What I’m Reading–12 Agency Siblings

What I’m Reading–12 Agency Siblings: Since this is Black Friday, I want to introduce you to twelve Seymour Agency authors. Julie Gwinn, my agent, represents us all. She is so awesome and she suggested some of us band together since we write in similar genres. And we’re hosting a contest!

But first, the photo! Isn’t it gorgeous! I took it Thanksgiving afternoon while walking off our meal. 🙂

Now about the contest. Twelve of the Seymour Agency Siblings are giving away books! Each of us will contribute two books, except for LL Kaplan (and she’s giving away two $10 Gift cards!). One person will win all the books and a $10 gift card, and then there will be twelve individual winners! The contest runs from today, November 30 to December 15, 2020. Winners will be announced by the 18th! To enter, simply sign up for our newsletters! The link will be at the bottom of the post.

And today, I’ll introduce you to four of the authors, then next Friday I’ll introduce you to four more, and then the following week, the last four. To choose which ones to introduce first, I put everyone’s name in a bowl and pulled out four. Very scientific. What I'm Reading--12 Authors

No Filter by Heather Day GilbertFirst up, in alphabetical order, is Heather Day Gilbert.

Here in her own words is a little bit about her: I was born and raised in wild and wonderful West Virginia, and I live there once again. I’m thankful for my mountain state and I love writing about it in A Murder in the Mountains mystery series, the Hemlock Creek Suspense series, and the Barks & Beans Cafe cozy mystery series–you can find those on my books page.

You can learn more about Heather at her website! Heather Day Gilbert

The book Heather is giving away is No Filter. Here’s the back cover copy:

Welcome to the Barks & Beans Cafe, a quaint place where folks pet shelter dogs while enjoying a cup of java…and where murder sometimes pays a visit.

Fed up with her go-nowhere job, newly single Macy Hatfield moves back to her small hometown in West Virginia. She joins forces with her brother Bo in his crazy new venture—the Barks & Beans Cafe, which caters to dog lovers and coffee drinkers alike.

When a golf instructor is murdered at the nearby spiritual center, Macy winds up adopting his Great Dane. Just after Macy finds a mysterious message sewn under the dog’s collar, her Dane is dognapped. She launches into a relentless search for her newfound canine friend, but along the way, she digs up a cruel and confident killer.

Join siblings Macy and Bo Hatfield as they sniff out crimes in their hometown…with plenty of dogs along for the ride! The Barks & Beans Cafe cozy mystery series features a small town, an amateur sleuth, and no swearing or graphic scenes.

Next up is Danielle M. Haas.

Danielle grew up with a love of reading, partly due to her namesake – Danielle Steele. It seemed as though she was born to put pen to paper and write out the same love stories she devoured while growing up. You can learn more about Danielle at her website.

Bound by Danger

The disappearance of a local girl leads Special Agent Graham Grassi right to the doorstep of the sexy redhead that has haunted him since they were part of a thwarted hijacking last week.

Questioning Mickey O’Shay cuts through him as he informs her about her missing goddaughter, one of the girls involved in his investigation. He wants to keep her safe, but she won’t sit on the sidelines. The life of her goddaughter is in jeopardy and Mickey’s determination has him ready to handcuff her—or kiss her—in place. As time runs out though, the stakes run higher. They both struggle to ignore their attraction as they try to unravel a web of deception– before it’s too late. Contains language, violence, and sexual content.

Kelly IrvinNext up is Kelly Irvin.

I’ve known Kelly for at least eight years, maybe longer. We rode in the backseat of Mary Sue Seymour’s car way back in 2014 and talked about writing. I am so proud of Kelly’s success! Closer Than She Thinks

Kelly started out writing Amish fiction that I love! In the past few years she’s gone in a different direction, writing romantic suspense that will absolutely keep you on the edge of your seat! And also still writing her wonderful Amish stories. You can learn more about Kelly at her website.

Here’s the back cover copy for Closer Than She Knows:

A serial killer bent on revenge . . . and striking too close to home.

