Back to Crazy Laws #34 ~ Mystery Question

Patricia Bradley Mystery Question 44 Comments

Back to Crazy Laws #34 is this week’s Mystery Question. I had planned to do more whacky crimes, but life happened. lol.

But first the photo and verse. I took it yesterday afternoon in between cloud cover. I really didn’t think I’d be able to take the photo, but finally, the clouds parted somewhat. When I took the first one and checked it my camera said the card was missing. Oh, rats! I had taken it out to do the moonshot last week and forgot to put it back in.

By the time I got back outside clouds covered the sun…but I persevered, and soon the sun popped out again. I love that verse and thought it appropriate for the solar eclipse. God does some really neat things!

Now onto last week’s Wacky crimes. Three true crimes, one made up. Can you guess which one?
  1. When the sheriff’s department in a county in the South featured the arrest of a car thief on Tiktok, he sued them for embarrassing him.
  2. A man is in jail after being caught trying to sneak INTO a jail. Seems he wanted to sell drugs to the inmates.
  3. A man dressed as Tigger broke into a Nebraska vape store and bounced around the store, swiping about $500 worth of goods.
  4. An emergency dispatcher received an unusual call just before noon Monday when a motorist reported he was driving drunk and didn’t know what he was doing.

And the answer is…#1. Congrats to all those who answered correctly.

Now onto this week’s Back to Crazy Laws #34. Three are true and one is made up. Can you guess which one?
  1. It’s against the law here to maim yourself to avoid jury duty.
  2. In this state you can’t be charged for a free alcoholic beverage.
  3. You can’t paint a pig in this state.
  4. Here it’s against the law to put up a do-it-yourself electric fence.

Okay Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answers in the comments and I’ll enter you in an April drawing for a $10 gift card.

#4. Did you use a special lens on your camera to get a sharp shot of eclipse without damaging camera? Awesome photo and verse.

#2 for me, #3 for James. . . And it’ll probably be neither! LoL

Love the verse that goes with your eclipse shot. SOoooo glad you got your card back it and didn’t miss it!

We enjoyed the eclipse yesterday too. God’s handiwork is so amazing!
I’m going to guess number 4, if it’s a real law I have a feeling there are a lot of farmers and ranchers who are not in compliance!

Cool eclipse photo, Pat. I’ve seen one total solar eclipse, and that was on the Nova Scotia coast, near Prince Edward Island in 1972. I’ll never forget the beauty of that experience. I like the verse you chose to go with your photo.

#1 Who would know? Still, it is a dumb thing to do.
#2 Lot’s of people would want to know what that state is. 🙂
#3 I can paint a lot of things I shouldn’t. Now, is this pig as in barnyard animal, or as in cop? I would think the latter would be illegal in any state.
#4. No DIY electric fences. Yes, I can see that one might need permits at the least.
I’m going to say you made up #3. Who would know unless the pig squealed?

You got a fabulous eclipse photo! It’s even better with a little clouds because the clouds act as a filter so the light doesn’t overwhelm the camera. Anyhow, I pick number 3 this week because it cracked me up!

Maybe the clouds are what kept my camera from being damaged, Priscilla! And here I was upset about the clouds. lol We’ll see if it’s the one that cracked you up next week.

If #1 &#4 are real, you know it’s because someone was stupid, & did it! #2 should go without saying. Free drinks should be free. That leaves #3. I think you made up #3.

Your perseverance paid off. You got a very good shot. I love the verse. Interesting thought occurred to me. I’ve always thought Paul wrote that to those who accept Christ and spend eternity with Him. However, it is quite appropriate to us today. The sad thing is that non-Christians may enjoy some of that now but will never experience the verse to its fullest extent.

These are all about as clear as the muddy Mississippi. What constitutes maiming? How serious does it have to be to avoid jury duty? I guess only the ones who wrote the law know the answer to that. Charging for a free alcoholic beverage – did the bar offer free drinks all around? If so, why would they then charge? Or does that mean the LEOs can’t charge the ones who are drinking? Painting a pig – hmm. Does it mean an artist cannot include a pig in his painting if he’s painting a barnyard scene, or that no one can slather paint all over a pig with a brush or spray can? I personally wouldn’t want to build my own electric fence. Someone might get hurt on it and sue me. I’ll let a skilled person with the proper license build it so he can be the one getting sued. I know. Crazy observations about crazy laws. I’m choosing #3 because I think it is the most ambiguous of all.

Love your logic, Edward! We’ll see if it’s #3 next week. And I agree about the verse. I thought about using the verse in Isaiah: “Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.” And ended up using the one in 1 Corinthians. 🙂

I love your photo and verse, you always out do yourself! You were blessed that the clouds parted long enough to get a glimpse of the eclipse. Here in my part of the state we had clouds and rain, but the kids got a free day from school anyway!
I love your verse you picked, it’s truly going to be beyond our imagination what God is preparing for His children.
I’m going to pick #3 this week, the rest seem somewhat logical?? Never know!

Hi Ms. Dottie! Yes, I’m very thankful the clouds parted long enough for me to get my picture! It was awesome seeing how God created this old earth for that to happen! Love your logic on the Crazy laws. 😉 We’ll see next week if it’s #3.
