to ID them. After all, what is the purpose of doing it if no one can see your face? I have to agree that these things are tough.

      Hi Edward! I agree that other states have beautiful clouds, but it seems that Florida consistently has them day after day. 😉 I love that song, too…and I love it when music moves me like you described. We’ll see next week how your assessment of #3 goes…