Teagan O’Rourke has always loved murder mysteries. In her job as a court reporter, she has written official records for dozens of real-life murders. She’s slapped evidence stickers on crime scene photos. She’s listened to hours of chilling testimony. But she’s never known the smell of death. And she never thought she might be a victim.

Until now.

A young police officer is murdered just inches away from her, and then a man calling himself a serial killer starts leaving Teagan notes, signing each with the name of a different murderer from her favorite mystery novels.

Panicked, Teagan turns to her friend Max Kennedy. Max longs for more than friendship with Teagan, but he fears she’ll never trust someone with a past like his. He wonders how much of God’s “tough love” he can take before he gives up on love completely. And he wonders if he’ll be able to keep Teagan alive long enough to find out.

As Teagan, Max, and Teagan’s police officer father race to track down the elusive killer, they each know they could be the next victim. Desperate to save those she loves, Teagan battles fears that once haunted her in childhood. Nothing seems to stop this obsessed murderer. No matter what she does, he seems to be getting closer . . .

And now Delores Topliff.

I met Delores ten, soon to be eleven years ago at Susan May Warren’s first Deep Thinker’s writing retreat. She now splits her time between Minnesota and Mississippi…I’ll let you figure out which months she spends in Mississippi–it’s 72° today. Delores writes both historical and split time as well as children’s books. She has also visited Israel eight times and has taken many on tours with her, yours truly included. You can find out more about Delores on her website.

The book she is giving away is Books Afloat. Here’s the cover and back cover copy:

Books AfloatWhen twenty-one-year-old Dust-bowl survivor Anne Mettles, moves to the Pacific Northwest, she creates a library to advance people’s lives as hers was by learning. Except her library, Books Afloat, is a floating houseboat traveling the Columbia River from Vancouver, Washington to the Pacific Ocean, bringing more than books to residents.

She also does military surveillance to assist undercover volunteers monitoring enemy activity. When a Japanese submarine enters the river, Anne and two brave teammates risk everything to save their nation.

And here’s the Rafflecopter link to enter the contest. We’re only asking that you sign up for our newsletter. And if you’ve already signed up, you can sign up again without worrying that you’ll get duplicates.

That’s it for this week! Tune back in next week for the next four Seymour Sibling authors. And don’t forget to sign up for the contest!

Pat, you always come up with novel ideas 🙂

Your photo just blew me away. I keep looking at it. For me, it has a Resurrection feel, so the Scripture is a good match.

I love your picture, that is magnificent! A great verse to go with it as well.
I signed up for the contest as well. Some of the authors I am familiar with and read their books, others I am looking forward to getting to know. Thank you for the introduction to them.

Thanks, Pearl. When I saw the sun going down behind our high school, I quickly snapped the photo. Love the way the light disperses. Thanks for stopping by. You’ll love my friends. 🙂

Love the picture and verse! My first thought was of the cross. I notice Tim Johnson said he thought of the resurrection. I see that also. Thanks for sharing.

A contest, how fun! Some of the authors I know, some are new-to-me. I’ve heard a lot about the Bark & Beans Cafe mystery ones lately & they sound intreguing. I’ve never read anything by Heather so it would be a treat to “discover” her 🙂 Looks like a book (and series) my husband would enjoy too, he likes straight mystery books with no romance (or very little). I’m going to enjoy meeting the rest of these authors in your future posts Patricia!

What a lovely picture, it looks like the ray of the sun shoots straight down to the ground. I LOVE it. Thanks for the heads up on the contest, looks like a great bundle of books to keep our reader hearts happy!

Hi, Trixi! Just scrolling through comments here and I hope you are able to read No Filter (and your hubby!). My husband reads over all my books and he really enjoys this series (set close to where we live, in Lewisburg, West Virginia). I think you’d enjoy since the romance is a back thread for both Macy and Bo, the sister/brother duo, and the focus is more on the cafe, the dogs, and the mysteries. Thanks for commenting, and thanks again to Patricia for featuring our books today!
