Happy May 15 Friday is today’s post. I’ve included photos I took of a rose as it went from bud to full flower. One was taken after a rain. Sometimes I think the rose is my favorite flower…until I see…a magnolia, maybe. 🙂 “Be Still and Know I Am God is a verse I’m still learning to be obedient to. How about you?”
Here’s the whole Psalm:
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth.[b] A song.
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields[d] with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Just finished “On the Edge of Trust”. Great book.

Thanks, Jane! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
One of my favorite versus. The rose was beautiful. Also loved the song choice. I am finishing up The Mother’s Day bargain by Martha Fouts. It is kind of like a Christian hallmark type of book.

I love Hallmark type books…they just make you feel good, Sharon!
What’s going on this week in my life well helping Dad care for my immobile Mom who is a lift chair 24/7 because of her Skin/Muscle disease but finished a few good books like A Scent of Hope by Susan May Warren to name one and many more. Also yesterday did laundry and went out to Noon Dinner with Church ladies
Love the Psalms

Sounds like your dad has quite a load. So glad you’re able to help him. Needing full-time care is so hard on the person requiring it and being a full-time caregiver is also hard. Stopped and prayed for all three of you! And lunch with the church ladies is always fun!
not reading anything now
It’s my birthday today. Hubs will cook me a steak dinner.
I am working on reading three today.
The Targeted by Cara Putman
A Chance for Kallie Mae by Ann Gabhart
Part of Your Workd by Karen Witemeyer
Happy birthday, Paula!
I envy your ability to read three books at once. Sometimes, I happy if I can just keep all the characters straight in one book. 🙂
Author
Happy Birthday, Paula! I wish I could read 3 books at one time! I can’t even work on more than one book at a time–tried it once and had characters from manuscript #1 showing up in manuscript #2. lol
Your roses are beautiful. I definitely need to work more on letting go and letting God. I am reading Catcher in the Rye. Goodness, it’s a compelling read, but I now understand why it was banned in US schools!
Author
Thanks, Priscilla — I love that rose. It’s hard to let go and let God, for sure! Never read Catcher in the Rye…right now I’m into light romances or romantic suspeses that lean on the funny side…
Oh, I love everything about this post. The photo, the key verse, the entire passage, and the song!!! It made my morning.
I will be busy packing and cleaning the house for our family trip to Florida. It’s a much needed time away since my dad passed a month ago. It was expected, but his absence is felt. Something interesting I will share about him is that he was born and passed in the same room after 88 years on the farm.

I love that your dad passed away in the house he was born in, Charlotte! I hope you enjoy your trip to Florida! Love that state. It’s definitely the Sunshine State!
Pat, you hit a grand slam with your photos, Psalm pick, and song; plus hosting the best blog for Christian suspense!!
I’m currently reading “Match Made in Mayhem” by Claire O’Sullivan. The first line is “Dispatch had called twenty minutes ago. Possible homicide, body in the water at Mana Paya Park”. Great plot, great banter. Another winner by Ms. O’Sullivan. Pat, you sure can pick the best authors!
Author
Thanks, Tim. I love creating the blogs each week! I’m reading a different Claire O’Sullivan book…don’t have my phone with me or I could tell you the name. 😉
I just finished reading The Girl Upstairs by Jessica Patch, which definitely made me lose sleep to keep reading.

I told you so, Delores. lol It’s a really good book…
How fun to see this beautiful rose in all its stages. Thanks for doing this for us. Did you smell it at each stage?
Thanks for listing the passage. Love that verse, too. I also enjoy Don Moen.
I’m reading book#3 in Gossamer Falls, Last to Fall by Lynn Blackburn. “Whoever said blood was thicker than water hadn’t know about the Pierce family.”
Happy birthday, Paula!

I did smell and still am smelling–there are several blooms on the bush. Love Lynn Blackburn’s books!
Love the photos!! The song brought back memories and even though I had not heard it in years, I was able to sing along (at least for the first stanza). I always appreciate the songs you share.
I am currently reading a Love Inspired ARC by Helena Smrcek.
We will get to visit with our youngest son’s family for a few hours this weekend. Sunday will be church as usual.

I’m glad you enjoyed the photos and song! Sounds like a good weekend ahead!
Lovely rose and I enjoyed the scripture. I have some fun daylilies blooming. I am reading a book by Natalie Walters that is coming out next week.

Thanks, Gloria! I used to have tiger day lilies. Natalie’s book sounds great!
Love the pictures. They do tell a story. My granddaughter is taking photography 2 in high school and one of their assignments was to tell a story with progressive photos.
I’m still reading Love on the Shelf by Sheila Robert’s.
Author
I’d love to take a photography class, Gail!
What a beautiful rose! I love the color. You did a great job of taking pictures as the bud developed into this beautiful flower. The verse is fitting. I remember when we used to sing that song in church. Don Moen does a great job with it.
I have been trying to read Riches Beyond Measure by Mary Connealy for about a week. I have had so much else going on that it’s been hard to find time to read. I might just shut down everything tonight and get it done.
