Friday June 5, 2026, is today’s post. Wishing you a great weekend! It’s been a beautiful, cool week here in North Mississippi, but July is coming. lol I hope you enjoy this week’s photo and verse. I took the photo on Roan Mountain last August, and I hope to visit there again soon! The mountains in East Tennessee are so pretty. I thought the verses in Philippians went well with the photo.

Philippians is one of my favorite books of the Bible, especially Chapter 4. In it we have some of the most encouraging verses:

4 “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

And then we have 11B-13:

“…for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

    Love those mountain top experiences, and you captured a great one with your camera, Pat. Philippians is one of my favorite books, too. Paul certainly had some interesting experiences there, and God gives us so much comfort through Paul’s writing.

    This week I have been reading “Secrets Chase Her” which is #2 in Rachel Dylan’s Deadly Justice series. It starts with, “Quinn Kelly looked at her smart watch again for the third time in five minutes.” Things go downhill from there.

    Yes, our mountains here in East Tennessee are some of God’s best handiwork. We live near the Ocoee River, and our area is beautiful in the spring. Come visit lower East TN sometime.

    Wow! That song will have you shouting amen for sure! I’ve heard the song many time, but not that version.

    Beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing those verses of Scripture and the song. Back when we were teens, my future wife and I, with another friend, sang that song in church. And NO, I did not hit those high notes like David Phelps. I may have told you before that a pastor friend and I went hiking on Roan Mountain back in the 70s. All the details, with the exception of who I was with, have become murky over the years. He pastored a church in Elizabethton, TN. I can’t recall where we went to start our hike. My cell phone wasn’t working that day, so I didn’t get any pictures. LOL!

      I’ve been through Elizabethton, Edward, probably on the day I took the photo. 🙂 You can climb to the Appalachian Trail from Roan Mountain. I was going to, but worried about walking back down to the road–it’s kind of steep. And lucky you, having a cell phone when you were a teen. ROTF 😉
