Write without Fear, Edit without Mercy

Breathing time is over~I will be getting edits back tomorrow for Obsession. There will be a few tweaks and then the manuscript will go on to another editor who makes sure everything is plausible. (that’s why I call her the Plausibility Police lol). I was so happy when my editor told me she loved the story!!

Now on to last week’s Mystery Question. Three are true, I made up one. Which one?
  1. After a six-inch snowfall, a patrolman clocked a car driving 54 in a 30-mile zone. When he stopped her, she said, “I know I was going fast, I was trying to get the snow off my windshield so I could see where I’m going!”
  2.  After a patrolman pulled a speeder over, he said, “I have a cold and when I cough, my foot mashes the pedal.”
  3. A patrolman pulled a motorcycle over after clocking him at 100 mph and told him unless he was Robert Knievel, the cyclist was going to jail. He smiled and pulled out his license. The name on the license was Robert Knievel, the III.
  4. A patrolman pulled a teenaged boy over. He’d clocked him at 101 and the boy wanted to argue that he was only doing 85 MPH because his speedometer only went to 85 and he’d had his gas pushed all the way to the floor.

And the answer is…#3…but there is a Robert Knievel III but he didn’t get pulled over for speeding. 🙂 Congrats to everyone who guessed correctly.

Now for this week’s Mystery Question. Once again I’ve found some dumb crimes. Three are actually true and I made one up. Guess which is mine.
  1. A fourteen-year-old shot another kid in the leg after a fight in their apartment complex. The victim described the gun used in detail. Guess what the detectives found on Pinterest? Yep. The other kid posing with the gun.
  2. An ATM machine was robbed of $15,240. The next day, the thief deposited $15,240 into his personal account at the same bank…
  3. Two young men in a pickup truck on a back road stopped a courting Amish couple in a buggy and told the couple to give them all of their money. The two men were locals and should have known Amish generally don’t carry cash and this couple didn’t. They did have excellent memories and gave the police the truck license plate.

  4. Two 17-year-olds donned ski-masks and robbed a local bank at gunpoint. Unfortunately, they also wore their letterman jackets with their names on the back.

Okay, Super Sleuths, which one did I make up? Leave your answer in the comments, and at the end of the month, I’ll enter you in a drawing for a book from my library!

Oohh, I want to go with number 3, because I didn’t think that Amish couples were allowed to be alone when courting… I could be wrong, though. Number 1 is also catching my attention though, because I don’t put pictures of myself on Pinterest… We’ll go with number 3 for this week though.

I hope you made up #3 because I don’t want that to have happened. I hope the others did. Love the writing/editing picture you posted & am happy w/ you that your editor loves this newest book–can’t wait to read it!

I agree with Monique’s reasoning, and vote for #3 also. Pat, you’re just getting better and better at stumping us.

Talk about dumb criminals in #4…HAHA! I’m going with #2 because I’m not sure ATM machines would hold that much cash. But my logic has failed me more than once, lol!

Thanks for these fun guessing games each week 🙂

I have to agree with Richard and several after him. I believe #2 is made up. I worked in banking for many years and was there when ATMs were first introduced. I have also seen all the regulations come down the pike concerning large cash deposits. Banks originally stocked their ATMs with $5 and $10 or $20 bills. Many eventually went to all $20 bills. The amount would be 762 $20 bills. The smaller the denomination of the bills, the greater the quantity. My point is that is a large number of bills to carry into a bank. Also, the vaults on ATMs are quite secure. It’s not like you can waltz into one, grab the cash and go.
